Why should someone be offended by facts, there is nothing to have offended any south American player there, because what Mbappe said was the truth and he said it in the modest of way. None of the south American players have refuted that claim or acted angrily to it,you are just the one looking for what's not. South americans players are the ones vying to play in Europe and not vice versa and that automatically makes their league less competitive than Europe. South American countries consider players playing outside their league in their national teams before those playing in the league or else the Brazilian and Argentine teams will be filled with players from Gremio, international and River plate respectively. That is another prove that they themselves consider the European league more superior than their local leagues.

Do the players in Argentina and Brazil national squad play in their local leagues?

I don't like discussing nonsense with ignorant people

You have already shown enough ignorance for one day

Czech Republic reached the final in 1962

Soviet Union knocked out England in Group stage in 1958, beating them 2-0, why didn't you mention that. They were Olympic Champions and Euro Champions. So you have Brazil, England, Soviet Union and Austria in the group.

All you need to know is these were the top 16 teams that came through qualifying. If anybody is better than them, they would have qualified ahead of them. They are nothing like Iran, Bosnia and Nigeria.

We will not go into history lesson to satisfy your ignorance.

Alright I don hear you.

It's 6 games in Pele time Vs 7 games now

The only missing link is 2nd round

All 6 games are tough because you are playing the top 16 qualifiers in the World and can easily get knocked out in group stage

You don't have an argument. Imagine Brazil, Holland, France and Mexico in the same group, that's the equivalent of what used to happen in Pele days, every group is group of death

You are capping nonsense. Check out these groups in 1966 World Cup.

Imagine Messi have to play France and Holland this World Cup after losing to Saudi instead of Poland and Mexico, tell me how he will smell 2nd round

In 1958, Brazil had to face Soviet Union and Austria in the group stage.

In 1962, Czech Republic and Mexico

In 1970, Romania and Czech Republic.

How are these countries different from the modern day Poland, Iran, Mexico, Bosinia and co?

Abeg abeg cheesy

Nonsense. It just means players can statpad against weaker opponents in group stage and 2nd round

As it stands, the only top tier teams Messi has scored open play goals against in 5 World Cups are Holland and France

Rest of his records are against useless teams like Bosnia, Iran, Nigeria that won't qualify for World Cup in Peles time

It's bot about start stat padding. It about the number of times the best teams will have to play which makes it harder.

For example, there'll be 48 teams in the next World cup. If Argentina still goes on to win the competition, it means they'll play more matches plus even having to face the best teams later on in the KO stage before getting to the final.

Now compare this with what happened in 1958, 62 and 70 where Brazil didn't have to play many matches to reach the final.

They're not the same at all.

Increasing number of game play open more chances of getting eliminated easily. See it from this angle too.

Exactly.

The number of participating teams will still get reduced to 16 after weaker teams get knocked out leaving the best teams in the competition.

They play Group stage, then straight to QF

No 2nd round

Of course the less teams in a World Cup, the stiffer the opposition

Or you mean to tell me it will be more difficult to perform when FIFA expand to 48 teams and start giving people like New Zealand automatic entry from Australasia, probably 7 teams from Africa and Asia, reducing the quality of opponents

It'll be more difficult because best teams will still get to play against each other later on when smaller teams get eliminated.

You must be high on cow dung

Having less teams means the competition is stiffer and shyt teams like Iran, Bosnia, Nigeria, Poland that Messi used to statpad get filtered out in the qualifiers

Having 16 teams means they didn't habe to play group stage.

Na competition be that?

The first time the 32 team format was introduced was in 98 WC. Are you saying WC before then was less competitive?

And by the way, PELE had more goals in less matches than Messi, and I am not arguing who is goat or not.

Not necessarily but give maximum respect to a player who led his team to 2 WC finals during the 32 team format era, won a world cup plus 2 MVPs.

GOAT doings.

What does 16 teams or 24 teams or 32 teams change?

How does the number of teams change the fact that South American were superior to their european counterparts at that specific period?

It's significant because it shows how less the competition was compared to now.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) / Re: Official Chelsea Fan Thread: Champions Of Europe 2021 by TLona1: 11:16am On Dec 21, 2022
I don't understand why people hype 1958 and 1962 World Cup. These competitions had just 16 participating countries.

It's as good as saying they didn't play the group stage and had to start from RO 16.

Na competition be that? Abeg Messi >>>>>>> Pele.

It's amazing after losing 3 consecutive finals and facing lots of criticisms, Messi led his team to win 3 consecutive finals afterwards which were against South American Champions , European Champions and the World Champions.

Greatness in HD.
