A 45-year-old Victor Emmanuel has been arrested for having sex with a 13-year-old and insisting she’s his is fiancée and he didn’t rape her.

The Commissioner of Police, Haliru Gwandu, who disclosed this to journalists in Benin on Tuesday, added that firearms were recovered from the arrested academics.



Gwandu also said that among those arrested was a professor, from whom a double-barrel gun, single-barrel gun and one pump action gun were allegedly recovered.’

The police commissioner said, “The professor was arrested. He was granted bail. The case is under investigation.”

Gwandu’s statement came less than a week after the command refuted reports that its operatives allegedly brutalized the Dean of the Faculty of Law of the university, Prof. Sunday Edeko.

The commissioner expressed displeasure over the high rate of cultism around the institution located in Esan West Local Government Area, which he said had claimed many lives.

He said there had been distress calls from members of the university community that cult groups were unleashing mayhem in the area.

“It was a distress call from the community; the university community made a call that cult groups were killing and they killed so many.

“And at the time when they (policemen) went to inspect a site, they discovered more than 14 beheaded students at that particular time,” he said.

He, however, vowed that the police would ensure that the leaders and members of cult groups in the area were arrested and charged to court.

This deadly disease already found its way in the northern part of Nigeria, and news reaching the public is that, it’s gotten to the west , precisely Lagos state , but The Lagos state government has denied reports that two persons were recently killed by the epidemic Cerebro Spinal Meningitis disease that has claimed over 400 lives. The Nigeria Centre for Diseases Control (NCDC) on Friday released a statement claiming that three residents of the state had contacted the disease and that two of such persons have died from complications from the disease

The Lagos state Ministry of Health has however refuted this claim, stating that there is no truth to it. In a statement released by the Ministry’s director, public affairs, Adeola Salako, the state Commissioner of Health, Jide Idris says the report was false and capable of causing undue panic. According to Idris, the cases of Meningitis recorded in the state are the non-epidemic ones which is different from the strain of the disease that has killed over 400 persons in some state
