It’s ironic that a president thousands of miles away in the United States of America appears more vocal about the killings and insecurity in Nigeria than the leaders Nigerians elected themselves. While citizens battle hardship and violence daily, the government seems more focused on fresh loans and endless “projects on paper” despite rising oil revenues that should have eased the suffering of ordinary people.

The real problem is not Dangote’s survival, but whether ordinary Nigerians can cope with the higher cost of transport, food, and living that comes with subsidy removal.
