Computers / New Virus Called Locky Ramsomware by tlinks(m): 5:30pm On Feb 22, 2016
Hello Nairalanders.

There is a new internet threat spreading like wildfire called "Locky" Its a ransomware which comes as an attachment with .doc as extension.
Once you click to open the attached file it will prompt you to enable macros in your MS Word which then execute some files and remotely connect to the remote hackers server by encrypting all your files and changes the extension of files including windows files to .locky. If you are in a domain network it will affect the entire network by encrypting all the shared files on you network including removable medias.

You wont be able to restore your system, the only option left is to pay the ransom via Bitcoins approximately $17,000 USD or more it depends on the attacker or if you are lucky to have a recent backup you can format your PC and reinstall windows.

For more information you can google it and learn more about it.

Included is the copy of the ransomware i received last Friday. No antivirus can remove the threat but if your antivirus is up to date it can detect and stop the infection.

Politics / Re: Govt Should Pay For Sim Card Registration? by tlinks(m): 4:50pm On Aug 03, 2010
good
museog:

Sim registration is easiest done by the phone operators. Logistics is not an issue as all of them have distributors and distribution points across the country. This is how their sim cards and scratch card are able to penetrate the most remote villages in Nigeria

Also, the equipment required is the least of the issues. Some of the phone companies have already designed equipment that will capture picture, finger print and other information of the users. They are already distributing this to some of their dealers who for a reward are willing to carry out the task

The N6bn that some people are asking for is pure fraud. Unless you are a phone operator, there is no way you can use N6bn to register over 70million phone users scattered across a vast country like Nigeria. You will need at least N15bn and that is assuming that the cost is not inflated.
The national ID card project that they implemented with several billions came to nothing because it was poorly funded and the main intention was not creating a national ID system. This was simply a by product and that is why most people either don't have a national ID or those that have don't take it serious.

What the National assembly should do is to create legislations to support the phone companies on the registration exercise. BTW, in case you don't know, some of the operators are very comfortable running the exercise. The NCC and other govt agencies can support by creating a central database where all the registered info can be stored and retrieved centrally if required but then this introduces other issues of who keeps and manages that data and how do we ensure the data is not used for malicious purposes eg election rigging. What about privacy issues? These are the debates that the national assembly should be engaging in

gd point their "museog" goverment do reason like a fool and they believe every1 were as foolish as dem be. I wonder wat good they can provide d masses .useless idiot
Computers / Re: My Laptop Can't Boot Again. by tlinks(m): 1:40pm On Aug 03, 2010
@Movincoil, remove the ram and insert it back , dont forget if u have 2 pairs of ram 256x2, u will locate one at the bottom while the second ram is hidden at the back of the keyboard so you have to unscrew the keyboard to get to the second ram. If its a single 512 Mb no wahala all u just need to do is eject and insert both then try 2 reboot.

Family / Re: Is It Right To Be A Second Wife? by tlinks(m): 12:44pm On Dec 23, 2008
Being a second wife is not a bad idea,
but many women and few men will not welcome this idea.
not all second wifey are bad. A lady without a captivating manner is useless, be it first or 2nd
Options for 2nd wifey are planned while some are unexpected,
For men having extra marital affairs, the man might end up impregnating the lady
and she might not want any abortion of a kind,
so therefore the man is left with no option than to take her to the altar or whatsoever

Women should know that its a favour that a man is doing to a them and their family,
cos a man is taking one responsibility off their neck.

Can anyone quote the bible where it is stated clearly that men should marry one wife, even in the quran, i know many of you would argue on this with your own reasoning.
God that make a provision for a man and a wife with their kids will surely make extra provisions with the inclusion of a 2nd wife and her children.

Lets look at the population of women in d world, we would find out that the numbers of female child in every community is more than the male child, and we say one woman to a man, there would be many who would be left out with no man to hold, wont these accept to be a 2nd wifey? In every relationship women try harder than men to be faithful to their spouse, while men cheat as if theres no tomorrow, in boyfriend and gf issues men cheat more than women, if this man or boy eventually marry someone he desired what happen to the other ladies? Wont they mind being the second wife to him or to someone else,***some of you would say "God forbid", listen to the inner you, most of you will*** but many women will not take this, there is coming a time when many men will marry more than one wife becos non of you ladies would like to be single for the rest of your life

Jokes Etc / Dont Ask What Might Cause U Trouble. by tlinks(m): 12:03pm On Dec 18, 2006
coolLawyers should never ask a Mississippi grandma a question if they
aren't prepared for the answer.

In a trial, a Southern small-town prosecuting
attorney called his first witness, a grandmotherly, elderly woman to
the stand.

He approached her and asked, "Mrs. Jones, do you know me?" She
responded,
"Why, yes, I do know you, Mr. Williams. I've known you since you were a
young boy, and frankly, you've been a big disappointment to me. You
lie, you cheat on your wife, and you manipulate people and talk about them
behind their backs. You think you're a big shot when you haven't the
brains to realize you never will amount to anything more than a two-bit paper
pusher. Yes, I know you."

The lawyer was stunned ! Not knowing what else to do, he pointed across
the room and asked, "Mrs. Jones, do you know the defense attorney?" She
again replied, "Why, yes, I do. I've known Mr. Bradley since he was a
youngster, too. He's lazy, bigoted, and he has a drinking problem. He can't build
a normal relationship with anyone and his law practice is one of the
worst in the entire state. Not to mention he cheated on his wife with three
different women. One of them was your wife. Yes, I know him." The defense attorney almost died.

The judge asked both counselors to approach the bench and, in a very
quiet voice, said, "If either of you idiots asks her if she knows me, I'll
send you to the electric chair."
