Lagos - Badagary Expressway

Governor Babatunde Fashola of Lagos state has warned the Federal Government to stay away from the Lagos-Badagry Expressway reconstruction after the central government indicates interest to take over the construction of the road.

The Minister of Works, Mike Onolememen recently announced that the Federal Government has concluded plans to take over the construction of the expressway from the Lagos State Government.

Reacting to the development on Sunday at his 2,700 Days in office held at the Lagos Television Ground, Ikeja, Lagos, Southwest Nigeria, Fashola warned that the Federal Government would have the Lagos State Government to contend with if it actually wanted to take over the road from it.

He said he wanted to believe that the minister did not say anything like that, saying that he had not read the story in the newspaper neither has he had it.

“The statement credited to the Minister for Works, honestly I don’t know. I haven’t heard it. I haven’t read it. I think it will be wise to hear what he has to say about the matter.

“I think it will be a very unfortunate journey to even contemplate that kind of idea. They will have us to deal it, should that be the case and I don’t think that anybody who is sensible want will want to stand in the way of development.

“What will the objective be to do that when you are not providing the money and not providing the design? We are doing the road so that our state can move forward. I don’t want to believe that he made that statement; I think we will leave it there,” he said.

On the deadly Ebola Virus Disease, EVD, the governor said his administration braved the odd to curtail the spread of the disease, saying it would have been calamitous if the disease had reached a stage of epidemic in Lagos.

“But in the spirit of Lagos, we know that our work is not finished. The lessons of hygiene must remain with us, regular hand washing with soap and water, stopping the practice of public urination and open defecation must continue,” he said.

The governor appealed to the Federal Government to maintain the highest vigilance at the nation’s land, air and sea borders as well, stressing that maintaining close scrutiny of persons from countries and regions where Ebola remains a challenge must be the nation’s first line of defence.

“Importantly, we must send help to these countries if we truly want to keep the gains we have recorded. Our work on Ebola continues because we must do everything to avoid a re-infection. We have put many policies in place which the Commissioner for Health will be communicating to you.

“Some of the lessons learnt are the need for a Government Scientific Adviser to be our co-ordinator not only for providing scientific information about infectious diseases but also co-ordinating other areas of science based research, food sufficiency, water sufficiency, air pollution and all other things that are likely to affect our well-being,” he stated.

Fashola, however, announced the appointment of Dr. Adekemi Sekoni as his Chief Scientific Adviser.

buhari is a sad loser.
he did coup in Enugu July 1966.
Ajukwu caught him and tied him up like a pig.
that is why he is talking of dog and baboon.
It was Gowon that saved him.

buhari did another coup in 1983
but in 1985, babangida captured him and put him in guarda.
I visited him in Daura in 1992.
It was a pitiful sight.
it was Abacha who saved him.

He can never ever ever win Nigerian presidential erections.
if he like let him borrow all the money in Islamic bank.
nothing for him.

The main reason we voted for GEJ in 2011 presidential elections in the SW was that, we were sympatheric towards him, and we fell for his 'i dnt av a shoe' story,
Do not make yourself seem stupid!
This is not the reason the man in the street in Abeokuta voted for President Jonathan.
Infacti, in 2015, President Jonathan will get twice the number of votes he got from the SW in 2011.

We, PDP, is going to do operation "KKB". You heard it from me.

PoliticsRe: Obasanjo Is Morally Bankrupt – Kashamu by tit(f): 9:41pm On Oct 17, 2014
Obasanjo is a CIa agent.
that is why he can go and come america anyhow.
That s how they give him information the atiku and jefferson put money in the fridge.
but when obasanjo and andy uba carry their own dollars, them catch them, then release them.
Obasanjo is a CIa agent.
that is why he can sit in Otta and run boko haram in sambissa forest.
some of you say that america is sponsoring boko haram?
their hand in the matter is no more than Olusegen Kikileomo mattew ...
that is why he say the chibok girls are not coming back.
he is the maga sponsor of ibrahim shekau!

Now Chad and Alex Badeh say the Chibok girls are coming home
while Obasanjo say the Chibok girls all get belle and are not coming back!
Who do you beleive?

patrickmuf:
In 2011, Buhari didn't get the vote he required from the SW not because he's not loved but because he didn't align with the powers that be (Tinubu) fast forward to 2015 and you'll see Tinubu and Buhari in the same fold...
For those of you against a Muslim/Muslim ticket, is it performers or religious sentiments that governs your stance? I honestly think you guys dread Fashola for VP so y'all go on and on about the religion crap...
Question is; If GMB picks a xtian as his running, will it lead to corresponding increase in vote? I think no...
This shows the appeal of the Jonathan presidency.
While APC is appealing to primordial instincts of ethnicity and religion,
hoping on moslim Fulani and Yoruba votes,
PDP has warm reception outside the origins of their presidential nad vice presidential candidates.
Jonthan/Sambo receive rousing receptions in the SW, NC, SE, NE and NW.
Buhari/Tinubu can only campaign in enclaves outside Daura and Oshogbo (their ancestral homes).
They do not have popular appeal across the length and breadth of Nigeria.
