Ondo 2024: We will mobilise for Ohunyeye to be our Party flagbearer - APC Youth Group.

A politically inclined Youth group in Ondo State under the ageis of Ondo State APC Youth Forum has reiterated its strong determination and readiness to work unanimously for Gen. Olamide Ohunyeye to be the All Progressive Congress party flagbearer for the November gubernatorial election in the State.

In a statement released in Akure on Friday after the group weekly meeting, the Spokesman of the Forum, Odunayo Issac described Ohunyeye as the right man for the Ondo State job who can stablize the State politically while also having the capacity to make the State work again in all facets.

The group stated that, "having scouted and examined all the aspirants within the All Progressives Congress jostling for Ondo State number one seat, considering their experience and antecedents in public sectors, their contributions towards the development of the State economically especially in terms of security, Gen. Olamide Ohunyeye towers above them all".

Issac, in the press release reiterated that "Ondo State APC Youth Forum is ready to join forces with the party leadership in the State both in persuasion and lobbying to ensure that Gen. Olamide Ohunyeye gets the required votes and necessary supports to be the party’s flagbearer".

They said, they were sure the spirit of fairness by President Tinubu would give level play ground for all the aspirants to produce someone with great experience and antecedents worthy of emulation as Gen. Olamide Ohunyeye as the party’s candidate.

"We are ready for the primary elections, whether, direct, indirect or whatever procedure, we are pitching our tent with a product that's acceptable to the people of Ondo State, Gen. Olamide Ohunyeye is a brand name that can be trusted because of his track records in the military, it's going to be a smooth ride for Gen. Ohunyeye", the group assured.

The All Progressives Congress primary election in Ondo State is scheduled to hold on the 25th of April, 2024 while the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had announced November 16, 2024 as the date for the Governorship election in Ondo State.

The National Association of Ilaje Students (NAIS) National body through her President Comrade Agbejoye Kehinde Oluwatomisin has given Mr. Sam Erejuwa, the Chairman of the Ondo State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (OSOPADEC), a week ultimatum to disburse the outstanding bursary payments owed to students in Ilaje and Ese-odo for 2022/2023 academic session. If these payments are not made within the given timeframe, Elder Sam Erejuwa should consider to step down from his position as the Chairman of OSOPADEC because the Student body and the people of Ilaje and Ese-odo will not longer tolerate his lost of sight at the OSOPADEC and will be ready to take full action against him._

_According to the President, "the student body is deeply and highly disappointed at Sam Erejuwa's leadership in OSOPADEC, and the perceived waste of resources on programs that have not been shown to benefit the people of Ilaje and Ese-odo. He further stated that Sam Erejuwa has lost sight in the commission's core mandate to develop the oil-producing areas of the state, and has instead focused on vanity projects that do little to address the real needs of the people._

Alutarized greetings to the Management of the best University of Science and Technology in Nigeria. It is with deep and humane concern that the Ondo State Campus Monitoring Committee of the National Association of University Students write the tenacious Management of the leading citadel of learning.

The news of the immunity on the rampage has been brought to our notice and it is imperative that the management of OAUSTECH be summoned to action as regards the ongoing malady. We are tired of the management feeling complacent as regards the safety of students on campus. The primary duty of any school management is to ensure the safety of lives and properties of the students both on-campus and off-campus, it must be blatantly spelled out that the management has failed in enforcing security.

In our recent meeting with the Ondo State Commissioner of Police who was ably represented by his deputy and the PPRO, Officials of the NAUS CMC Ondo State discussed overall security concerns of the University Students of the Sunshine State, proposals were made including dispatching of a special police department or unit to actively conquer security issues affecting Students of our Campuses, orienting Students on general security protocols, training and supporting Students’ securities operating among the Students, speedily prosecuting perpetrators of social vices and crimes against our Students and Campuses, actively combating and discouraging cultism in our Campuses, etc. Since the meeting till now, more security concerns have emanated from Students, especially students of Olusegun Agagu University of Science and Technology(OAUSTECH) than other Campuses, issues even necessitating a two weeks break issued by the institution management.

