Sports / Top 5 Interesting Champions League Finals by Tochukwu17(m): 9:50am On Jun 01, 2019
#5 Bayern Munich 1-1 Chelsea (3-4 on penalties) - 2012
Played at the Allianz Arena in Munich, it was technically a neutral venue but Chelsea found themselves playing in front of huge swathes of red Bayern support nonetheless.
Bayern dominated proceedings and had a host of chances which they failed to convert, Mario Gomez and Arjen Robben being the prime culprits. They broke through in the end when Thomas Muller headed home in the 83rd minute to send the stadium into raptures.
It looked as if Bayern would negotiate the win, but Didier Drogba with his stellar cup final record had other ideas. He thumped a powerful header past Manuel Neuer and leveled for the Blues, sending the game into extra-time.
In the extra period, Drogba was involved again as he felled Ribery in the box. Petr Cech came to the rescue, saving from Robben's penalty.
Chelsea prevailed in the penalty shootout owing to Cech's brilliance and Drogba fittingly slotted the decisive kick to take Chelsea over the line.

#4 Real Madrid 4-1 Atletico Madrid - 2014
In a Madrid derby, Real was looking for their tenth European crown or 'La Decima' as it was labeled.
Atletico was playing in just their second final and the first one in more than forty years. Atletico had won the league which was an incredible achievement in itself for their limited resources but they were hoping to go one better under coach Diego Simeone.
Diego Godin put Atletico in front in the first half and as the game progressed their hope was turning to reality.
Until that moment. The moment when Sergio Ramos leaped like a graceful gazelle and planted a header past Thibaut Courtois. The clock read 92:48 and the scoreboard 1-1.
Atleti hearts were shattered and their morale drooped. Real bulldozed over their shaken opponents and scored three in extra time courtesy of Gareth Bale, Marcelo, and Cristiano Ronaldo.
La Decima was achieved by decimating their derby rivals in the cruelest way imaginable.

#3 Barcelona 3-1 Manchester United - 2011
This final was a rematch of the one in 2009 when Barcelona had beat United in Rome. Sir Alex Ferguson's side.
United would have wanted to defeat the Catalans at the Wembley Stadium but Pep Guardiola's side had different ideas.
The score was 1-1 at half-time after Wayne Rooney canceled out Pedro's opener but the match as a whole was far from close.
Guardiola's side handed out a passing masterclass as Lionel Messi and David Villa scored to cap off a 3-1 win for their side.
Barcelona's short and incisive passing game proved to be too much for United as Sir Alex admitted after the game.
"Nobody's given us a hiding like that," the United manager said after the final whistle. "In my time as manager, it's the best team I've faced."

#2 Manchester United 1-1 Chelsea (6-5 on penalties) - 2008
The 2008 final in Moscow was an all-English affair between Manchester United and Chelsea and it did not fail to disappoint.
Cristiano Ronaldo who had starred in United's season opened the scoring but Chelsea leveled soon after. Frank Lampard scored an emotional goal in first-half stoppage time which he dedicated to his late father.
The game was an open encounter, with neither side devoid of chances. Magnificently purring on, the all-action contest headed to extra time.
Chelsea struck the woodwork twice and then Didier Drogba managed to get sent off. Ryan Giggs surpassed United all-time appearance record. Michael Essien missed a chance. Carlos Tevez missed a chance. John Terry made a goalline clearance.
Amazingly neither side scored and penalties were needed. Ironically Ronaldo failed to convert his but then Terry slipped and missed his as well. Finally, Edwin van der Sar saved Nicolas Anelka's kick to hand United the title.
Missed chances, red cards, injuries, records broken and a penalty shootout to boot. This game had literally everything. A modern classic.

#1 AC Milan 3-3 Liverpool (2-3 on penalties) - 2005
Arguably the greatest club game ever, Istanbul witnessed something amazing on 25th May 2015.
AC Milan started the game strongly and took the lead through Paolo Maldini. Hernan Crespo took on the scoring baton and scored a brace to put his side 3-0 up at the interval. It all looked done and duster for Liverpool but they had different ideas.
Steven Gerrard flicked home a header to give them life and Vladimir Smicer's rasping drive meant that the comeback was on.
Then Gerrard was fouled in the box and Xabi Alonso stepped up to level the tie. His penalty was saved but he slotted the rebound to complete an astonishing comeback and leave Milan stunned.
In extra time, Jersy Dudek pulled off an incredible double save to deny Andriy Shevchenko and a feeling of 'it is meant to be' began to kick in for Liverpool.
Rafa Benitez's side prevailed 3-2 on penalties to complete one of the most astonishing nights in European history.

Sports / Pogba To Madrid. A Reality Or Rumor? by Tochukwu17(m): 7:01pm On May 28, 2019
Real Madrid are determined to sign Manchester United star Pogba as they plot a rebuild after an unusual La Liga campaign.
Los Blancos went into the season as reigning Champions League holders but, after Zinedine Zidane and Cristiano Ronaldo left the team struggled to get their play right.

Real Madrid were forced to sack both Julen Lopetegui and Santiago Solari before bringing Zidane back on track.

