First what we call music in today's world is Haram (as long as it involves musical instruments i.e guitar, piano, bell, drums, saxophone and sort).


Surah Luqman (31:6)
"And of mankind is he who purchases idle talk to mislead (others) from the Path of Allah without knowledge, and takes it (the Path of Allah) by way of mockery. For such there will be a humiliating torment."

Many scholars, including Ibn Kathir, have interpreted "idle talk" (lahw al-hadith) as referring to music, singing, and instruments. Check Tafsir Ibn Kathir.
Also Ibn Mas’ud (a prominent companion of the Prophet) explicitly stated, "By Allah, it refers to singing."

Surah An-Najm (53:59-61)
"Do you then wonder at this recital (the Qur'an)? And you laugh at it and do not weep, while you are wasting your time in vanities?"
Scholars have associated "vanities" (samidun) with singing and music in the Arabic dialect of Himyar.


Sahih al-Bukhari
The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said: "There will be among my followers people who will consider illegal sexual intercourse, the wearing of silk, the drinking of alcoholic drinks, and the use of musical instruments, as lawful…"
(Narrated by Al-Bukhari, Hadith 5590)

This Hadith explicitly mentions musical instruments (ma’azif) as part of things that will be wrongly deemed lawful by some Muslims just like you today


Sunan Ibn Majah
The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: "A people of my Ummah will drink wine, calling it by another name, and musical instruments will be played for them and singing girls (will sing for them). Allah will cause the earth to swallow them up, and He will turn them into monkeys and pigs."
(Sunan Ibn Majah, Hadith 4020)


Musnad Imam Ahmad
The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: "Allah has forbidden wine, gambling, drum (kubah), and every intoxicant is haram."
(Musnad Ahmad, Hadith 19400)

Scholars interpret "kubah" as a type of drum or musical instrument.

Sahih Muslim
Abu Hurairah reported the Prophet (peace be upon him) as saying: "The bell is the musical instrument of Satan."
(Sahih Muslim, Hadith 2114)

Ibn Taymiyyah (may Allah have mercy on him) stated:
"The view of the four Imams is that all musical instruments are haram. It is proven in Sahih al-Bukhari and elsewhere that the Prophet forbade musical instruments and said they lead to immorality and sin."

Imam Al-Qurtubi, in his Tafsir, commented on Surah Luqman (31:6):
"This verse is evidence for the prohibition of music and singing."



Ibn Qayyim al-Jawziyyah stated:
"Music is the Quran of Shaytan. It occupies the heart, preventing it from pondering the Quran and obeying Allah. This is one of the tricks of the devil."
(Madarij as-Salikeen, Vol. 1)



Al-Shafi'i scholar Al-Ghazali mentioned:
"Instruments like the drum, flute, and others that arouse passions are haram, as they distract one from remembering Allah."

These evidences reflect the traditional stance on music in Islam
While the majority opinion among classical scholars is that music is haram, some argue that non-lnstrumental music(without drums, saxophone,flute, guitar, in and what have you....), without sinful content i.e waka, may be permissible. This minority opinion is based on weaker Hadith and less strict interpretations.

It is a complete system that ensures justice and fairness within the bounds of Islam which is not in our judicial system.

To the olobeeyo Muslims criticizing it, we know why you oppose it: you engage in acts that Shari'ah forbids, such as drinking alcohol, committing zina (adultery and fornication), consuming riba (usury), using human being for sacrifice, eating human flesh and drinking human blood and even more severe social vices. Your guilty conscience terrifies you at the mere mention of Shari'ah, but understand this: there is no Shari'ah State in the Southwest or even in Nigeria where Shari'ah is being practice in it's full scale, so you may be safe in this World but you'll be held accountable in hereafter should you die on this.

Consider Ilorin, Kwara State, where there's Shari'ah Courts. How many hands have been amputated there? How many heads have been severed? Even in thesame North. Your fears are based on ignorance and misinformation.
