Proposal on 5 acres of plantain plantation

After you have secure your good loamy soil. You need to clear the land. This can be done by manual mean or by use of tractor. But the best way is manual this may cost you N60k depend on your location (Any example am given, is from Lagos)

Then you ORDER for your Hybrid Plantain suckers . On one acre, you need approximately 900-100 suckers. If make use of 6×8 ft as your planting dimensions. You will need 150 suckers on a plot of 60×120 ft. Then multiply it by 6, that it is 900 suckers that you need on one Acre.

On 5 acres you get 900×5 =4500 on 5 acres we need 4500 suckers

Each suckers sold for #100 (Negotiable)
4500×100= #450,000 that is cost of sucker

Cost of transport is depend on distance of your farm from our farm and quantity you bought . Within Lagos and ogun state you should prepared for #40,000

Then you arrange for labourer who can plant for you. You pay then base on your area.

Clearing of weed, after 2-3 months after planting you be prepared for weed clearing .This can be done in two ways: use of chemical or manual weeding method. The best is manual in case u don't see who can apply chemical perfectly. Because it must not touch the crop. You can contact near shop where they are selling agro allied chemicals , the last time I bought paraforce is #1700 per bottle due to economy crisis I can't predict how much you can spend on chemical.

But manual method is very good but costly. Aboki charge10k per acre.

This will repeat twice before your crop got to mature stage. When it form canopy then you spend less on weed clearing.

At end of the 1st harvest you make harvest all the plantain u plant but they may not ready for harvest at the time.

The cost are very depend on sizes.
If your market is Lagos , you sell your suckers between #800-#1500 as farmer to market woman .and you collect your money cash.
