Barely 48 hours after disassociating himself from moves by some groups to draft him into the 2023 presidential race, former President Goodluck Jonathan has finally made up his mind to vie for the top post.

Nigeria is set to go to the polls next year in a crowded contest parading many contestants in both the ruling APC and several opposition parties, including the main opposition PDP.

On May 9, Jonathan had rejected presidential expression of interest and nomination forms bought for him by people, described as nomadic Fulani pastoralists and Almajiri communities.



He was quoted as saying that it was an insult for people to buy the form for him without his consent but the former president has now made u-turn on the issue.

A dependable source in Jonathan’s camp, who pleaded anonymity said that the former president had indeed, joined the APC formally, having registered at his Otuoke Ward in Bayelsa.

The source disclosed that Jonathan was expected to submit his completed APC expression of interest and nomination forms bought for him earlier in the week by Fulani groups and pastoralist communities on Thursday.

According to the source, the former president has secured the support of the required number of APC delegates from across the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory.

“Several bigwigs of the party have also been calling Jonathan to pledge their loyalty and support to the former president,’’ the source revealed.

The source told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) political correspondent late on Wednesday that some influential African leaders had called Jonathan earlier on Monday to advise him “to contest the election in the interest of Nigeria.

“At least three top African leaders called the former president on the matter. They all urged him to run.

“One of them specifically told him that it didn’t make sense travelling all over Africa settling disputes only to shy away from leadership responsibility in his home country.

“Another reminded him of the implication of failing to put the experiences he garnered as a former Nigerian president and as a continental statesman to good use,” the source added but did not mention the names of the African leaders.

The source cited some of the African leaders as telling Jonathan that Nigeria was passing through challenging times and “needed a unifier like Jonathan at this time’’.

Jonathan, who lost power to incumbent President Muhammadu Buhari, was born in 1957 in the Ogbia district in Bayelsa State.

He was previously of the PDP party on whose platform he ruled Nigeria until he lost the presidential election to Buhari in 2015.

THE IJAW REPUBLIC PROVINCES.

The Ijaw Liberation Front, ILF, after deliberations among their leaders, have fully arranged the Ijaw Republic Provinces.

According to their leader, General Ditari, while speaking from the Ijaw Republic,
The Ijaw Republic will be making use of the word, Provinces, of which is equivalent to States, and will be making use of the word municipals in place of local government areas.
The Ijaw Republic will be having three geopolitical zones, (Western, Central, Eastern), exactly the way it is, under the 3 apex Ijaw sociocultural organizations.
The Ijaw National Congress, INC, The Lovers of Ijaw Nation organization, LINO and the Ijaw Youth Council, IYC.
The Ijaw National Congress is for elders alone.
The Ijaw Youth Council is for youths alone.
The Lovers of Ijaw Nation Organization is created for both elders and youths to be able to participate together, and equally in same organization.
It is created to be under the INC.
Same structure with the other two.
Each of the 3 Regions of the Ijaw Republic have 7 Provinces (States).
With three Regional Capitals to organize the 7 Provinces (States), in each of their Regions.

Western Region have
Ofunama as Regional Capital.

Central Region have
Koluama as Capital.

Eastern Region have
Finima as Capital.


The Central Region have the Ijaw Republic Capital City, of which is in the Wilberforce Island, the centre of the Ijaw Republic.

These are the Provinces of The Ijaw Republic.


THE WESTERN REGION PROVINCES.

1. WESTERN IJAW PROVINCE
Carries the Ijaws of the Nigeria's Ondo State, with the addition of Gbaraun Clan and the full subtraction of the Furupagha Clan,
The Western Ijaw Province is for the Ijaw clans of
Arogbo, Apoi, and Gbaraun.

Headquarters: Arogbo.


2. BENI-EBE PROVINCE

Carries the Ijaw clans of
Furupagha, Okomu, and Olodiama West Clans.

Headquarters Gelegelegbene.


3.EGBEMA PROVINCE.

Carries the 350 villages and settlements of the Egbema subgroup of Ijaw.

Headquarters Ajakurama.

4. WARE PROVINCE.

Comprises of the whole Ijaws of the Nigeria's Warri lgas, with the subtraction of the part of Egbema of Warri North,

It comprises the Gbaramatu, Ogbe-Ijoh and Isaba clans.

Headquarters Okerenkoko.

Centre of Ware Province.


5. TORU-EBE PROVINCE
Carries the whole Ijaw clans in Nigeria's
Burutu area.

Headquarters Burutu.

6. BOMADI PROVINCE.
Carries the whole Ijaws of Nigeria's Bomadi area.

Headquarters Bomadi.


7. PATANI PROVINCE.

Comprises the whole Ijaws in Nigeria's Patani area.
The
Kabu clan towns of Asamabiri, Elemebiri, Adagbabiri, Ekperiware and Trofani, in Nigeria's Sagbama area goes with their other Kabu relatives to Patani Province.

1. CENTRAL IJAW PROVINCE

Carries Nigeria's Bayelsa West Senatorial District with the subtraction of Okugbe Isoko Kingdom of osekwenike, Abuetor, Okpokiri etc, at the border.

2. SOUTHERN IJAW PROVINCE.
Carries the 103 towns of Nigeria's Koluama district in Southern Ijaw area
Headquarters Furupagha.

3. OPOROMA PROVINCE

Carries the remaining 73 towns in Oporoma district of Nigeria's Southern Ijaw area.

Headquarters Oporoma.

4. NORTHERN IJAW PROVINCE.
Carries all the Ijaw in Nigeria's Kolokuma/Opokuma area Yenagoa area, and the Engenni clan of Nigeria's Ahoada West.

5.OGBIA PROVINCE

Carries the whole Ogbia Ijaw subgroup.

6. NEMBE PROVINCE.

Carries the whole Nembe Ijaw subgroup of Nigeria's Nembe and Brass area,

7. AKAHA PROVINCE.

Carries the whole Ijaws of the Akassa subgroup.

The centre of the Ijaw Republic. The Federal Capital Territory.