The Ondo State Campus Monitoring Committee, the apex decision making body for all Students from the University Cadre, is determined to defend and serve the Students populace of all our Campuses within the Sunshine State, we receive with displeasure the sardonic news of the deteriorating security situation in OAUSTECH, which has even necessitated a two weeks break by the Management to seek and implement solutions to curb the insecurities in the university and Students’ residences after a solidarity movement was called for by the Students against incessant robbery and rape of Students by Unknown menacing individuals lurking freely.

The Ondo State Campus Monitoring Committee hereby declares her willingness to collaborate with all relevant stakeholders and parties to University Education and Security Agencies in seeking and implementing all necessary measures to combating insecurities among our Students’ residences and Campuses and, sequel to this, we hereby urge the OAUSTECH Management as well as the Management of all our Campuses to cooperate and effectively liaise with NAUS, our SUGs, the government, Security Agencies, Stakeholders and concerned parties or individuals to jointly mitigate against the degenerating security situations facing our Students and Campuses within the Sunshine State.

A summon to action and a beckoning to safety alarm is been sounded by the NAUS CMC ONDO STATE to OAUSTECH management as we look forward to receive positive action by them We reassure the victims of these incursions that the perpetrators will be brought to book and justice shall prevail.

Over the last two weeks, The Niger Delta Youth Movement of Ondo State axis dissented and locked the NDDC branch office in Ondo State at Igbokoda, in a bid to guarantee the commission lives to its credo of creation.

After many days of stampeding the commission in demand of what is best for the mandate region, it stood out enough to be noticed by the Director managing the commission activities since there is no board to head the commission as contained act of the Commission.

Comr. Nejo Oriade (CHAIRMAN, ONDO STATE NDYM) calmed the protesters and tended the quintessence of the dissent which is driven on 3 tumults which are: 1 ) The. Federal Government must constitute the board of NDDC within 7 days

2) The Managing Director of the board must be from Ondo State.

3) All abandoned projects of NDDC in mandate area must be completed.

Comr. Nejo Oriade on the update from the Sen Apkabio (Minister, Ministry of Niger Delta) that the board will be appointed before month end. we are allowing him few weeks to connect with the more significant position authority and carry out this or, in all likelihood we will return again to lock up the commission till our requests are implied.

It is imperative to clearly reiterate our concerned and tireless effort on issues affecting us the mandate area and we will continue to be an advocate for good governance and peaceful co-existence in our region.

INTRODUCTION

To know the way forward, certain cognitive measures must be enacted on the chronological happenings of events. The indiscretion of the Nigerian Insanity began in 1966, not quite long after the independence, the emergence of men who have sworn to circumvent the truth for their aggrandizement and self-advancement has led the Nigerian state to its Insanity. Insanity is the absence of normalcy, a relative permanent disorder of the mind, and can also be termed as mental incompetency, in light of this, the Nigerian state over the last two decades has offered nothing but a complete abysmal ordeal executed by the state itself.

The word normalcy has never been a subject matter to the Nigerian state, the aberration began when the Nigerian State Hegemony began a complicit action to subjugate the will of the people by depriving its subjects right to citizenship, certainly, the Nigerian state has no citizen if we are to go by who a Citizen is. A citizen is a person who has the potent ability to Express his or her sovereign will to the state and has the freedom to exercise his or her fundamental rights irrespective of his or her defining status, a man’s sovereign will and fundamental right has been put in subjection by the state which renders such a person less a citizen. An officer of the state will not see unarmed protesters as a threat if truly they are citizens as promulgated by the state while the evil thereof is that the state has successfully intricately spelled out who are citizens to its officer and the officer in his impoverished mind, who has lost his capacity to think critically and has embraced the elitist delusion, thinks he becomes the citizen of the state by obeying such a dictate.

The Nigerian state hegemony has fully devoted itself to a scheme of
poverty weaponization against its subject. The predicated insecurity of today is a precipitate action of the failed state, the detrimental implosion of insurgencies we have today are excesses the state refused to curb, a very abnormal reality in a sane society.

