Hello All, Please Im new to this forum and I need suggestions on a particular situation bothering me. My husband and I just got PPR request for passport for visa issuance from the Canadian Embassy, after a very long wait . We had taken our minds off it n assumed it was refused without communication . At the moment, I am in the US for childbirth . Due to return to Nigeria mid June. We have been given 30days to respond with our police certificate from the UK and also to send our passports for the visas. My own take on it is for my husband to go ahead to process his since he is the primary applicant and inform the embassy that I am not in the country and will send mine when I get back. Another suggestion we got was to notarise a photocopy of my passport and keep for my use here in the US while I send my original to the Canadian Embassy In Accra or to my husband. I am not comfortable with these options because I dont want to get stranded here waiting for my passport when its time to return to Nigeria. Also I need to process the baby documents and its not certain that I will be allowed to notarise as a non-resident of the US. Considering the timeline we have been given, How can we ensure this application is not cancelled. Please anyone who has a suggestion on how best to handle this. |

LadyGuinivere:Haha. Abi now. I can bet she mentioned I'm being dishonest at least 15times in total. I was almost certain she wanted to send me back to Nigeria. |
ozycy:Lwkm... She may be the same person cos I'm not sure others had same experience.... She practically forced me to accept o. Didn't even know where the confidence came from. Thanks a lot for the message. |
Hello house. Flew with Emirates from Abuja 1st April and landed Houston on 2nd April at 3:45pm. Straight to my POE story in summary CBP: Took fingerprints and asks where r u going today? Me: Houston, have a booking with intown suites, Highway 6 CBP: why r u here? Me: To have my baby CBP: oooouuhhhhh really? (Not sure he noticed I'm pregnant n I travelled at 35wks+ Me: yea (with a smile) Cbp: when is ur EDD Me: told him CBP:what do u do? Me:told him CBP: How long r u staying Me :2months 2weeks CBP: How much cash do u have on u Me : 2553 CBP:Are you married Me: yes CBP: what does your husband do Me: Told him CBP: alright pls stay at the corner. Someone will come for you, they need to run further checks. Was taken to secondary inspection. Sat there waiting for about 4hours before I got called for another interview. Cbp: Madam, sit down Me: good evening CbP: How long do u intend to stay. When is ur return scheduled for Me: 2months 2weeks. Cbp: where will you be staying Me: Intown suites Cbp: have u made any payments Me: Not yet. They don't accept payment inadvance CBP: that's not true. You can pay with ur credit card Me: I did not have that option. Have my booking as proof CBP: of course they do accept payments so if u wanted to pay u would have Me: . Maybe because I was booking from an other country but I wasn't given that option n o also called to confirm n wasn't allowed to make payment Cbp: kept insistingthat they take payments. Was quiet n watched as she went on n on. Cbp: how much do u have on you Me: 2553 Cbp: How do u intend to pay ur bills me: I have my cards Cbp: well I've got cards as well but they all v zero balance. How much do u v on ur card Me: 4k and v got cheques valued at 5k C bp:How come u v US bank cheques Me: currently there is scarcity of d dollar currency in Nigeria so i traded woth someone who had a US bank account Cbp: when did this happen Me: 2days ago Cbp: u sure its ur money Me: Yes I am sure it is Cbp: well that is Still 11500, at ur visa interview u said it will cost u 15k to have ur baby here Me: yes my husband will be coming as well and he will bring some cash C bp: when will he be coming Me: gave her an estimated arrival date Cbp: how much does he have available to him Me: 4k Cbp: Oh so ur spending ur whole life savings on this trip Me: Not at all I'm on maternity leave and ill be earning salary while m here. My husband will be earning hos salary as well CBP: why do u want to give birth in the US Me : this is my first and I want access to a different and better health care Cbp: its not like u have previous experience In terms of health care how do u then compare Me: I do Cbp: in which country Me: Nigeria Cbp: what's it like and what symptoms me: its alright but obviously Nigeria is developing US is developed . Other symptoms Cbp: like? Me: headache. Malaria. N all (Didn't see all these coming. Didn't know what to say Cbp: I put it to u that if ur child would not be a US citizen. U won't be here in the first place. U r here for the passport not health care. Right? Me: getting a passport for the child is am added perk and a good one CBP: and that's the major reason ur here Me:like I said its a good one but my main reason is for better health care and the citizenship is one of the perks C BP: Started raising her voice.. you are not being honest and you r not a straight forward person. Do u know how many women I interview from Nigeria on a daily basis Me: I wouldn't know I have no idea