Politics › Re: As They Prepare To Close Alaba International Market by tiger28: 7:15am On Jan 12 |
owobokiri: They have started as usual with their negative propaganda. It is a predictable template; defame a geoup/party/region and then use soldiers and the Police to destroy the source of their income. You tell yourself so much lies in a lifetime that at a point you start believing your own lies. They have always wanted to trend a warped narrative that South Eastern businesses thrive based on fake products. They used to say it was juju. That lie didn't fly long enough, so the new one... When you can't compete, you would want to do damage to the intergrity of the guy who out-competed you..
So they went to Onitsha and closed the whole medicine market for most of last year! Unannounced! Both the innocent and the guilty were all lumped into one place and summarily punished without remorse. Families were left stranded. Bread winners were left with no work for months. Instead of identifying those who did wrong, a blanket attack on the whole stalls and warehouses in the market that runs into thousands shops with teilkion naira worth of goods, was orchestrated with the help of the security agencies. Shops were looted, unconstitutional fines imposed and lives wrecked. It took the coming of VDM to open their nyaansh. In the end, we didn't see them destroy the trillions naira worth of medicines they seized. The whole seized products went into thin air..
Having been very successful with that test run, they have started towards Alaba market. They have always wanted to unravel that very Alaba market, but since medical or food products were not sold there, finding "terrifying" excuses to invade have been very tortuous. They waited a long time without finding aa good excuse to attack.. So they threw a hail Mary with one propaganda video of fake TVs being repackaged. Within hours, the Lagos government that has been practically aloof to her duties in many sectors, started yapping rudderlesly. Standard Organisation of Nigeria (SON) who gave the certifications for all imports started barking. They even got LG to start talking, yet no investigations have been made!
You need no one to tell you what this is all about. It is a prelude to invade Alaba international market with touts and to vandalise the place the same way they did at Onitsha Drugs/Medicines market. In few days, you will hear that a contingent of the military, the police, the civil defence and Co, have been drawn to the market to seal it off, so that the government will investigate reported cases of fake products in the market. That will most probably last for months as the Lagos media is unleashed to saturate the whole place with negative articles about bad business activities in the market.... All these while corruption and fakery thrive in other areas, including the areas they dominate. Same way they were carting away trucks of medicines at Onitsha while their agbo sellers were busy wrecking kidneys..
We have been here before. We know what is going on. It is called "economic terrorism". We are witnessing a situation where the states coercive instruments are being used to fight sectional battles. This country is a mess in terms of her abilities to maintain standards in every sector. So there is nothing bad in fighting to upgrade and uphold greater standards across board! What is wrong though is when a vindictive/sectional party in power, out of ethnic animosity, unleashes a well choreographed sectional "fight" against corruption/fake products/criminal behaviour in the country, with the ultimate goal of destabilising other ethnic/regional/religious or interest groups. That is a tribal attack being decorated as a national fight right there..
That is not how you build a country.., That is how you destroy a country.. Stop Foaming in the mouth! Then just go back to Onitsha and continue your illegality there jor! |

Trust me , I lived in Yankee for many Decades.
This lady probably is doing MORE than JUST storing the Barrels. With heavy trucks becoming nuisance picking up and dropping off shipments. Loading and unloading palm oil etc and redistributing them to other containers…. I have seen it all!
Instead of renting shops, they will use their homes as storage. Her Neighbors who pay the SAME Home Association fees probably just got tired of the Heavy Traffic! |

simpleseyi: . Haven’t you seen that we have stripped Kwakwanso nakked at the market square? It’s same way we stripped Jonathan nakked when he started doing night meetings with our enemies, we moved every political office holder in his home state to APC; have you heard Jonathan for President since that time? It’s the same thing we just did for Kwakwanso, we have merged the Kwakwanssiyya movement with Team JAGABAN, anyone who is not with Team JAGABAN in Kano is not in Kwakwanssiyya. So Kwakwanso is currently an orphan and also a barren. Next, you will see Atiku’s state governor, that’s the governor of Adamawa sign for Team JAGABAN, or don’t you wonder why the guy has been silent since? Isn’t he supposed to have moved with Atiku to ADC? But he is currently doing his medicals with our team doctor.
It’s called Hurricane JAGABAN Best analysis so far! |

Politics › Re: No Tax If You Are Earning Below ₦800k Annually by tiger28: 7:28pm On Jan 02 |
DoTheNeedful: You are just being overly critical. A minimum wage earner earns 840,000 in a year. Based on the new tax law, the 40,000 on top of the 800,000 is taxed at 15%, which means that a minimum wage earner pay 6,000 naira per year (500 per month) in tax. A minimum wage earner pays more than this in the old tax regime.
Many of you that criticize do so either maliciously or due to ignorance.
Our tax collection rate in Nigeria is one of the poorest even in Africa. The understanding of tax by Nigerians terrible. Many of you need to get it into your heads that tax payment is vital for any society to thrive. Yet many of Nigerians compare Nigeria to Countries that their citizens have high taxation compliance. Most of the Nairalanders that complain about government every day here hardly pay income tax. Do traders pay income tax ? Mechanics , market sellers, hawkers etc Abeg! |
