marcjoe: make sure u goto settings - about phone then click on build number 8times to unhide developer options
then go back and enable USB DEBUGGING MODE

Uncle Marcjoe, USB debugging is enabled by default tongue

There's no problem. You have to click on "Turn on Mass Storage" if you want it to show as a removable device on your pc.

Besides, you don't need to turn on mass storage for step 2 to work.

Okay.
Let me number them.
1. Plug your phone to your PC.
2. Install PDA.net. It will install the drivers for your phone. After installation, check the system tray for the icon of PDA.net and exit the program.
3. Run Eroot. When it comes on, you'll see a green "ROOT" button. Click on that. Wait a few seconds, it will start to mark some check boxes. When its done, check your phone for an app called Superuser.
That's the end.

Is there anything that isn't clear?

You don't need anyone to help you. You're good to go. All you'll do is click and watch. You need two programs to root your phone.
PDA.net & Eroot. Should i continue?

I've tried using Pdanet, Framaroot, and srsroot, but non worked on the Tecno & Samsung galaxy pocket...

You need Pda.net & Eroot.
Pda.net's job is to install the drivers for your phone.
Eroot roots it.

1. Plug your phone to your PC.
2. By default, usb debugging is enabled. Check the taskbar to confirm.
3. Install PDA.net
4. After installing pda.net, check the icon tray on windows taskbar and exit the application (pda.net)
5. Run eroot. Stuff will be displayed in chinese and you'll see a greet ROOT button. Click on that and wait. When its done, check your phone to see if superuser has been installed. If yes, your phone has been rooted.

I use Tecno Phantom A+. Runs on 4.2.1

I removed the default contacts application using a desktop client and now I see the pop up "unfortunately the process android.process.acore has stopped" whenever I try to use any application that tries to read my contacts.

Before removing it, I pulled the apk but whenver I try to install it, it just says "application not installed"
I have tried a factory reset but it doesn't bring it back.

From various posts I found on the internet, I need a contacts.odex file so please if anyone can upload/send the contacts.odex & contacts.apk file from their /system/app folder, my problem will be solved

I don't know about checking admission status with JAMB website. I'm doing SWEP now but JAMB still says "Sorry, no admission given".

4peace: No I don't use A+
But download root explorer and install then open it
-Go to root
-Click on mount rw
-Stroll to system folder
-Then app folder
-Place or contact apk and odex file into app folder
-you need to give permission to both files (rw-r-r)
-now install the apk file
-then restart you fone.

You have apk file already
You can check inside system/app
Whether your odex still remain there if lucky.

My phone is rooted. Do you use A+ too? If you do, I need you to please upload contacts.apk and its odex (if any) from your /system/apps folder.

Does anyone know how to re-install system apps? I removed the default contacts application but I used an app, Apk Extractor, to get its apk. When I try to install the apk I get the response "apk not installed".
I have tried a factory reset, it doesn't bring it back.

My phone is a Phantom A+

Coolstan: its normal to get such errors especially when you meddle with certain system apps. Try do a recovery wipe by switching of the phone and then holding the volume up + power key till it boots into recovery menu then do a wipe from there

I tried that before. It doesn't reinstall the app i removed. How far with the stuff you said you would upload to dropbox?

Its a process. "Google Services". Whenever i use any application that tries to read my phone contacts, i get the pop up - "Unfortunately, the process android.process.acore has stopped."

It all started after i removed the default contacts application.

Go to settings > language & input. Click on the settings button beside AOSP keyboard. You'll find everything you're looking for there.

slimlesol: Guys please, i really need help. I bricked my phantom a+ and i need the recovery, boot and system image files. Those of the phantom a1 aren't compatible withe the phantom a+. I don't mind paying. Anyone who can help should pls reply or send me a pvt msg.