The Frenchman sees Pogba as the main man to solve the midfield problems, despite the 26-year-old blowing hot and cold for United.

For a while, it has been claimed the World Cup winner’s wage demands were holding up a transfer.
But Spanish pundit Inda, who was once head of Spanish newspaper Marca, says the player has agreed to take a pay cut.
And that, he says, mean a move to the Bernabeu is practically DONE.
"Pogba is practically done,” he said in reference to the United star and a Bernabeu move.

The first to appear will be Hazard and the next will be Pogba.
“He has agreed to lower his Manchester United salary: from £13m net per year to £10m.

Kylian Mbappe can become one of the greatest players in the world if continues to have the same work-ethic. He is on track of being the greatest talents ever produced. He has won a World Cup. How many teenagers can say that? I hope that one day he will come to the Premier League.

He really has all he takes, the humility, the talent, the attitude. He has everything

Sports / Scot 2018/19 Team Of The Year by Tochukwu17(m): 4:59pm On May 25, 2019
Goalkeeper – Allison

Brazilian goalkeeper Allison is Liverpool’s undisputed 1st choice goalie, and his recent performances has earned him a spot on our team of the season.
Allison just scooped up his 1st Epl golden glove award in his 1st season in England, having kept a Clean Sheet in 21 matches out of the 38 that he played in the league with 72 saves to go with.

LB – Jordi Alba

As at two weeks ago, if anyone asked you for the top two LB’s in world football at the moment. The answer would’ve been
Jordi and Alba. Such was his brilliant season, that in all fairness the next contender to him was as far as 3rd place.
No defender in world football has had more goal involvements than Jordi Alba all season. Being the 1st for assists and 6th in Goals across Europe.
The horrors of Anfield did show that he was still human and could be surpassed, but still good enough to be no1.

CB: Virgil Van Dijk

If in 2019 Virgil Van Dijk doesn’t finish in the top 5 players list, then we know there’s something wrong with the T.V’s of these journalists and media men.
The Rock Steady Dutch defender has been a giant all season long for Jurgen Klopp and his men, from bossing the epl to allow fewer goals than any other team to being unbeatable(literally) all season long in the UCL. Such has been his standard of consistency.
It’s no surprise he scooped the PFA player of the year with such ease.

CB – kalidou koulibaly

Yes Mathijs De Ligt was a sensation to watch this season but Koulibaly was just a tad bit better all season, the serie A defenderof the year was the standout performer for an impressive Napoli side who had a decent season under Carlo Ancelotti.

RB – Trent Alexander Arnold

One fact that needs to be spelt out is that TAA is only 20 years old. Yes 20
Trent Alexander Arnold is the 2nd highest assist provider for defenders across all of Europe with 16 assists to his name, arguably one of the best crossers in the game at the moment, not the best tackler you’d find but he still boasts an impressive 62% tackle success rate.

CM – Tanguay Ndombele

Your definition of a modern day Central Midfielder, Ndombele has been a beast in the middle of the park for Lyon this season, with some fiery displays in the League and the UCL whilst helping the team to a certain 3rd place finish this term.
Playing from defensive midfield Ndombele has had 7 assists in 33 appearances in the ligue1 which is pretty impressive for a 22 year old rising through the ranks.
Little wonder why Pep Guardiola has sighted him as a replacement for the ageing Fernandinho

CM – Paul Pogba

Amidst a dismal performance from the whole United squad this season, Paul Pogba was among the notable stand out performers for them this season and whenever he had a bad game, the whole United squad usually struggled.
16 goals and 11 assists across all competitions
Did enough to earn him a spot in the epl team of the season as well as our team of the season.

CM – Bernado Silva

When KDB was ruled out injured for majority of the season for city, it was time for Bernado Silva to step up, and the little Portuguese wizard did just that and more by even giving pep options on the flanks.
He did so well this season, that pep regarded him as undroppable.
He had a sublime second spell in the epl, enough to earn him recognition for PFA player of the year, and best young player of the year.

RW – Lionel Messi

And for another season running, we’ve witnessed a ruthless Lionel Messi, although he won’t be getting the highly coveted UCL this season, he’s been the standout performer across Europe this season.
With
50 goals yep, you heard that right-FIFTY
And 22 assists
In 49 official games with his closest rival coming a whopping 12 goals behind
Unreal figures.

LW – Eden Hazard

This season seems more likely than ever to be the last time Eden Hazard would play in a Chelsea shirt with a move to Real Madrid looking more certain.
But nevertheless he has been incredible this season
Registering 35 goal contributions in 49 official matches this season.
19 goals
16 assists
Chelsea’s standout player

CF – Mbappe

What’s more to say
The kid is a genius
And he’s already cement(ed)ing legendary status at 20
38 goals
And 17 assists
In just 42 games are shivering numbers for a 20 year old

Sports / 10 Transfers Likely To Happen by Tochukwu17(m): 5:28pm On May 21, 2019
1. Paul Pogba

The Manchester United midfielder is likely to be at the heart of the biggest transfer saga of the summer. Real Madrid want the Frenchman, who actually hasn’t done anything to play down the prospect of a move. United insist that he is not for sale, but a bid north of £100 million could tempt the club to sell

2. David De Gea

The Spain No. 1 is stalling on a new contract at Manchester United and could leave on a free transfer next summer. United have enquired about the availability of Atletico Madrid’s Jan Oblak, so if Juventus or Paris Saint-Germain formalize their interest in De Gea, a deal could be done.

