Broken Hearted Girl

(For The Woman Who Loved Too Much�)

I loved him terribly more than words could tell
Even more than my Momma's warmth!
Stormy waters could not quench my love's fire
Because it burnt vehemently in all desire.
It claimed me like worms a corpse,
Without sparing a single piece of my flesh! It possessed me- beyond madness, beyond imagination, beyond love! �

My love for him was greener than the tender grasses
Bluer than the afternoon skies
Yellower than the sun; even hotter! �
Redder than blood, and it did flow!
Whiter than Soyinka's hair! ��
Oh how I loved this man! �

In my colourful visions I did see him.
I painted him gold on a silver surface.
His words held me bound; I sought no replica.
He charmed me with melodies;
Even nightingales could not compete!

Now all I have is soured memories �
Of love long gone.
For he threw it back to my face!
Bless my soul, for it didn't come too late
Because the residue of my broken heart time will retrace.

If you'd informed me expressly,
What, I would have placed my blessing freely
But you didn't tell me anything -
Your decisions, new woman and ah... Your wedding...! ��
