Phones / Nokia Returning To The World Of Smartphones by Thollu01(m): 12:49am On Jul 12, 2016
The Finnish multinational communications and information technology company Nokia signs a strategic brand and intellectual property licensing agreement with the HMD global just to create the new generation of Nokia smartphones and Nokia tablets with the brand.

Nokia announced plans that will see Nokia return marks for telephony and mobile tablets markets on a global basis. Under a strategic agreement covering trademark rights and intellectual property licensing, Nokia Technologies will grant HMD global, a newly established company based in Finland, an exclusive worldwide license to create Nokia mobile phones and tablets with the brand for the next ten years.

Under the agreement, Nokia will receive HMD global Technologies, royalty payments for the mobile product sales with the Nokia brand, which will cover both trademark rights and intellectual property. Hence, the devices will be produced by a subsidiary of Taiwan’s multinational electronics contract manufacturing company Foxconn.

The company, which was once the largest manufacturer in the world of mobile phones, sold its handset business to the tech giant Microsoft in 2014. However, Nokia got their patent and began preparing a return to the market through brand licensing and currently gets most of its revenue from telecommunications equipment.

The Finnish multinational communications and information technology company Nokia HMD will receive the royalty payments related to the sale of products with your brand as we mentioned earlier. “Instead of the Nokia back to produce cell itself, the HMD plans to produce mobile phones and tablets that can enlarge the Nokia brand value in global markets,” said Ramzi Haidamus, head of Nokia’s patent unit.

According to the sources, HMD plans to invest $500 million over the next three years just to develop and promote the products. The funds will apparently come from the investors and the profits will come from the newly-acquired feature phone business. Although it has been made clear that the Finnish multinational communications and information technology company Nokia’s involvement in the new devices will be very short, but it will be a part of HMD’s committee and will set compulsory brand demands and performance-related equipment.

The HMD is a newly established company, controlled by Smart Connect, an investment fund managed by Jean-Francois Baril, the former employee of Nokia. Moreover, the Finnish multinational communications and information technology company Nokia still did not give any details about releases of new handsets. So, it is still under wraps that what version of Android Nokia will offer in its upcoming smartphones.

Phones / Blackberry Will Soon Launch 3 New Smartphones by Thollu01(m): 6:10am On Jul 09, 2016
The BlackBerry does seem willing to recover their representativeness and a good share of the mobile market. Despite the low sales of its first smartphone with Android, the Priv, the company is preparing to launch no less than three new devices with the Android operating system, which should reach one per quarter until March 2017.

The rumors came from sources close to the manufacturer, who refused to be identified, but may be considered legitimate due to old statements of the BlackBerry CEO John Chen. Earlier this year, John Chen already affirmed that the company was working to launch two more Android devices, but did not say when we would see.

However, an announcement is yet to be made, the specifications of the smartphones are already leaked. Rumors say that the first to reach the market between July and August will be the Neon. With Snapdragon 517 processor, 3 GB of RAM and 5.2-inch screen while the camera will be 13 megapixels and the front will be 8 megapixels.

The another device BlackBerry Argon specifications are little more robust compared to the BlackBerry Neon, The device would have Snapdragon 820 processor, along with 4GB of memory RAM . The screen would be 5.5 inches and the device would also a biometric sensor, as well as 21-megapixel rear camera and the front one will be 8 megapixels. The launch would be scheduled for October or November.

Finally, the last one to launch was the BlackBerry Mercury, it will be an intermediate device which will have the conventional physical keyboard of the brand, in a touchscreen of 4.5 inches. Inside, it will have Snapdragon 625 processor and 3GB of RAM while the camera will be 18 megapixels and the front one will be 8 megapixels.

The use of Android on their devices being the way found by the company to recover the old relevance in the mobile market, especially in the corporate division. While making it clear that it will continue supporting its own operating system, BlackBerry 10, the company seems more interested in the Google operating system, even with the failure of Priv sales, which had only 600,000 units sold worldwide in the first quarter 2016.

In addition to the statements of John Chen made at the beginning of the year, there is no confirmation that the mentioned models are real, and the same goes for the release dates. However, if the BlackBerry really plans to launch a new smartphone with Android already this month, it is possible that this revelation is at hand. For now, the company did not score any events with the press or discussed about it.

Phones / Google Is Building Two Android Wear Smartwatches Of Its Own With Google AI by Thollu01(m): 7:42pm On Jul 07, 2016
According to the sources, Android Police claims to have an exciting information about the next upcoming Google android wear. As we all know that, Google had already manufactured laptops like Chromebook Pixel, tablets (Pixel C), and also streaming devices like Chromecast.