3. Christian Eriksen

Real Madrid and Manchester United are both monitoring Eriksen’s contract situation at Spurs, with the Dane yet to sign a new deal. Eriksen has 12 months to run on his current contract, and Spurs face the decision of whether to cash in now or risk losing him for nothing next summer.

4. Gareth Bale

It’s another summer of uncertainty for the Real Madrid winger, but while Zinedine Zidane is prepared to offload the Welshman, Bale’s £600,000-a-week wages are likely to scare off most clubs. Bale will be 30 in July, so this is a huge summer for the former Tottenham man, who could struggle to find a new club.

5. Leroy Sane

Bayern Munich are keen to sign the Germany winger as part of their rebuild, and though City will not welcome a bid, the 23-year-old has grown frustrated with his lack of starts under Pep Guardiola. At this point, a move back to the Bundesliga this summer cannot be ruled out.

6. Antoine Griezmann

The Atletico Madrid forward rejected a move to Barcelona last summer, but the Spanish champions are expected to hold off Premier League interest from Chelsea and Manchester United to sign the France international this summer.

7. Eden Hazard
The Chelsea forward has said he has made a decision on his future but won’t reveal his intentions until after the Europa League final against Arsenal on May 28. With Hazard still stalling on a new deal and Real Madrid hovering, a move to Bernabeu is now the most likely outcome.

8. Philippe Coutinho

The Brazilian has become unsettled at Barcelona after being the target of intense criticism by the club’s supporters. Barca are prepared to sell the former Liverpool man but will want to recoup a large chunk of the £142 million fee paid to sign him from Anfield in January 2018.

9. Romelu Lukaku

Inter Milan have shown an interest in the Manchester United forward, who has admitted his desire to play in Serie A in the future. Lukaku has been in and out of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s starting team, so a move could happen if United are able to find a proven replacement.

10.Harry Maguire

The Leicester centre-half is on the radars of both Manchester City and Manchester United. Brendan Rodgers will be backed to strengthen his squad by Leicester’s owners, but after refusing to push for a move to United last summer, Maguire might see this window as his time to move to one of the game’s biggest clubs

11. Arsenal(down 4)

Arsenal have lost 3 matches on the trot and haven’t faced a team in the top half of the EPL in that period other than wolves. Poor results have all but rued Unai Emery’s chances of a top 4 finish. Their 3-0 loss to Leicester was simply embarrassing. All Focus is now on the Europa League.

10. Eintchart Frankfurt (-)

For a team whom 5 games ago were battling for a top 3 finish, 2 draws in 2 league games hasn’t helped their cause and has rooted them to 4th place in the Bundesliga standings. 10 points shy of 3rd place but 3 points ahead of 5th. Indecisive

9. Chelsea (up 2)

Chelsea haven’t been playing classy in the past few games, but they’ve been grinding out necessary results. They’re in a better position than they were last week. 2 points ahead of the closest chasers in the top 4 race with 2 games to go, and a mouth-watering Europa League semi-final tie against Eintracht Frankfurt to look forward to.

8. Dortmund (up 1)

It might look a bit laggy and slow, but Dortmund are finally regaining their focus and steady making progress in their chase for the Bundesliga Crown. They’ve recorded a goal every 23 minutes in the past 180 minutes of Bundesliga football, and they’ve allowed just one goal in that period. Unstoppable

7. Bayern (down 1)

– A disappointing 1-1 draw away at Nürnberg has blown the title race open again with 5 games to spare and Bayern only 2 points ahead of Dortmund. But they shouldn’t be looked down on as they’re still in line to lift 2 domestic trophies this season. Dominant

6. Juventus (up 2)

8th consecutive Serie A title. Everyone knew it was bound to come to Turin, the only real question was when? Utterly Dominant. CR7 scored his 600th Club career goal in a 1-1 draw against Inter Milan.

5. Tottenham (-)

Tottenham haven’t had the most comfortable of periods over the past 2 weeks, but they have held on to 3rd place in the league even with 2 defeats in their last 3 games and a fairly balanced semi-final tie with Ajax on the cards this week has maintained them the no5.

4. Manchester City(-)

The not so noisy neighbors of Manchester got the job done against their city rivals to move 1 point clear of Liverpool at the summit of the EPL table and did the same against a resilient Burnley side to maintain that lead. Shows how much Guardiola isn’t in England to play away league titles as we’ve seen the pragmatic approach of Pep’s coaching come into play. Serious business

torphix:
The game of football thrives on cooperation and teamwork in winning laurels and achieving dominance whether in the short run or the long run. This explains why the two football geniuses, Messi and Ronaldo may never lift the prestigious World Cup trophy.

In fact, it took sheer determination and effort for Portugal to win the European Nations Cup in 2016 against France while Argentina with Messi, failed to win either the World Cup or the Copa America in four finals.
