Eterna was incorporated on the 13th of January 1989 as Eterna Oil & Gas Limited and commenced business in 1991. It was later re-registered as a public limited Company in 1997.

In its bid to carve a niche as a manufacturer and marketer of reliable, efficient and high quality lubricants and oil products, Eternal established a technical trading relationship with Castrol BP in 1991 – Castrol BP is a pioneers in global lubricant technology and special chemicals. The relationship gave rise to a distributorship agreement and an exclusive right to import and market Castrol products in Nigeria and the ECOWAS sub-region.

Today, Eternal lubes blending plant is world class with a state of the art laboratory in Africa to manufacture Castrol and Eterna products to cater for the West African markets.

Eternal have significantly expended its fuels and marketing capabilities through the following acquisitions in order to enhance our cashflows and profitability:

A Coastal Tank Farm in Lagos with a capacity of 34 million Litres, An Aviation Fuel Depot at the Bill Clinton Drive, near Nnamdi Azikwe Airport, Abuja, To serve the petroleum products needs of the Eastern and Southern markets, and Roll-out of numerous filling stations across the country.

The three sails of its logo represent its planned integration in the oil sector – upstream, midstream and downstream

Sails were chosen as its symbol because sailing is about harnessing natural resources for movement and the adventure of crossing boarders. There is a sense of freedom and timelessness which comes with sailing and which reflects aspects of the Eterna spirit
The Border around the logo conveys stability that Eterna now has. Eternal is a company that has had experiences from which it has drawn, resulting in a stronger, better grounded company.

The colours of the logo are yellow, orange and green, a vibrant combination deliberately chosen to demonstrate the energy and vision of the company as well as its concern for the environment.

The name is written using a type face which is attractive, yet simple. The use of small ‘e’ for Eterna shows the youthful, innovative and informal company that it is.
