Heritage Bank Plc in partnership with the Lagos Chapter of Federal Government College Abuloma Old Girls’ Association is strategically positioning Nigerian women with the aim of finding their balances as a roadmap to financial freedom.

The 2008 long jump silver medalist Blessing Okagbare will no longer participate in athletic competitions for doping, the Athletics Integrity Unit (AIU) announced on Friday.


The 33-year-old, who is also a sprinter, was expelled from the Tokyo Olympics last year before the women’s 100m semi-finals after testing positive for human growth hormone at an out-of-competition test in Slovakia on July 19.

The North-South Economists’ Forum, NSEF, a focus group of development economists, has warned propagandists and information hawkers feasting on a phoney ‘Emefiele for President’ campaign not to drag the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, governor into the murky water of partisan politics.
Recently, some online news platforms flew a kite purporting that a group of top private sector players and some sitting governors were working on a script to install Mr. Godwin Emefiele as the next Nigerian president in the 2023 presidential election. The report claimed that Emefiele may likely resign his appointment as CBN governor this month to throw his hat into the Presidential ring.
But the CBN has stoutly rebutted the story as disingenuously false, lacking in substance and therefore a figment of the imagination of its purveyors.
CBN spokesman, Osita Nwasinobi, described the report as a distraction from the CBN’s focus on its mandate of minding monetary policies, financial stability and supporting government programmes.
 “I don’t know where that platform got their news from. We discuss monetary policies at the Central Bank and how to support the government, we don’t discuss politics. All these distractions, they should leave us out of them so that we can do our job,” Nwasinobi said.
However, the North-South Economists’ Forum said having done its independent investigation and consultations among highly placed Nigerian entrepreneurs some of whom were said to be among those promoting the Emefiele for President movement, it has discovered that the story was false in its entirety.
The body of Economists in a statement on Wednesday signed by its Chairman, Malam Ahmed Abdulkadir and Secretary, Dr. Chima Eboh, noted that “what was perceived to be a political meeting promoting Emefiele Presidential ambition was actually a meeting of governors, ex-governors, non-political actors, business people with proven economic management background, civil society organisations and the media, whose sole aim was to forge a new pathway for the growth and development of the nation.
“Emefiele was not on the agenda neither was he singled out for discussion at the meeting,” NSEF said.
The Economists urged the CBN governor to stay focused on his economic reengineering of the nation’s monetary policy framework to engender financial stability especially at these times when the nation is facing grave economic challenges.
NSEF charged those calling for Emefiele’s head and accusing him of playing partisan politics on the basis of a fake news to desist from such ill-advised adventure, adding that it ‘was childish and logically infantile to base their conclusion on a faulty premise.
“We have watched how the CBN under Emefiele has constricted the space for economic vampires who take advantage of the nation’s weak primary sector to import all manner of commodities into the country using forex sourced from CBN for local production of goods only to divert same to importation of the same products they originally claimed to manufacture in Nigeria.”
The group linked the renewed attacks on Emefiele to the economic crooks whom he has through the CBN policies of zero-forex for importation of commodities that can be easily grown in Nigeria and dozens of economic interventions by the CBN. It urged Emefiele not to be deterred by the headwinds created by this brood of economic saboteurs who have found easy recruits in some faceless organisations.
“Dragging Emefiele into politics is a show of aberrant mental indolence which does not advertise the propagandists as intelligent or persons given to critical thinking. As a body of Economists with strong bias for development, we consider it an effusion of ingratitude to ever imagine or conjecture that CBN under Emefiele is favouring one political party over another. That is the height of unreason,” the statement said.

Apparently not expecting it would so quickly come into public scrutiny, the bank decided to hire a cyber-security firm—iZOOlogic– based in the United Kingdom, which wrote THE WHISTLER to step down the report.
When this did not yield the desired result, the firm went through our website’s hosting comapny to report a copyright infringement alleging that THE WHISTLER published a content it “did not authorize.”
The host, acting on the wrong information provided by Parallex bank, took down the website for about four hours.
After being notified about the false allegation, THE WHISTLER explained that there was no copyright violation since the information used in the report was posted by the bank on its own website.
The clarification led to the restoration of the newspaper’s website.
Parallex bank’s action was no doubt an assault on media freedom and THE WHISTLER is prepared to seek redress in court for the damages caused.

Magodo Phase One Gateway Zone Residents Wants IGP to Warn Police on Backing Land Grabbers----Just as the dust of the recent crisis at Magodo Phase 2 is trying to settle down, it seems the Nigerian police is at its game again in another area of Magodo.

This time it is at Magodo GRA Phase 1, Gateway Zone where some negative elements within the police force are actively backing Mr. Jamiu Oloto and Mr. Ola Oladugba to take over parts of the estate under the guise of illegal road construction.

In the words of Ayo Fasugba, the chairman of the Magodo GRA Phase 1 Gateway Zone Community Development Association (CDA), ‘This should have ordinarily been an issue between the land grabbers and the government because their target is a huge gorge or marshland (wetland), that has been declared inhabitable by environmentalists, but it is an irony that we are now the ones confronting a very vicious group that seems to have the active support of some top law-enforcement officers,’

Magodo Phase 1, Gateway Zone, in Lagos State has always enjoyed remarkable tranquility and good security until a group of land grabbers generally referred to as ‘Omonile’ started invading and infiltrating the Estate under the guise that they need another access road to a wetland space they claim they want to sell or develop. Their attraction for access through Gateway Zone is due to the level of infrastructural developments championed by the CDA. Residents of the estate claim that sometimes, these illegal land grabbers storm the estate with law enforcement police officers in uniform.