According to Andriod Police, Google’s upcoming Android wearables aren’t from Samsung or LG. These are claimed to be 100 percent Google in-house Android wear, Google will probably launch the new wearables as Nexus-brand but will be released after the launch of Nexus upcoming smartphones.

According to the sources, the upcoming Android wearables from Google are codenamed as Angelfish and Swordfish.

Angelfish, would be a larger and would rather provide for sports activities, will share a sporty look. This could be equipped with a 4G connection, a GPS chip, and a pulse sensor. The circular Android wear will have three buttons on its side. “Angelfish” would fit somewhere in between the 42mm and 46mm sizes of Lenovo’s Moto 360.

The next one will be “Swordfish” which is expected to be smaller and would operate with a single button. Swordfish will not have GPS and LTE. Swordfish Android wearables are compared in design to the Pebble Time Round. Swordfish would provide a diameter of 42 mm it will come in three colors Silver, Titanium and Rose Gold.

Both the smartwatches will offer Google Assistant integration which was announced at Google I/O this year.

Google hasn’t actually announced anything yet. So, we have to wait a few more months to see them appear on the market. As we have already mentioned, Google will probably launch the new wearables as Nexus-brand but will be released after the launch of Nexus upcoming smartphones.

There are tons of Play Store apps that claim to boost smartphone performance, but few of them actually work. Task killers are notorious for falsely claiming to 'make your phone faster'. The truth is, it's not as simple as just pressing a button to make things better. We've dug up a few of the apps that genuinely can boost your Android performance.

Phones / Android Lollipop Tips And Tricks: Get The Most Out Of Your Device by Thollu01(m): 4:35pm On Jul 02, 2016
Android Lollipop was launched back in 2014 and is available on many Android devices. To help you get the most out of your handset, here are some of the best tips and tricks for Android Lollipop – and they might help you avoid some of its problems, too.

Quickly Access More Settings
You can get access to more options in your notifications bar. Instead of swiping down with one finger, twice, try swiping with two. This shortcut will bring you immediately to your quick settings menu, where you can adjust your brightness and access Wi-Fi options, among other things.

Optimize Your Lock Screen Security
Android Lollipop comes with a variety of lock screen security options. You can choose from the classic pattern, PIN, password or fingerprint reader (so long as your device is equipped for it). Whatever device you have, make sure you choose to secure your device against unauthorized use.

Getting to your security settings in Android Lollipop is easy. Go into Settings and tap Lock screen and hit Screen lock, which should appear at the top (for some, it will be in the Security settings). From there you can choose between the different options. It's recommended that you choose the PIN or password option because they are the most difficult to crack. Swipe is easy to figure out as someone glancing can easily pick up your pattern.

Customize Your Lock Screen
Speaking of your lock screen, you can also customize it to your liking on many Lollipop devices. Go back into your Lock screen from the Settings menu. From here you can choose between a number of different items you want on it.

On Samsung TouchWiz devices, for example, you can choose what kind of clock you want by tapping on the Clock size and Dual clock settings. The Clock size menu is pretty self-explanatory. In the Dual clock settings you can choose whether you want the phone to display the local time along with your home time when you're roaming. You can also choose whether you want the date under the clock.

You can get a camera shortcut in the lock screen if you take a lot of pictures and don't mind if the device is unlocked first. You can get weather information too by checking the box. If you want more time before your phone locks you can tap Lock automatically and choose another duration. You can also choose whether the phone will lock automatically by checking the Lock instantly with power key box.

Put Chrome Tabs Back in Chrome
This isn't a huge problem — and maybe you like having your Chrome for Android tabs spread across your recent apps stack rather than in the browser — but for me, it's an irritating default setting.

Fortunately, all you need to do to get your Chrome tabs back to their rightful place is to go to Chrome settings and disable Merge tabs and apps. Your Chrome tabs will now be accessible via the traditional button on the URL bar in the Chrome browser.

Ditch That Dead Email App
For some odd reason, Google decided to keep the now useless Email app in Android Lollipop. When you launch it for the first time, you'll get a splash screen that tells you Gmail is now handling Email services, and you can check the box to launch Gmail instead.

But why do that and have a hollow app sitting in your app drawer? Go to Settings > Apps > All tab, find Email and disable that useless waste of space. Your emails will still be handled by Gmail but you won't have the dead app icon cluttering up your precious app drawer.

