TravelRe: Living In Canada/Life As A Canadian Immigrant by TheWatcher212: 3:48pm On Aug 09, 2017
Blackbuddy:
Hi, I moved to the GTA in June 2015 and settled in Mississauga. I came with my whole family and my wife and I (bankers) started the job hunt also attending the excellent newcomers training with Acess Employment. After 3 months, my wife got several job offers in her field and accepted an offer from a multinational conglomerate which was bought over by America's largest bank and she's doing very well there, even training other new employees now. I got my own break after 6 months as I was focused on finding a job equal or higher than my last position in Nigeria. I got several job offers as well from top banks and finally decided to accept an offer from a top 5 bank in a senior position. A lot of people here who follow Canadavisa forum know my story and I'm a good example of favour and determination.

Don't let anyone tell you that settling in Ontario, Toronto or any big city for that matter was a mistake. There are Nigerians who came before us doing very well and many more will come behind and do just as well. Remember, the battle is fought, won or lost in the mind first of all and then the physical manifestation follows. Sure there may be those who are satisfied with playing in smaller ponds but there are also others who take the plunge and swim in big waters. Abraham left a small, humble beginning for great adversity to claim a big destiny, not the other way round. Same for when Joshua led the chosen into the midst of giants and they prevailed. It's never about the size of the dog going to fight but the size of the fight in the dog. If you decide to go to a smaller city and start over, it's good and fine as it's your journey in life. If you decide to stake your claim here and get your prize as God is doing it for those of us here, that's also fine. You can send me a private message to share some further support and maybe connect you with other successful Nigerians/Canadians on ground here so you learn and gain from them. It wont cost me anything to lift you up, it only glorifies God.
The battle is first won in the mind. You hit the nail on the head. Very well said. Thanks for being very articulate in your write up. I am moving to Mississauga soon, would be nice to grab a drink sometime.
TravelRe: Ideas for a Family Vacation In Ghana by TheWatcher212: 3:32pm On Aug 09, 2017
40manlappy:
I would have preferred a family vacation to any of the following island locations: Zanzibar, Seychelles or Mauritius. However, due to the current state of the naira in relation to forex, my wife and I are considering Ghana to conserve scarce resources.

I am fiddling with the thought of booking a beachside hotel to "compensate" for the inability to go to the above-mentioned locations but I would like to ask frequent/recent travellers to the country for their recommendations on good beach hotels in Accra/Ghana that are affordable and nice.

Also, what places of interest would make our vacation worthwhile in Accra/Ghana generally? I have searched for information online but it would be nice to get practical insights.

Also, is it better to use travel agencies for packaged tours?

Thank you.

Go with your ruler if possible and measure the thing when they print them out. If it does not meet the specifications, tell them to reprint it until you are satisfied. You are paying for a service and they must meet your satisfaction.
Anyone wanting to take PPR passport photographs can use BH Stripes at 56 Bode Thomas Street, Surulere, Lagos. They are very professional and know the drill. Thank me later.

if you can please add the IM008 or a letter saying your family composition has not changed.
I did not add it to mine , and was worried so i submitted it through the web form.

the issue is just following instructions to be on the safe side , they said failure to do so might delay the visa process.

Its possible that its not mandatory thou.
You are very right on this. Thank you for the heads up. Cheers.
Have you sent in your passport? How long did it take to come back?

In theory, form IMM008 is not supposed to be compulsory if your family configuration remains unchanged but the experiences of those ahead of us suggests that it may cause delays in visa issuance. Learned that some have had to raise CSEs in order to send this form eventually.

It is for the above reason that it is usually advisable to submit the form along with other requirements even if your family composition remains unchanged and therefore escape avoidable delay.

In my case, what I did was to write a letter stating that there has been no changes in our family configuration. Also, upon delivery of the passports to Accra, I followed up with an email stating same message. Cheers
How long did it take DHL to deliver your passport to Accra? What email address did you send this "email" to?

Many thanks.

Hello great guys, I have a question... Is the fill out of form IM 008 mandatory if nothing has changed about you and you have no dependents traveling with you? Also is there anything else i am missing?

1. Nigerian Passport Document
2. Print out of PPR email.
3. Passport photograph (1 stamped the other unstamped)

Can anyone who has gone past the PPR stage please shed some light?

Many thanks.

Good day guys... Good news, i have gotten PPR. I have a few questions i need answers to and will appreciate if PPL with verifiable experience can help out (dont comman give me theoretical sturvz). I applied as a single/unmarried candidate, but towards the PPR date, my GF (of 3 years) and i started considering marriage. It was my plan to get married before PPR and then add her on, but these things don't always go as planned all the time. My questions;

1. Will it appear suspicious if date of marriage is days after PPR? Would it look like a set up?
2. What is the process of adding a spouse to my application and how long does it take to get COPR from the point of adding her. Does she need to do ECA & IELTS and all that?
3. Is it advisable to continue with my application solo and then file for her after marriage? How long does filing after marriage take and what are the short comings if any?
4. If we choose to get married, i have heard there is a way to fast track and have a registry conduct the marriage between 3-5 days for a fee. How true is this? Does anyone here have any links/contacts?
5. Form IMM8, is this mandatory? Do i also have to list every single member or my family even though they are not traveling with me? A portion on the form asks for an address and destination in Canada. Am i bound by whatever choice i make after submitting this form? I.e. Can i put Toronto on the form and then opt for Manitoba when i choose to go?

Thanks a lot & I look forward to your response.