C Bp: At least 20 of them n they r honest that they r here for the passport.. Me: well everyone has their reasons. For me its access to better health care system andsince I had the opportunity. I'm making use of that. Cbp: what r u saying (woth so much disdain) so others don't v the opportunity me: its an opportunity. Some don't, others do. C bp: you r lying u r not being honest. At least they r honest Me: How have I lied n how have I been dishonest. I just said having the passport is an added perk n a good one. CBP: I am goimg to ask again. Why R u here to have ur b ab y. Why US Me: because I want access to better health care CBp: *went on and on about how "dishonesty" is my middle name*. Was tired of the back n forth but i insistedon my initial response cos that's my true intention so saying something else wasn't an option. Just kept quiet n kept smiling looking a her as she typed and kept saying "at least they r honest and u r not... repeated more than 10 times she then held on to my passport n says "go outside n sit down " After 10mins she came out n handed my passport over and didn't give further directives. Took it n went to another officer who looked through n said I could go. Saw that she had written "cleared" on the landing card. N also she had stamped me In till October. No be small thing. It was really tough. Houston POE is tough.. Just be coherent and consistent. |
LadyGuinivere:While I understand your point.. I do not think it is proper to post your salary... Of what use is it stating how much you earn on a public forum. Let me remind you that our ids r not as private as u think. A lot of people have personal relationships outside of here or tend to build a relationship at some point. Well.... I feel if anyone wants further details; you can discuss with them on a more personal note.. outside of here. It may be alrght to state how much u saved up to show as proof on your bank statement (which could serve as a guide ) but stating specific details on ur means of livelihood? No For me, I don't want anyone to disclose such details to me neither do I expect to see it. Besides, I'm yet to see any post that specifies individual income from the part 1 to 3.. maybe its an oversight but v just not come across it. This is just my own perspective. Thanks |
danowena:Hello... Thank you so much! |
Hello House, Good evening. Thanks to everyone who has contributed in one way or the other here, May God bless you all. My husband and I had our interview today in Abuja, It was initially scheduled to hold on Monday, 29th but out of curiosity, i logged on to my account and rescheduled to today, 27th. Obviously, its more convenient to have it done on a weekend anyway. It was indeed very smooth. God really favoured us.It didnt last more than 3-5minutes. Alright, here we go. DH: Good afternoon VO: Good afternoon, how are you Me: Good afternoon (VO kept flipping through our current passports and checking all the pages and also looking through her system before the interview started) VO: What are you going to do in Texas DH: Vacation for me and my wife will be having our baby and I would love to witness the delivery. This is our first child. VO: Okay, thank you. What do y'all do for xxxxxxxxxxxxxx(Name of the company) DH: I'm xxxxxx (Started saying a whole lot about his job and strategy formulation, alignment,etc..with so much confidence)..I almost tapped him to signal to let him know its enough, let her ask the next question. But thank God he concluded just in time and impressively. Me: I work as xxxx on xxxx project VO: How much do you earn DH: I earn xxxxx annually asides other allowances and performance bonus Me: I earn xxxxx monthly VO: When was the last time you both travelled together on vacation DH: June 2015, Me: July last year. DH: It was June, then i remembered n quickly said, Im sorry it was June, to the UK VO: To me- You were denied visa to Spain last year, what was the reason DH: She was denied but the reason wasnt stated, and I had my own visa already but it was too late to reapply as we had booked our tickets to England. VO: Theres always a reason for refusal, they always specify, please just tell me DH: To me- What was the reason again? Me: It had to do with my insurance booking DH: Oh yes it was the insurance, it was booked but the officer didnt see it and had to reject the application, then again, it was late to reapply, so we visited only England. VO: Do you know how much its going to cost you to give birth in the US Me: About $15000 in total...Made an attempt to slip my hands in the file to bring out the budget sheet from the folder VO: I dont need anything from you. VO keeps typing for about 1 to 2mins and then she handed the white paper and said 'your visas have been approved'. Please do make sure you pay all your bills and keep the receipts. And do not seek public aid. If you get asked, simply reject it, otherwise it affects your chances in the future......Cant really remember all she said, but thats the summary. She also said something about the bills being about 10-15k dollars. I also noticed that almost every woman the VO interviewed before me was asked- 'Are you pregnant' R u sure? Apart from the fact that no single document was requested, we were not asked any question about accomodation, Doctor's correspondences, hospital, the intended travel plans, how long we intend to stay and the regular questions. And we had everything in place but like I said earlier, we were favoured and it was really smooth. DH really made the whole process easy for me by answering the few questions confidently and with specific details Above all, Im grateful to God and everyone here who has been generous enough to share useful information. Have a good evening! |
