If you have never read about FDR’s New deal promises I encourage you to do.
During the Great Depression he promised to put measures to stop a new recession, he promised to strike out 100 programs within his first 100 days in office which he did
Many of them were stricken down as unconstitutional by political hacks know as judges as we have them today
And example that wanted to be stricken down was the SSA
Now every American knows how important the SSA is 80 years after FDR brought it
Same as the FDIC
Because a set of political hacks claim an act is “unconstitutional” doesn’t mean it’s wrong; the constitution is almost 300 years old
Surely modern day policies might be unconstitutional.

ono: Comments like these speak to the moral depravity that's rampant, ravaging the US in particular and the world in general. This mindset is of no one else than the Devil, and the result of some demonic possession. Go get help my guy. Moral depravity ? Did I tell you to abort yours ? How does it concern you and the government what I and my partner does to our bodies This is the problem with you people; your moral view is not the moral view of everyone |

basilico: Oh my You must be a casanova judging from the way you are in favor of abortions. Easy for you. Just make out and if things go wrong Roe v Wade makes sure you never pay child support. Just my opinion. In other words I think you are stating matters out of personal interests. Lol; and how does that concern you ? Did I impregnate your mother and I didn’t take care of you ? If you don’t get out of my sight with your ridiculous assumptions. Btw if I impregnate my girlfriend today I can take care of both her and the child that would come forth and if she doesn’t want the child my state of Pennsylvania still does abortions. Good riddance. |

subsidywise18: Even then, better to get a law enshrining your rights...privacy or otherwise. Or else.....
Rights mean nothing when they are not backed up by law. You do have a point I agree It should be law But my point right here is They are numerous Supreme Court landmarks that aren’t laws For example brown v board of education; there is no exact law upholding it But it is a settled precedent But it’s obvious if more right wing judges get there they can turn it an leave it to state right. Which is absolutely bullshit |

subsidywise18: Sorry for quoting you again, but here is this article on Ruth Bader Ginsburg's critique of Roe vs Wade...
Ruth Bader Ginsburg wasn't a fan of Roe v Wade. I mean we can argue about the part of the constitution it should be She has her own reasons for wanting it under equal protection But as you can see she wasn’t asking for a constitutional amendment or a law Because even judges expect it to be a settled case under the right to privacy |
Foreign Affairs › Re: American Politics Thread: Trump Is The 47th President! by Timiofak(m): 1:28pm On Jun 25, 2022 |
subsidywise18: Ok...the Supreme court recently struck down a law on guns in New York....reason being it contravened the second ammendment.
On abortion...where is the federal law on abortion? Constitutional amendment.? If there was one, the conservatives won't have had any choice. All those constitutional originalists would have said...Abortion is the law...and we would be looking at 9-0 infavour of abortion rights.
Even civil rights....the states rights folks of the 1950's and 60'S HAD NO CHANCE...because the 13th and 14th amendment not only guaranteed the rights of black Americans as citizens, it also guaranteed their rights not to be treated worse than white citizens. NSRP and company in the end had no chance.
Finally, why are we not having similar cases in Europe? Because European abortion activists got a law on the books guaranteeing their right to abortion. And yes, they did not allow the fact that 'some european countries like Ireland and Italy are anti-aboriton...trying to get a law passed would be difficult....they got a law passed...guaranteeing their rights. YA think their opponents can challenge such laws in court? Even if the judge was anti-abortion, he has to keep within the law'.
Whether conservative, or liberal...if ye want your rights secured...get a law...preferrably a law passed at the level of constitutional amemdment ....that guarantees your rights NATIONALLY. Democracy in practice is hard work.
That is what the Irish did recently. No waiting for 'ruling by Irish court to guarantee our right'. And I’m telling you it was secured under the right to privacy Is there a law for loving v Virginia ? Not everything becomes law because it secured by previous laws That’s how precedents are set Which all three trump appointed judges said under oath that roe v wade is a secured precedent. I know you are trying to be the rational one that stays in the middle but that doesn’t work here |

Again . The Supreme Court should not be making laws. It should interpret the constitution as written. Lol this is foolish; when it’s clear that there has been an ideological shift Tell me more about modern day is it democrats or republicans that parade the confederate flag ? |

subsidywise18: Yes, that is true, which gets me to my main point.
If someone supports abortion and your state does not support it then get enough support, get enough votes, campaign, convince people and then get a law passed that allows for abortion in your state.
Or get a federal ammendment to the constitution guaranteeing reproductive rights
Don't rely on court rulings. Court rulings can be reversed.
Same goes for the conservatives.
Modified...
If you want your rights guaranteed...then go and get a law passed guaranteeing your rights, NOT a court ruling. Because today's court ruling is tomorrow's reversed ruling...
Once upon a time, the Supreme court ruled it was legal to keep slaves. Now it isn't because the appropriate law was passed making slavery illegal. Lol; roe v wade was seen as a part of a section of the constitution What was the major reason for the civil war ? State rights to own slaves Only if you are saying the civil war was wrong and states should have been allowed to make its own laws ? Loving v Virginia; is federal over reach in your opinion; let’s get it out there and leave it to state All of those numerous land mark cases; leave it to state rights It’s a bullshit argument and a no brainer State rights is a lazy excuse to backward the country We’ve seen it during the era of Jim Crow In some states lynching just became a crime as recently as 10 years How don’t you guys see the retrogressive movement of things like this. thats outsourcing but the company itself is still in the US.
Tesla built a mega factory in Texa, where they will me making tesla cars... its different from what you are saying. Sometimes I see what's going on in the US and realised how the TV series: prison break was trying to tell us there is an elite that runs a lot of things. In that TV series the deepstate is called : the company. “Deep state” They are numerous movies dating back years that have always said there is a group of elites that controlled the affairs of the world by causing havoc in secret It is not real And if by any means it is real; you can’t pretend that people like trump or musk or Bezos won’t be part They are literally by products from defuncts establishment managed by “deep states” So it makes no sense.
