Boss, what’s your best price to clear a 2006 Toyota Hiace panel van? It’s coming from the UK and ready to ship.

Also, how much will clear a
2002 Mercedes ML320
2011 Honda Accord EX RHD

If you don’t mind, you can leave your number too

Thanks.

Welcome my friend, the land we met here is a combination of soft clay and unsteady loamy soil, not very suitable for bearing the kind of load designed in this house. True there is a presence of some strong stones and some of the ground is firm enough, we still could not rule out the incidence of differential settlement through the seasons, which will crack up the foundation if we do the normal strip and pad foundation as generally done in this state.

What we have done is not a type of raft foundation, but a pad foundation design aimed at reducing the probability of differential settlement. First we expanded the pads from what the structural drawings recommended. We made sure to use pads of 1.2 meters at least in all the points, then we increased the depth of the pads from 225mm to 450mm. This was done to provide a wider, thicker pad and we even introduced more pads where needed.

Then we introduced rectangular columns with 6 Y16 rods in selected points of substantial load. We topped this with ground beams, then a middle beam and will still ring the top of the foundation with another beam.

The land itself is sloped to the back, and to the left. So we are trying to balance the floor level by raising the back left hand side of the building. There will be a German floor on the foundation.

As for Lekki lands, there might be a need for a full site inspection, possibly a soil test before a foundation type will be recommended.

Thank you.

Thanks a lot Boss for taking your time to give this in-depth explanation. It is much appreciated. we'll follow your lead. Thanks again.

Most of my men are here in this site, more to join soon.

Boss, I have some questions for you if you don't mind.

I noticed the ground beam on the foundation, and the middle beam, and I don't know if there will be another to cap it.
You also mentioned earlier that the soil is notoriously weak.

1. So is this some kind of a raft foundation?

2. and will there be a German floor on this foundation? it looks very high already.

3.also, will this foundation be suitable for a dry but sandy Lekki land (Ibeju Lekki) to be precise)?

I attached a picture of the land.

Thanks for all your educative posts Big Boss, and that fence work is immaculate, also the foundation looks so neat and highly professional.

Health / Re: Marriage And The Sickle Cell Genotype Issue by TobAddy(m): 11:15am On Jun 06, 2007
@Imani

Tanx Imani for the info, u r totally right, I got to knw about the fact new technology advancement means a couple can decide to terminate a pregnancy earlier if the baby is an SS carrier.

@Seun
Ur comments portray you as one of those living in the past. You don't just jump at conclusions like that, u put urself in their position first.

If two AS carriers marry each other, only one child of four will be SS, one shld be AA n the others two AS.Based on this, it is not totally wrong for two AS carriers not to carry one with their marriage. Though, I wld not give my total backing, but if they r strongly in love, then it's ok as long as they'll be terminating the pregnancy of the SS carrier.

Also, if they are lucky, their first two/three children might not be an SS carrier, if this happens to be the case, they shld stop having children. Afterall, people r allowed only one child in China or so!

@ Abeleon,

Tanx for bringing up such a very important topic that really determines alot in our future in Africa.
Literature / Re: Who Is Your Best Novelist? by TobAddy(m): 4:40pm On Jun 03, 2007
@ Misright

James Hardly Chase is my best novelist, I see myself as intelligent, not just because I'm bright, but because I like to learn alot, read, listen, observation e.t.c, reading James Hardly Chase novels helped me alot in being who I am today, I dnt get fooled easily, my brain is always at alert, thanks James, n may your soul rest in peace.

Most of James' novels where staged in the United states but he didn't live there, he read books about the country n only visited the country to supplement his studying, what a great man!
Politics / Re: Chris Okotie (Fresh Party) For President In 2007? by TobAddy(m): 2:29pm On Mar 16, 2007

God does his things in ways people do not anticipate, (David is a perfect example) (Joseph and Moses is another)

Why not vote for Okotie knowing he is a pastor? We criticize, prosecute, condemn and ignore those that could have saved us from poverty and neglect, Yes like (Seun) said, he is a greenhorn whatever that means (perhaps not experienced) but what has that experience benefited Nigerians? (Obasanjo),  or are we better off now after Obasanjo's rule? it is better to have someone with no experience but good intentions in power than experience with a corrupt mind.

Why vote for Yara' dua knowing he is just working for PDP? (what did he achieve in his state Kastina? who will be his ministers? Obasanjo's choice))) why vote for Buhari knowing his past? ( a former dictator, a religious fanatic? who will be on his cabinet? those who helped him achieve his dream not people with good intentions) Atiku is probably one of the richest in Nigerians now due to curruption, why vote for this same people

I made a grave mistake four years ago, I intended, infact, I was compaigning for Rev. Okotie, but while waiting to vote with just one person in front of me, I remembered what my Dad told me (he said Okotie can't win even though he trusts him and his intelligence, so we should vote Obansanjo in other to prevent Buhari winning because most Northerners will vote him. In other words, voting Okotie is just strenghtening Buhari's chances while Obasanjo's chances becomes thinner even though he is the better of the two) I changed my mind only at the moment I placed my vote, voting for Obasanjo. I regret that moment.

Now, I won't be able to vote because I'm in England. But if we all vote for our conscience, who we know down deep in our minds can help us, then we will be saved. Driving an Hummer does not make him currupt, come to England and see the children of these politicians enjoy their father's wealth, most of them don't even work here in England. Why talk of Okotie's chances when our votes determine who wins? They can't rig an election when an overwhelming majority votes for an opposition candidate.  I'm not a member of his church, neither am I a Pentecostal church member. I am a member of the Celestial Church of Christ, Think! use your vote wisely, we can do it, together,
