Hi Guys!

I'm new here and I need help with info regarding the J1 visa. What are the requirements for this visa? and which of the requirements I'm to pay for?

Hi everyone!

I'm planning to travel to the State for a postdoc fellowship, and I'm made to understand that I'm to apply for a J1 visa. I see that there are some processing fees I need to pay for such as, SEVIS and application fee. Aside from this, are there other fees one need to pay for? Thanks

TravelRe: Securing Visa To France, Applying From Nigeria... by theHanafis(m): 12:03am On Jul 12, 2023
Still got some few more questions.

I have another offer on the table from a high tech company in Singapore that pays way better than the one I previously got in France. Benefits, Bonuses (including sign on bonus), relocation allowance and company's profile is better. Should one choose France simply because of long term benefit and is Europe or the Singapore option is better?

Also, I'm currently interviewing with another high tech company that will base me in Manchester or Munich, which I'm interested in because of the company's profile and location. Is it advisable to wait for this company which might take 3 months or even more to finalize the offer + visa application or one should just hustle to either of the first two companies, and then switch when this Manchester/Munich offer materialize?

Hello for your to be eligible for a talent passport, you have to get the following requirements,
* Gross annual pay of at least twice the statutory national minimum wage (SMIC), i.e. €41,933 as of May 1, 2023.

Yeah, minimum should be that amount for the passeport talent visa.

* A permanent employment contract or a fixed-term employment contract for at least three months with an employer established in France.

Yeah they are established in France.

* A qualification equivalent to a master’s degree obtained in France.

I have a PhD (though not from France) and my employer asked me to apply for passeport talent visa. So, I don't think it's a must.

if you meet the requirement for 1 and 2, item 3 might be an issue for you if you don't have a degree certificate obtained in France which is a most.

so you will need to apply for another type of passport.

I am a student in France and i know for someone to get a talent passport you most have the 3 requirements especially item 3

I'm trying that at the moment. Checking periodically to see if earlier dates could pop up.

My employer can email the Consul General, because they recently told me they're doing their best on their end. I'm applying via the Abuja vfs center though.

Can you confirm if this email: visas.abuja-amba@diplomatie.gouv.fr is that of the Abuja Consul General?

Regarding travel health insurance, vfs told me it isn't necessary and only requirements that were mentioned on the French visa application site are mandatory.

An ID photograph is required for the talent visa. Can one use the national ID card for this requirement?

And lastly, can one book for appointment and lounge separately?
TravelRe: Securing Visa To France, Applying From Nigeria... by theHanafis(m): 9:43am On Jul 11, 2023
Thanks @Newbiein2016 for your response and those quotes. I have another question. I'm looking to schedule an early appointment within this month because my employer wants me to join immediately, and I see that most of the available dates in Abuja are in late August. Is there a way, I can schedule an early appointment? Any time of the day vfs release early dates?

Or is it possible for one to schedule a date, then reschedule to an earlier date? If so, is there a cost for the rescheduling and how much?
TravelRe: Securing Visa To France, Applying From Nigeria... by theHanafis(m):
Hi Guys!

I recently got a job in France and I'm applying for the French passeport talent visa. My host, the company will cover all cost (accommodation + cash on arrival + flight ticket + reimbursement of visa processing cost). I'm aware that I'm to provide travel document (passport), ID photograph, contract agreement from the host, and highest degree certificate as requested from the visa application site.

Do I need to ask my employer to book the flight before my appointment date in order to show travel itinerary?, and ask them for the paid 1-month accommodation?

Also, what other documents do I need? travel health insurance? if yes, can I apply for it online, make payment and printout a slip as evidence for the insurance?

Anyone with experience regarding passeport talent application?

I would be glad if someone could find time to provide me with some answers to my questions.

Your statement must cover your first year fees including living expenses. Do the calculation.

Someone I know got a study permit with about 500k balance in the account.
Recently or long ago?

You needed to add the scholarship letter and all other documents related to that scholarship.

You also need to add a breakdown of the cost of the trip..cost of ticket, hotel, transport and feeding etc.

Doing that will give you an idea about the cost of the trip.

You also need a letter from your daddy permitting you to use and spend the money in that account.
Thank you @Justwise for the clarification. I will attach my admission and scholarship letter as you said.

Can i obtain a court affidavit of support and get my Dad to sign it?

I have a letter of invitation from a post doctoral student at the university of pretoria, inviting me to stay at his residence. He is also a lecturer here in my school. Should i use his letter of invitation for my visa application or i should just make hotel reservation?

Thank you

I think you need the letter of admission duly stamped by the school and whatever proof that states the Taiwan embassy closure and redirecting you to the south african office as well as your letter of sponsorship from your dad. if you can also provide your personal bank statement and put it all in prayers... there's nothing God cannot do if your reason for traveling is genuine.... just be honest in your self introdictory letter
Thank you for your contribution. I will provide a photocopy of my admission/scholarship letter. For the case of embassy closure, i dont have any document regarding that but i can print out document that redirect me to SA from bureau of consular affairs website.

Hello,
Did you properly state your reason for going and the situation around your finances in your letter of self-introduction?
Yes I state it clearly that the purpose of my visit to SA is to attend a resident visa interview for my doctoral studies at Taipei economic and cultural office in pretoria.

No, I didn't state the situation around my finance.

Please don't waste your money applying for visa until you can afford it yourself because that is what gives you strong tie to Nigeria.

As a grown up adult you can't present your father's bank account for tourist visa application, this is not study or medical treatment trip.

The question is this..why are you in a hurry to travel to SA as a tourist when you can't afford it?

You just started working not even for 6months, not paid any salary yet and you want to take a holiday to SA?
The date of resumption for my studies is 17th September and time is almost against. Pls any advice you can give me regarding this?

@Justwise the reason why I'm travelling to SA is to attend a resident visa interview at Taipei economic and cultural office for my Doctoral studies. I got a PhD scholarship in Taiwan and recently, Taiwan closed their trade mission in Nigeria (I can't apply for visa here). So I was directed by the bureau of counsular affairs (BOCA) in Taipei to go to SA and apply for visa. This is my reason of going to SA sir

You don't qualify for visa with that amount and using your daddy's bank account.

Do you work and how much do you earn monthly?
Moreover @Justwise, I was working with the state government earning 30K in a month. But currently, I'm newly employed as a university lecturer. I was employed in June and since then I haven't got paid. Newly employed staffs only get paid after 3 months. The letter of introduction from employer I used for my visa application was from my university (department) but my bank statement will show no evidence of working with them because i haven't been paid since employed. Is there anything I can do regarding this? Should I attach my appointment letter, university staff ID card to my application and deposit the 1.3M to my account if I must use my own statement? Remember the monthly earning from the state government in this account is 30k.