The attention of relevant Government parastatals had been drawn to the issue after several invasions from the Land Grabbers. Despite several letters from various state government agencies affirming the right of the estate, the threats and attacks had persisted.

One of the most violent attempts took place a few months ago, in November 2021 when the suspected Land Grabbers led by Mr. Jamiu Oloto and Mr. Ola Oladugba, with deception and impersonation forcefully gained access into the Estate. They also brought an Excavator-Bulldozer into the estate. They moved the equipment to the perimeter fence at the end of Ayo Fasugba Road, the major road on the estate, and demolished the walls at that point, claiming that the part demolished was the access or road to the gorge where the plots of land they want to develop are located.

All efforts to stop them from further demolition by the Residents available proved abortive as a mammoth crowd of hoodlums, numbering over 30, came in through the gorge and started chasing residents with different harmful weapons, like knives, cutlasses, daggers, axes, evil bracelets, and charms.

It was the prompt intervention of the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) that salvaged the situation while the excavator operator and one of the leaders of suspected Land Grabbers were arrested as others took to their heels.

Shockingly, the dispersed hoodlums later re-grouped in the evening to challenge the security persons positioned to protect the porous border. The hoodlums were quite boastful, claiming that they have the support of a certain Deputy-Inspector General of Police and the Lagos State Assembly, so no one can stop their illegal exploits.

Petitions have been written to the Commissioner of Police, NTDA, Lands, and other Government Agencies to register the unlawful act of willful damage by Land Grabbers who invaded the Estate.

According to Ayo Fasugba, the CDA Chairman, ‘It is so worrisome and the situation and apprehension are so heightened that our residents are now very uncomfortable about these criminal elements next moves.

‘We just hope the Inspector-General will call all his men to order on this issue to absolve the police of any complicity. We want the perpetrators of the dastardly act to be arrested and prosecuted by the Nigeria Police Force and we are seeking Police protection while we make efforts to rebuild the segment of our fence that was demolished by the hoodlums’.

His growth in the automotive industry was not a smooth ride being a black immigrant with strong accent, not everyone wanted to do business with him. He faced the tough reality as he recalled one instance while working at a Ford store in Brattleboro, Vermont, when a man came to check out a pickup. The man brought his mother to co-sign, Mba said, so he was ready to buy. Mba greeted them and retrieved the vehicle, but after a test drive, they abruptly left. The manager was upset, thinking Mba had blown the deal. Then the phone rang.

The man said he wanted the truck but didn't want to buy from "the Black guy." Instead of turning him away, the store had another salesperson handle the deal. The buyer's wife apologized, as did Mba's manager. The unpleasant experience instead of being an impediment to his vision, invigorated, stimulated and emboldened him to stay focussed. "The issue of acceptance was there at the beginning," he said, "but you have to find a way to fight through."
In 2016, Mba acquired Ford motor Company dealership in Brattleboro near New Hampshire.
In 2018, he acquired a dualed Toyota-Ford showroom Westminster, Vermont and sold his single-point Ford store. He is currently constructing a 40,000-square-foot (12,200 square meters) facility to comfortably house his Ford and Toyota franchises.

Mr Mba is happily married and grooming his 14-year-old son, who works in the office twice a week, to take over the business in the future.
"Don't look for that perfect dealership, don't look for that perfect city," Mba said. "We cannot have everything at the same time. You can grow to make it perfect, you can grow to make it your home. Take that faith and run with it. Follow your instincts and look for a place where you can grow.", Faith advises prospective automotive industry investors especially the minority group.

TGM gathered that the decision was announced by the Chairman Technical Committee Nigeria-Twitter Engagement and Director-General National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), Kashifu Inuwa Abdullahi, CCIE.

Kashifu, in a statement in Abuja, said the approval was given following a memo written to the President by Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Prof Isa Ali Ibrahim.

Sidikat Odukanwi's Daughter, Bisi Aisha had on Wednesday evening revealed via her social media handle that Iyabo Oko passed on, aged 61.

However, Aisha on Thursday morning she wrote:

Ahead of Chelsea vs Tottenham Tuesday match, Thomas Tuchel has disclosed that Romelu Lukaku has apologized to the board and coaching staff of the club over his recent interview.

This comes after Mompha filed for libelous and defamatory publications made against him by the crossdresser, demanding compensation of N1 billion.

Mompha, in the lawsuit notice accused Bobrisky of not debunking a claim made by his (Bobrisky’s) former employee, Oye Kyme, about them being homosexual partners.

The petition, which was signed by Mompha’s solicitor, Clement Benjamin, required the controversial crossdresser to retract and apologize in two newspapers within seven days or risk paying the sum of N1bn as damages over claims which Mompha described as “malicious”.

The letter marked, ‘My Ref: PAD/PRESS/VOL.3/1/256’, was titled, ‘Ghana Police Service statement on communication of Prophecies and their legal implications’.

The letter read, “As the year 2021 draws to a close, the Ghana Police Service wishes to draw the attention of Ghanaians, especially religious groups, to the fact that whereas we have the right to religion, freedom of worship and free speech, all of these rights are subject to the respect for the rights and freedoms of others according to our laws.
“Over the years, communication of prophecies of harm, danger and death, by some religious leaders, have created tension and panic in the Ghanaian society and put the lives of many people in fear and danger.
