Music/Radio / What Do You Usually Write About As An Artist? by thisishiphophq(m): 11:32am On Jan 11, 2020
Listening to great artists like Celine Dion, the Queen of blues or the likes of Tupac and Biggie Smalls (of blessed memories) the greatest that Rap has ever been blessed with. Or the great minds like KRS1 etc. Listening to their music is always on another level because it passes messages of struggle, trouble, pains and success.
Being an artist is a whole lot more than just having good Beats, good producer who does the mastering and mixing work.

Recently, in an interview Dr Dre said Hip Hop is more of quantity this days and no more quality.

Hence, the reason why artists release a song and then it stops making ways after a month or highest six months.

As an artist who wants to be remembered, you have to write something good and say something good that will be remembered even long after you're gone.

So what do you write about as an artist?

don't think they are UAE locals
Music/Radio / Dancers From UAE Hoping To Win International Dance Competition by thisishiphophq(m): 10:46am On Jan 11, 2020
A troupe of around 40 dancers from the UAE are to represent the country in an international Hip Hop dance competition. The troupe - mostly comprises school students from the UAE - is part of Dubai-based Step N Groove (SnG) Dance Studio run by expats Subodh Panangatt and Suresh Kumar for the last 11 years. The age group of the dance troupe is between eight and 40.

The UAE dance troupe will be performing around three to four-minute sequences of various styles of hip hop at the Body Rock Asia competition that will be held in February in Manila, Philippines. Calling themselves the national team of hip-hop dancers from the UAE, the performance of the SnG dancers will be based on an Arabic theme.

"From the theme of the song to costume design, our performance is based on an Arabic theme. Although all participants are expats, this performance is our tribute to the UAE that has brought us together and given us this chance to call it our own country and represent it on an international stage, said Suresh Kumar.

"Going with the values of the UAE, we have a dedicated designer who is working on the design of the costumes to bring in the UAE touch - for example, we are looking to use stylish head-covers. Our song is being composed by a local DJ and has Arabic tunes and we promise to make it unique by bringing in ethnic wear in the colours of the UAE's national flag," he added.

Talking about the selection process, co-founder of SnG Subodh Panangatt said: "We got rejected a couple of times in the last few years and realised that to get selected we need to stand out. This is when we decided to bring different nationalities together as that is the real strength and beauty of the UAE.

"We brought in participants from India, Russia, Nepal, Bangladesh, Philippines among others and worked together to bring out our concept of unity through the unique concept of Arab hip-hop. The tremendous showcase of our dance skills and the beautiful mix of people of different nationalities and age-group definitely helped us get selected for this prestigious show."

For the selection process, the team had to send an unedited video of a dance sequence, without any retakes or cuts. The Body Rock Asia jury then did a video call with the SnG group where they ask the participants to do a performance on the spot, which helped them and gauging the potential of the team before selecting them.

This is the first time a UAE team is participating in Body Rock Asia. While teams from the UAE have taken part in international television dance competitions, this is the first team to take part in an on-stage live dance competition.

Music/Radio / Mally Mall Accused Of Sexual Battery, Drugging And Rape Of A Model by thisishiphophq(m): 10:15am On Jan 11, 2020
In a recent report, a former member of the love and Hip Hop Hollywood cast has been sued by Qushay Davis, a 26-year-old model for allegedly drugging and raping her in his house after inviting her over.

This Sexual Battery charge is the most recent legal woe for producer Mally Mall.

According to her filing, she went to see him in L.A. around this same time last year. Mall was going to talk to her about her career in fitness. When she got to his house, he introduced her to a porn star named Jayla Foxx.

Despite being there to discuss business and having a company, at some point she decided to lay down on his bed to take a nap.
It was then that Mall and Foxx went out to get drinks for everyone. According to her report, she became dizzy and blacked out after taking what she thought was Henessy.

From his love for exotics, you could tell that he is a wild boy.
They eventually told her, as per Davis, that they put Molly in her drink. TMZ reports that upon waking up, she was being massaged by a masseuse. This is where it gets weird.

Davis stated that Mall then started to slap her to stay awake though she was still foggy, she remembers him saying, “You’re my new b*tch,” and “You’re my Jayla number two.” Davis also asserts that he gave her cocaine to take and tried to make her have MouthAction on him, before actually penetrating and raping her.

In her documents, she says he put his full body on her and that she “feared for her life and worried that he would crush or choke her to death.”

TMZ further supports that she went to a medical professional to be examined and evidence shows that her “injuries were consistent with a rape.”

Davis suing him for sexual battery, false imprisonment, gender violence and infliction of emotional and physical distress.

Music/Radio / Is Hip Hop Dying? by thisishiphophq(m): 8:18pm On Jan 10, 2020
Over the years we have witnessed drastic growth in hip hop music, its use as a means of teaching the young blacks kids in the American inner cities by the likes of great veterans like Dr. Dre, Eazy E, Tupac Shakur, Ice Cube e.t.c. We have seen the use of Hip Hop by the afore mentioned great men in the fight against the oppression dealt on blacks by cops. In the movie Straight Outter Comptonit was the major weapon. Although it is often at times associated with drugs, and gang related crimes. Its importance can not be over emphasized. If Biggie Smalls, Tupac and Big Pun were around, they would all break down and weep. Why? Because, Hip Hop is dying. There is no more message, no more creativity. It is more about quantity this days, no more quality.
What is your take?

We talk only Hip Hop, it is our culture..... Strictly Hop Hop.
