Politics / Re: 7 Nigerians Who Can Upturn IMF's Depressing GDP Forecast by thetrimqueen: 5:37am On Jul 21, 2016
Bolustic:
The main problem of Nigeria isn't over dependence on oil alone it's over dependence on imports. Tell me one finished product Nigeria exports, none!!! Economic diversification is the only way and it's always a long term project, so I'm non-plussed with IMF's negative economic indices.

I feel the PMB's government should focus on:

1). The revitalisation of Ajaokuta Steel Mills, if fully functional, it can serve Nigeria and West Africa,

2). Assisting Kebbi and Ebonyi states in rice plantations, it's on the record that Nigeria spent over 1 trillion naira on food imports in 2015 alone of which you and I know the percentage rice is gonna carry,

3) Reviving the moribund textile industry, why should Nigeria still import clothing materials?

4) Carrying out massive reforms on the Nigerian education system, studying abroad is one of the factors placing strain on the dollars, Nigeria loses billions of dollars to UK, US India, South Africa and even Ghana and Benin Republic,

5) Nigerians love cars, Innoson Motors needs to have plants in Lagos and Kano as well as engage in aggressive advertisements, else it would be still be seen as an eastern, not Nigerian car

6) Lend all support to Dangote as regards his refinery, refining oil in Nigeria will ease the burden on the naira in no small way.

7) Work harder on power generation.

Finally, the government needs to realize that WHAT WE DON'T HAVE IS WHAT WE DON'T NEED. Outrightly ban imports on things like tooth pick, brushes, Polish etc
you just took the words out of my mouth. Most Nigerians are too in love with luxury to let go. I just pray we do not actually get to a point where nothing van be done again
Health / Women: Why You Should Lift by thetrimqueen: 12:13pm On Jul 20, 2016
I know a lot of Nigeria women would not want to lift weights because they are afraid of bulking up and becoming too muscly. This is a wrong idea as you cannot bulk up unless; you have too much testosterone, you take steroids. Here is a lady who lifts(she is jen selter on instagram, so you can check her out),you can see that she has a well toned body. Most women who lift are well toned and nicely shaped and I know most of you would want her body. Here are some quick reasons why you should lift.

1.) Greater fat loss: Add a few lifting programs to you regime and see a faster fat loss within a shorter period. This is because muscle uses up more energy than fat, do even when your body is resting it is burning up a lot of fat.

2.) Defined body shape: When you have muscles your body shape becomes more defined. Muscle also makes you look leaner.

3.) Bone health: As a young lady you may not see the need of lifting now but when you get older you would wish you had done it while younger. When women reach menopause the hormone estrogen which helps the bones reduces. By the time you reach post-menopause the estrogen production gets very low, then the woman stands a risk of developing osteoporosis( a medical condition, which the bones become fragile and brittle due to loss of tissue and is susceptible to fracture). With weight lifting, you would have a reduced risk of having it as the muscle growth would help prevent it.

4.) Healthier heart: Research has shown that those who add weight training to their fitness regime have reduced diastolic blood pressure by an average of eight points.

This are a few but there are so many reasons put there why you should lift as a woman. So why not pick up the weights now and add it to your fitness regime and see the amazing benefits. But remember to start small and work you way up.

Health / Fats Are Healthy, Some. by thetrimqueen: 5:46pm On Jul 19, 2016
A lot of us have grown up with the wrong notion that anything with “fat” in it is bad and horrible. That is a big misconception as research has shown that some fats are actually needed for the body. There are two types of fat;

Saturated fat(bad fat)

Unsaturated fat(good fat)

1.) Saturated fat: this type of fat is found in meat and dairy products(cheese, milk and butter). It is needed by the body in little quantities. It is the type of fat associated with cholesterol and heart disease. It should be taken in moderation.

2.) Unsaturated fat: this type of fat on the other hand has been shown to reduce the risk of cholesterol and heart disease. It is even recommends to be part of our daily diet as our body cannot produce some of it like the omega-3 fatty acid, which is very healthy.

Where they can be found

A.) Nuts(groundout, cashew nuts,almond nut,etc)

B.) Avocado pear

C.) Olive oil

D.) Poultry(chicken, turkey,etc)

E.) Soyabean oil

F.) Salmon

G.) Mackerel.

Before you join the bandwagon that “all fats are  bad ”, you should think about it. Try adding some of this foods to your diet and see the difference.
