Health / Re: Doctor In The House:Obstetrics And Gynecology by thebridgeclinic: 12:16pm On Mar 30, 2015
wealthysandy:
Doc.I have a 27 days cycle and it has been regular,I dated my husband for 3 yrs b4 we got married 4 months ago and we've been having sex buh no conception although I hav had abortions b4 for another guy b4 I met my husband,I even have a doc track my ovulation day through vagina scarn and yet no conception.pls help me

How long have you been trying to conceive please? 3 years? Or did you start trying to get pregnant four months ago? Four months of trying is too soon to determine that you have a problem. The fact that your cycle has been regular shows that you are ovulating so that is good. A problem is if you've been trying for a year (if you're younger than 35) and you haven't conceived.
Health / Re: Please help a friend with Low Sperm Count by thebridgeclinic: 3:57pm On Mar 26, 2015
princejones:
Please l need help from health expert here in the house as l need to advice a friend who is married now for three years without a child and a confided in me that his sperm is always watery and he feel it might be giving low sperm count.Recommends drugs and any other form of advice, thanks to everyone that we help without hesitation.God bless you all.

So many people worry about sperm, so your friend is not alone in this. When sperm is left for a while, it is natural for it to liquify and become watery. He should be more concerned about what the sperm contains and not how it looks.

Your friend should do a simple sperm test which will tell him how his sperm is doing. At the same time, because they have been trying for a child for 3 years, his wife also needs to run tests so that we can rule out any problems with her.

He should visit a good fertility clinic where they can help him conceive.

Health / 1 In 4 Nigerian Women Need Help With Fertility: Find out why by thebridgeclinic: 12:31pm On Mar 26, 2015
Female infertility can be categorised into three factors: tubal, uterine and ovarian. (See attached picture)

Tubal factors which affect the fallopian tubes
Uterine factors which affect the lining of the uterus
Ovarian factors have to do with the ovaries and the eggs they produce

All three are linked, and if you have a problem with one or more it could make you infertile.

Let's start with the ovaries. If you have a problem with them, you may not be able to produce eggs which is one of two things (the other is the sperm) needed to make a baby.

Say your ovaries are fine, but your tubes are not. This can stop the sperm from reaching the egg and also the tubes may not be able to pick up the eggs from the ovaries.

So your eggs are fine and your tubes are in top shape and you get a fertilised egg which should turn into an embryo. But you have a problem with your uterine lining. You may not be able to carry a baby full term.

All these factors contribute to the reasons why some of our women are infertile. And each individual case is different.

We will discuss male infertility next week.

Please stay safe during these elections everyone. Have a great day!
