PropertiesLaspppa To Grant Provisional Approval For Property Development by tmd1(op): 3:56pm On Apr 15, 2018
As part of measures to address the challenges in the Planning Permit Application Process and for ease of doing business in the State, Lagos State Physical Planning Permit Authority (LASPPPA) has initiated the procedure of granting Provisional Approval to developers for processing of title documents towards the commencement of physical property development.

Speaking at the Agency’s Office, Old Secretariat, Oba Akinjobi Way, Ikeja on Tuesday, the Acting General Manager, Tpl. Funmi Osifuye disclosed that the Governor of Lagos State, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode had approved that a Provisional Approval can be granted towards commencement of physical development.

He added that the Provisional Approval would only be given to commence construction/development and not a substitute for the Planning Permit.

According to Osifuye, the provisional approval cannot be utilized to obtain a Demolition Permit, Re-Stamping and Renovation Permit but could only be used when the conditions for the grant of Planning Permit such as Title Registration, Conferment of title, Evidence for payment of compensation and Collateral for loan or credit facility from financial institutions have been met.

Tpl. Osifuye, however, stated that granting of final Approval would depend on submission of requisite title documents within 18 months after obtaining Provisional Approval.

While enjoining officers of the Authority to commence implementation, he urged Lagosians particularly intending and existing builders to embrace the new procedure as approved by the Governor in order to ensure all builders get approval before commencement of any development, in line with the re-modeling and re-development of new Lagos as one of the Smart Cities in the world.
