Lol. If this report was meant to be a PR stunt or testing of the murky political waters a second time by GEJ’s supporters, they did a rather poor job of it.

The underlying message in this report is that fPGEJ can be controlled (PBAT, who they thought they would “own” isn’t kowtowing to the North) by the northern political elite; a GEJ government benefits the north (a PBAT admin doesn’t benefit the north especially, contrary to their expectations), the same northerners who were there, quiet & uninterested in getting fPMB to sustain the Almajiri schools built by GEJ in the north, don’t want to own up to their own systemic failures but are looking for a “cleaner” in GEJ to help them clean the mess they created! Finally, what this report didn’t say but is very obvious is that the northern elite while preferring power to supposedly remain in the South for another 4yrs after PBAT’s first term, they’re more comfortable with it shifting to the South-south rather than the Southeastern part: question is why? In other words, the northern elite cannot trust an Igbo man with power! If not, instead of going back to the stone (GEJ) they rejected if they’re truly dissatisfied with a PBAT government, they would’ve built consensus around someone like PO who against all odds, came 3rd in a hotly contested election despite contesting on the platform of a political party without “structure” & without the support of power brokers.

1. End Atiku’s presidential bid finally

The coronation of Obi Azinge is expected to take place in no distant time, following his overall success in the race for the referred stool of Asagba of Asaba, which reportedly featured nine other illustrious titled sons of Asaba.


The Asagba-in-Council, which announced the selection of the international legal luminary on Sunday in Asaba, stated that Prof Azinge emerged as the most qualified among the ten contenders in the race for the royal stool.

The contenders hail from Ugbomanta Quarters, whose turn it is, of the five quarters (ebos) of Asaba Kingdom, to produce the next Asagba, who will succeed Obi (Prof) Chike Joseph Edozien, the 13th Asagba of Asaba who had joined his ancestors earlier in the year.


The Ochendo Ahaba (Regent) Dr. Anthony Edozien, announced the result of the selection process in line with the Traditional Rulers and Chiefs Edict of 1979, applicable to Delta State, at the former Palace of the Asagba of Asaba at Ezenei Quarters in Asaba, the Delta State capital.

There was jubilation with praise songs and dances at the Asaba residence of Prof Azinge, following the official announcement on Sunday.

The Asagba-designate had recently taken the Obiship (red cap chieftaincy) title as one of the leading contestants to the throne.

The Obi title (red cap) which is the highest traditional social rank amongst the Ahaba people, that is, Obi institution; but Azinge has also been one of high-ranking traditional chiefs in the Asagba’s cabinet with the title of ‘Okilolo Ahaba’.

The Asagba-in-waiting began rigorous journey on the 5th of August, 2024 with the stage-by-stage steps in line with the tradition and customs of the Ahaba (Asaba) people, concluding with the procession to the Udo sacred ‘ekpele”, secluded traditional ground where the indigenous anklet adorning, known as “eli li ukwu”, took place.