cindermum:Thanks a lot for the response...I appreciate .. |

[quote author=omodadi post=42121293]Hello dear, Dr E can give you a letter of acceptance but not apointment, they don't collect any fee before you get there. All you need do is to continue to call her office, relax and explain your situation and you will be guided. I got same from them few weeks back. Thank you so much for the response. I will do just that. Does the acceptance letter alone suffice? I just went through your previous posts and realised you are also due in May. Do you have accommodation arrangement yet? I'm following you now but don't know how to send pm.. it's not working. It will be good to talk further. Wouldn't want to clog this thread with personal messages on the trip. I'm also looking at travelling in April by Gods grace. |
Dear All, Good morning. I have been following this post since 2013, that was before I even got married. Just stumbled on it one day n got stuck since then. Though it appears a lot has changed with the doctors and commitment from patients Anyway, based on all ive been reading I have decided to narrow my choices down to Texas and to this end I have contacted the following 1. Dr esparati 2. Dr Ezekiel 3. Dr Amaro 4. Dr Jeannie West Houston. For Elpaso, their response is quite fast n i have been guided on what I need to do to get the appointment and doctors letter as proof to the embassy. However I'm a bit skeptical cos I read that people have issues with getting visas.. agency n stuff.. so I'm considering other choices. I also have To pay some commitment to get letters for visa application procedure With Dr Ezekiel, I was sent a generic email with the costs n all but I've been asking them to send me a doctor's letter and appointment booking. They r not giving any feedback.... please can some on help me? Does Dr Ezekiel not give correspondence for embassy anymore? With Dr Amaro... same fee back with details of doctor but they said i have to contact hospital separately and anaesthetic specialist sepArately as well and I have to pay at least 2000 dollars for me to get any letter n appointment confirmation for visa application... please is there any other doctor in Texas that can accept me n give me the letters u need without paying fees In Dr Jeannies case.... they attached 2 documents containing their pricing. It has everything.. from doctor to hospital to pediatrics and n every billing you can think of... very detailed. However to get a n appointment. I need to submit my medical records n to get a letter Ihave to pay a small fee as commitment My issue is getting medical report from my hospital will take a long time and I was looking at applying end of January cos I'm due first week in May. I don't have time again.. cos I'm yet to apply for visa. Preferably Texas or Maryland Can someone please help me urgently Is there a doctor n hospital that can provide me with appointment and doctors letter without having to pay a fee or present medical records forehand? Also, please how do I go about getting Dr Ezekiel to give me the letters, if he does. Please I've done due diligence. Always on this page but I have now gotten stuck. Thanks and I apprecoate as you as you help a sister out . |
I am highly disappointed by some supposed medical people saying nonsense in the name of making a point... this is why the health system in Nigeria has declined drastically.... Did you all read the post. The husband said he didn't take her to a private hospital because she did her antenatal in the hospital he drove her too... N someone here saying they didn't have her medical history.. Really?? Who else will have her medical history if not them.... you must have been blind when reading. Secondly do they tell them during their prenatal visits that they have limits to the deliveries they take and advised them to have a private hospital as alternative. If this happened to your family members, many of you won't be here spilling trash.... every one involved in the death of this woman must never go Scott free. Coming from someone who is also pregnant... I can only say may God have mercy on you all justifying a serious issue as this... RIP to the deceased. May God grant the family fortitude to hear the loss.. May God comfort that man that watched his wife n chold die I detest the way some of you are giving excuses for the nurses n doctors.. Was she told before her EDD that they are not competent enough to take her delivery? Or better still was she referred to another hospital forehand |
