TravelRe: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedures Part 5 by toesyn: 4:42pm On Nov 27, 2017
Good evening all,

So I went for another interview today after coming out clean that I didn't use my previous visa for the purpose which I was meant for... Transcript below...

VO: Good morning, Passport Please
Me: Good morning and I gave him my passport
VO: Why are you going to the US and where
Me: To have my baby and am going to Boston MANOR
VO: Where will you be staying
Me: Ramada Hotel, gave him the address
VO: What do you do
Me: Told him where I work
VO: What does your DH do
Me: He owns a business and I explain his business and when he started.
VO: How much does he make a month
Me: I told him and he said wow, and I immediately, I told him I have his statements of accounts to prove he make as much as I claimed, he said I should give him the statement of accounts, which I did
VO: Have you travelled outside Nigeria before
Me: Yes, UK, UAE and US
VO: Why US and not UAE to give birth
Me: Because US gives dual citizenship which my first child already has and I don't want to deny my second child the opportunity too
VO: Does your husband have valid visa
Me: Yes and I gave him copy of his visa
Then he asked to see the receipt of my past delivery and I showed him,
VO: Are you using the same contract and hospital
Me: Yes
VO: Have you contacted the hospital
Me: Yes, he asked for the mail and new contract, and I gave him.
VO: Your Visa has been approved and he gave me the white paper.

Lesson: I realised that everybody's story is different but the most important thing is to be always truthful... And likewise, don't be scared about saying the truth.
Most importantly, I prayed, Yes... I prayed.... because the VO did not even talk or say anything about why I was denied last month....which was when I came out clean that I didn't use my visa for the purpose it was meant for before going to give birth.

Thanks to everyone for their contributions here, because if not for this place, I won't know I can go to the embassy and say I want to have my child in the US.

Sorry for the long post.

Yes I did, which was the reason my Dropbox was delayed, my passport was with them for 105days and was denied because of purpose of travel.

elfmann:
The question shld be.. Was she asked if she was pregnant and she answered No?
@elfmann, at my first interview in 2015, all questions were directed to my husband,I was only asked about my job, I was not asked and I was visibly pregnant at 26wks plus, though as at then, I didn't know I was to make my intentions known if asked or not.
Have learnt my lessons to always make extensive research when embarking on any project.
So I was not asked and for the newbies, do not hide ur intentions if asked or not. Although there are people out there who still don't know they can tell a VO they are pregnant.

Lufthansa:
@toesyn sorry. Was ur husband with u in the US during the 20weeks stay?
@Lufthansa, he left after a week and came back few days to delivery and left after the 8th day, then we went for vacation in 2016 for 2 weeks.
His visa was issued during the dropbox while I was called in for interview.

[quote author=Nwebele post=61514049]Sorry abou the refusal. Am just curious to know. Did you pass through the POE as vacationing, and how many months did they sign you in?

Both were 6 months and yes vacation but when my hubby came in December when I had my baby, he was signed in for 8days and he left after the 8th day... Fortunately, he doesn't have issue renewing his own, guess the two applications were treated separately.

TravelRe: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedures Part 5 by toesyn:
In Spirit of giving back, I had my interview today, Although I was denied but I was happy that I said the truth at the interview.
Had my first visa in 2015 Sept for visiting but gave birth in Dec,never knew I could declare child birth,I remember I saw a heavy pregnant woman that and I and hubby was saying she's bold.
Anyway, I paid all my fees and we went on vacation again in 2016 with no issue at POE.
It was here I knew about zero balance, hospital and doctor correspondence etc.... I called Boston Medical centre and my zero balance was sent.
We did Dropbox for renewal, hubby's own was issued and I was called in for interview.
Before the dropbox, I already called hospitals and doctors in Boston since I knew I would be called to explain myself...below is my transcript:

VO: Good morning, can I have your passport
Me: Good morning and hands over the passport
VO: Why are you going to the US
Me: For childbirth
VO: How long did you stay in the US the last time
Me: 20 weeks
VO: What were you doing
Me: I had my first child
VO: When
Me: December
VO: You had your visa in September and gave birth in December, that means you lied during your interview.
Me: Yes and am sorry for the lies
VO: Do u have proof of payment
Me: Yes and I showed it to her, she went through it
VO: what do you do
Me: I told her where I work and I explained my duties extensively
VO: what does your hubby do
Me: I told her what he does
VO: We take the issue of 'credibility' very serious, am sorry ma'am I can't give you the visa.

Lesson learnt:
Before embarking on any project, do your research very well and extensively, if I have the information I have now in 2015,I wouldn't have been denied the visa.

I hope the newbies learn from my experience and always be truthful.