The reality of an average Nigerian man is a Werey in Disguise as used by Dele Farotimi, it takes an insane person to live in an insane society. The abnormalities of a sane society have become the norms we celebrate. Shall we talk about the insanity of our state? Only an insane society permits a man who has been found guilty of a fraudulent act or a grand perpetrator of theft to be made the EFCC chairman, such irregularities exist within the arms of the Nigerian state. The abnormalities we see have become our favorite; the Werey is in Disguise waiting to be Unveiled.

*The concept of the state*

A lot of school of thoughts running through my mind as I can’t articulate my point on what the question should be, whether as to talk about what is a state or who is a state?. The Nigerian State Hegemony has made a twist of the phenomenon, the ideal question should be what is a state not who is a state but in a jurisdiction whereby we have the jurisprudence of the state taken aback illegitimately, by individuals parading themselves as the state, abnormalities are bound to occur.
The State is essentially a sovereign entity with the inclusion of a people, geographical jurisdiction, and a ruling Hegemony. The state has the sovereign will to protect and promote the interest of its citizens but when the state has been relinquished of its duty from being a sovereign entity by individuals parading themselves as the state, abnormalities become the order of the day. The Nigerian state lost its sovereignty in 1966 and completely went into perpetual oblivion in 1999, after the promulgation of the 1999 constitution. The will to protect the interest of the people was lost and the state began to feed on its delegates, the Nigerian budget for the last two decades made no provision for the poor people but its existence was only for the interest of the rich and the promotion of the will of the powerful.

The complicit act of the state began when the law was made futile, people in power then became the determining factor of the law guiding the state and they decide who the defaulters of the state are. The political brigands of the Nigerian State ushered the state into a realm guarded by outlawry where the people’s will became of no importance and the people of the Nigerian state were robbed of their fundamental human rights. The impunity undergirding the Nigerian state has relinquished the people of their state will, and made them complacent about the foul happenings of the Nigerian state.

The incursion of this effect was so bad that the Nigerian people were comfortable selling their vote for as little as five thousand Naira to make a decision that will last them 4years. The state has withheld the people’s ability to critically think by impoverishing their minds with poverty and illiteracy, an illiterate man is at the mercy of nobody has long as the state provides him with the resources he needs to survive. Nothing is worse than when an illiterate fellow is poverty-stricken, at that point he becomes vulnerable and he is placed at the mercy of the state, even when he has the ability to choose for the betterment of his household,  he considers his poverty first, then he succumbs to the five thousand Naira given to him by the state to sell his vote. He has been robbed of his right to decision-making by the same state he pays allegiance to, misdemeanor is taken to be better when the evil becomes modernized while the generation becomes compromised.

*The Insanity we see*

The craziness is all around us, we have normalized the idiosyncrasies of the Werey in Disguise. The insanity of the Nigerian state moved from the ruling hegemony of the state to the people. A Yoruba proverb says “Ti ewe ba pe Lara ose, o ma di ose”, the longer a leaf stays in soap, the easier it transformation into soap. In the advent of the flowing Insanity, the delegates of the state see an anomaly as a norm, so they begin a process of conformity to that which is irrational to a sane mind. Corruption and state brigandage are accepted into the society, and the people behave as though nothing has happened. The degradation of the justice system by people in power and the abuse of social justice becomes normalcy. Broad day kidnapping and banditry are likened as to a business enterprise, how on earth in a sane society will the Hegemony of a functional state negotiate with terrorists, such insanity exist within the borders of our state. The interdiction of IPOB members as terrorist groups while we have the Fulani-herdsmen parading themselves across the horizon of the state committing genocide, yet the state hegemony has not come to realize the fact that, the Werey has crossed the Rubicon.