Make Your Battery Go Further
Android Lollipop comes with a new battery saving modes. For most devices you just need to go to Settings tap Battery hit the menu (the three dots at the top right of the screen) and choose Battery saver. You will save battery as a result.

If you have a Galaxy S5, HTC One M8 and a few other devices you have a new power saving mode. Just go to your Settings and tap Power saving. From here you can toggle Power saving mode. You can also activate Ultra power saving mode to really save your battery.

Phones / How To Use Your Broken Smartphone From A PC by Thollu01(m): 8:58am On Jul 02, 2016
Unfortunately , smashing the screen of your precious smartphone is a common occurrence. If this has happened to you and you’ve gotten the famous spider-web on the unresponsive touchscreen, you don’t have to say goodbye to your device yet. You can use it from your PC. Here's how.

How To Recover Data If Your screen Is Broken But You Can See The Display

If you've broken your touch screen but the display is still working (you can see it) you can fix it by using a USB OTG (On The Go) and a mouse to connect to your device. A USB OTG connects mobile devices to other devices. Basically, your Android device has a mini-USB and you need to connect it to the mouse that has a USB. The USB OTG connects these. If you need further information on USB OTGs, click the link below.

Once you have the mouse connected, you can unlock your device whether you have a pattern, PIN or password. We recommend using passwords anyways because they are highly secure.

Now that your phone is unlocked, you can connect it to your computer and either transfer the data you need to your microSD memory or connect it directly to your PC and transfer the files there.

How To Recover Data If Your Screen Is Off

If you can't see your screen, you might need to get a VNC program. There are plenty on the market and you should be sure to pick one that's safe and free. These programs bring your Android interface onto your PC so you can control it from there.

In order to use these programs, you'll need to download the program to your PC but also on your Android device. There are some paid programs out there too but usually include more features than this. So if you want something more extensive you can grab one of these instead.

If You Still Can't Get Your Data

Getting your data off your phone by taking it to a shop that can fix it could be another solution. Yes, this option costs money but you'll not only have your data but you'll also have your phone fixed.

Make sure you ask around for a reputable repair shop. Once the phone has been repaired they can easily go in and steal your data. If you go to one of the big dealers you'll probably pay more but you'll also be less likely to get ripped off.

You need a better phone. VLC doesn't reduce the quality of videos one bit. I have full 1080p videos of 4gb and above that I watch with VLC on my phone and tablet and there's no frame drop. MX player is also a solid media player but ever since it started having some audio codec issues I stopped using it. VLC is da BOMB.

Phones / 5 Things You Shouldn't Do With Your Android Device by Thollu01(m): 5:03pm On Jul 01, 2016
We use our smartphones for many things in our professional and private lives. Therefore, we should try to ensure they last as long as possible. Many take precautions like installing anti-virus software and closing background apps, but are these steps really necessary? Here are five things you're doing wrong with your Android device.

1. Using task killers or manually closing applications
Many of us use task killers or close applications manually from the recent apps menu. But without realizing it that could be harming the performance of our device.

When we first open an app, part of its data is becomes stored in the RAM. This means that when you open the app a second time, it will load faster because of the existence of this previously cached data.

If you remove the app from the recent apps menu, or delete the cache, the data stored in the RAM is lost also. If you then wish to reopen it you have to start this process again.

Only close applications if you must, for instance, if they are draining a lot of battery or occupying too many resources while in the background.

2. Using more than one antivirus app
If you feel that you need an antivirus program on your Android device then you should bear in mind that they take up resources like RAM and battery: these are intensive applications that run in the background all the time. But having more than one doesn't make you safer. If you decide to use an antivirus app then make sure you choose wisely among the many available and only use one at a time.

3. Ignoring software updates
The operating system of your smartphone needs to be updated periodically to repair deficiencies in security. As soon as you notice an update, accept it. You can even set up your Android device to update automatically. The security of your phone will thank you. It will perform better and be more efficient.

4. Downloading applications from unreliable sources
Android APK files can be manipulated to contain malicious software which can infect your device. Make sure all your downloads come from reliable sources such as the Google Play Store.

5. Not restarting your smartphone
There is a lot of controversy surrounding this topic. However, rebooting your device once a week is 'healthy'. On the one hand, memory is saved and temporarily cached data is deleted because it is no longer needed. On the other hand, sometimes memory is blocked and that temporary data is not deleted, which can lead to slowdowns.
