SUSPEND SENATOR NED NWOKO NOW

The Delta Legislator Observers (DLO) hereby calls on the Senate Ethics and Privileges Committee to immediately suspend Senator Ned Nwoko, representing Delta North, pending a full and independent investigation into serious allegations and conduct unbecoming of a public officeholder .

Senator Nwoko has been embroiled in disturbing controversies that cast a long shadow over the integrity of the Nigerian Senate and the dignity of Delta State. The following points outline our urgent concerns:

1. Unethical Conduct: Senator Nwoko’s recent public behavior, including his handling of personal crises and his response to allegations, reflects a disregard for the ethical standards expected of a lawmaker.

2. Allegations of Domestic Abuse: Viral videos and statements from his wife, Regina Daniels, suggest a pattern of physical and emotional abuse. While Senator Nwoko has denied these claims and countered with accusations of substance abuse the gravity of the situation demands impartial scrutiny—not political shielding.

3. A Poor Example of Leadership: His actions and public statements have demonstrated a lack of emotional maturity, accountability, and respect for the rule of law. This is not the leadership Delta North deserves.

4. A Disgrace to Delta State: The senator’s conduct has brought embarrassment to the people of Delta State, whose reputation is now unfairly tied to scandal and dysfunction.

5. Misrepresentation of Constituents: Senator Nwoko’s behavior does not reflect the values, priorities, or dignity of the people he claims to represent. His continued presence in the Senate undermines public trust in democratic institutions.

We therefore demand that the Senate Ethics Committee suspend Senator Ned Nwoko immediately. This suspension will allow for an independent and transparent investigation into the allegations without interference or influence from the senator himself.

The Nigerian Senate must show that it holds its members to the highest standards of conduct and accountability. Anything less is a betrayal of the public’s trust.
