It's been a while since I came to this platform. A lot has happened within that time so let's talk about it.

First of all, I landed a job!

So initially, someone referred me to a company where I was interviewed by them and was give a take-home project. Honestly, I wasn't too enthusiastic about doing the project because it was a Nigerian company and we know how many of these companies use devs without paying them all in the name of giving them experience.

Back then I had to learn React to build the project and I was still in the process of learning JavaScript! Long story cut short, I ignored the project and was focused on learning only to learn I could have been paid if I did intern with the company.

Eventually, I reach the stage of depression, I was flat broke and my dad barely take my calls. Well I don't blame him because we're as much as the loud house so he gets billed daily.

I was so broke that I couldn't buy pure water sometimes and had to drink from the compound tank. I was getting fed up of everything but I couldn't give up. I slept in the computer science department most times to save me the cost of going back and forth to my apartment because they always had Light and free WIFI but it was of no use.

I can't recall the exact day of the week it happened but then a collogue reached out to me and someone who needed a frontend dev for his project. I messaged the person but didn't get any response. Well, I didn't have high hopes of getting the job anyways but then I got a response from the client in the evening time.

We hopped on a call where we spoke about the project, the pay and deadline. After that, he suggested another meeting the following day to finalize our agreement before ending the call. That night I couldn't sleep.

I was so excited and grateful to God. I listed out things I would like to buy with the money e.g half bag of rice, beans, cream, slippers and many more. I had no food stuffs and the only old slippers I had, was very old and lifeless.

The following day, we spoke and he shared his screen to show me the dos and don't of the website. After which he sent half payment of the job. Omo when I saw the alert, I unconsciously screamed. I was very very happy.

Part of the money, I sent to my mom and siblings. They were all very happy and grateful.

That client also referred me to his collogue, so more work for me. I was very happy!

I don't intend to settle there tho, my plans is to pitch for jobs after this using the ones I have built. Through a guy's post named David, I realized, I don't have to wait for jobs to come to me. I will message companies with my projects, and skills. Only foreign companies tho

Nothing concern me and Nigerian companies.
Also, I'm currently learning React.

Congratulations πŸ‘πŸΎπŸ‘πŸΎ
Keep growing