The lunacy we nurture has so much grown wings that its excess has grown past the edge of reformation. A student of the state who attends a conventional university with the aim of acquiring formal education has come to accept the normalcy of the ASUU/ASUP strike. The sanity of the state has been robbed; we all roam the market stark naked.
It becomes a reality that a resident of the state cannot travel within the borders of two neighboring towns without the fear of being attacked by assailants, the consciousness of the insecurity predicated by the state has created a repugnant image in the heart of the people. The involvement of Alaafin of Bourdillon, and the Lagos state government in the lekki genocide in Oct 2020, remains a mystery to date, such obscene incidents can not occur in a sane society.

The litany of the Nigerian State Insanity is an endless list, talking about Nepotism, Ethnic Bigotry, pantamification, the fascist dictatorship of the ruling hegemony, and the thwarted representation of the media.
 
 
*Conclusion*

In all of these abnormalities, only a few have the potent ability to retain sanity. To be a victim of these insanities is not a question of if, but a question of when. Day after day the proximity of the incursions around us keeps drawing nigh, but I await a time when the subjects of the state will forcefully chase out this ruling hegemony and demand a change. But until then, the Werey still remains in Disguise; waiting for the time to be unveiled.

The National Association of University Students [NAUS], Campus Monitoring Committee Ondo State, led by Comr. Joel O. Taiwo (JOELISTIC JOEL) has donated varieties of fruits package to all the Muslim Students Society of Universities in Ondo state who are observing a time of holy consecration through fasting during this Ramadan period. The Institutions include; Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko, Federal University of Technology, Akure, Olusegun Agagu University of Science and Technology, Okitipupa and University of medical sciences, Ondo.

Zaid ibn Khalid Johni related that the Prophet (peace be upon him) said: “He who provides for the breaking of the Fast of another person earns the same merit as the one who was observing Fast without diminishing in any way the reward of the latter.” (Tirmidhi)

It must be well known that the welfarism of the huge Nigerian Students is our utmost priority and we subsequently make bold to reiterate that this administration will always do everything in its capacity to effect smile on the face of our Students. NAUS is a body where University students can always make their requests known with such requests swiftly channeled to the appropriate quarters for neccesary action.

Less we forget, the Month of Ramadan is a month where all Muslims observe sanctity as I implore our Muslims students across Ondo state to learn the act of consecration in a time like this and utilize this holy month to intercede for the Irregularities that has befallen our country.

Of the millions of families that worshipped at Christ Mercyland Deliverance Ministry, a.k.a Mercy City, Warri, Delta state, Nigeria, on the 29th of November, 2020, none could have foreseen that God would avert a major disaster that would forever have tainted the joy and reputation of their beloved church.What would have been a dark day in the history of the church was turned around for good. 

During service hours, three young men identified as ThankGod Joseph, Israel Unyime, and —— were seen loitering in a suspicious manner, in the church premises and were detained by staff of the church security team for questioning. It was discovered that these cohorts, originally four in number, had been armed with demonic charms, and sent on a specific mission to abduct children from the Mercy City premises, for rituals.


The four men, one of whom is still at large, were offered 200,000 naira each, to successfully carry out this demonic mission. They were well on their way to achieving their aim; armed with diabolical materials that would cause any child they engaged in conversation to promptly become obedient to them and do their bidding. It was upon entering the church premises that they realized that a greater power existed. ___ confesses that confusion struck the team upon their entrance into the church premises.


He immediately decided that he wanted no hand in child abduction and the team started to get into a frenzy as they lost their sense of reasoning. It was indeed a miracle that this group of bandits was discovered, considering the high level of activity that one would typically see in the Mercy City premises. Unless the Lord guards the city, the watchman keeps awake in vain.

Ondo Governor Rotimi Akeredolu has been declared winner of the October 10, 2020 governorship election.
INEC Returning Officer, Prof Idowu Olayinka, declared the candidate of the All Progressives Congress(APC) winner with 292,830.

Candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Eyitayo Jegede polled 195,791 while Agboola Ajayi of the Zenith Labour Party (ZLP) scored 69,127 votes.

The incumbent governor won 15 of the 18 Local Government Areas results declared by INEC while his closest rival, Jegede, won in three local government areas and Ajayi failed to win none, including his LGA where he lost to his principal.

Akeredoku polled 292,830, as against Jegede who garnered 195,791.
