Even the Baltic Sea area have been experiencing severe GPS jamming by Russia, forcing Finland, Sweden and co to suspend some flights due to GPS interference. Ships on the Baltic Sea nearly collide into each other due to the jamming. But NATO does a really great job at hiding it from the public.

New Jersey Democrat faces decades in prison following his conviction for taking bribes and acting as an agent for Egypt’s government.

United States Senator Bob Menendez has announced that he will resign next month following his conviction on corruption charges , including bribery and acting as an
agent for Egypt’s government .

The decision on Tuesday came as Menendez’s fellow Democrats piled pressure on him to step down or face becoming the first politician to be expelled from the Senate since 1862.

“I will be resigning from my office as the United States Senator from New Jersey, effective on the close of business on Aug. 20, 2024,” Menendez’s letter said.

“While I fully intend to appeal the jury’s verdict, all the way and including to the Supreme Court, I do not want the Senate to be involved in a lengthy process that will detract from its important work,” the letter added.

Democratic New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy will appoint a replacement for Menendez, who has represented New Jersey in the Senate since 2006 and served as chairman of the influential Foreign Relations Committee before giving up that post after being charged last year.
Menendez’s current six-year term ends on January 3.

Murphy said in a statement he had received the letter but did not provide details on when he would finalise a decision for naming Menendez’s temporary replacement.

Bribery schemes
Menendez, 70, was found guilty on July 16 by a jury in a Manhattan federal court on all 16 criminal counts he faced – also including obstruction of justice, wire fraud and extortion – after a nine-week trial. Two co-defendants also were convicted.

The case centred on what prosecutors called bribery schemes in which the senator and his wife Nadine Menendez accepted hundreds of thousands of dollars in cash, gold bars and car and mortgage payments from three businessmen. In exchange, Menendez steered billions of dollars in US aid to Egypt and tried to influence the criminal prosecutions of two of the businessmen, prosecutors said.

Menendez, who plans to appeal, faces decades in prison.

US District Judge Sidney Stein has set the politician’s sentencing for October 29, a week before the November 5 election.

The Senate received a copy of Menendez’s resignation letter, according to Senator Peter Welch of Vermont, who was presiding in the chamber on Tuesday.

Menendez’s resignation will temporarily reduce the Democratic majority in the Senate to 50-49 until Murphy’s appointee is sworn in to finish what remains of Menendez’s term.

Democratic US Representative Andy Kim is running for the seat in November and is favoured to win in Democratic-leaning New Jersey.

Numerous Democrats had called for Menendez to resign, including Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer and Cory Booker, New Jersey’s other senator. Murphy, the New Jersey governor, had urged the Senate to expel Menendez if he did not quit.

The trial was Menendez’s second after a 2017 trial ended when the jury could not reach a unanimous verdict. Menendez was then censured by the Senate ethics committee for accepting gifts from a wealthy longtime friend in exchange for official favours.

Menendez was first appointed to his Senate seat in 2006 after serving 13 years in the US House of Representatives. He then won election three times to the Senate.

He earlier served in the New Jersey legislature and as a mayor.

For decades, he has been a forceful voice on US foreign relations, most recently advocating for additional aid to Ukraine and Israel as Democratic President Joe Biden pushed Congress to allocate more money to foreign allies embroiled in conflicts.

My neighbor which is close to me bought a second hand Camry 2003. Right from wen he bought the car, he is aware that the car Catalyst has being removed. In the process of removing the catalyst they cut the engine manifold to remove the catalyst. The catalyst was removed in a very poor and rough way.dey weld it back, with the 02 sensors. With means the 02 can not b removed again cos it has being welded with the manifold. Wen he bought the car the fuel consumption was much but not really much, but for like 4 months now, the Fuel consumption has extremely high. He scand the car, the scanner shows that the 02 sensor and the Air flow meter sensor not working. Which he has to Change. The mechanic said he has to remove the manifold and get another one, But he said the one he will get must have a catalyst, My guy said he doesn't have money to but manifold with d one with catalyst, but can only afford the one without catalyst, which is around 15k. But the Mechanic said without catalyst in the manifold O2 sensor is useless, Then I argue with mechanic that it is not true Cos a friend of mine bought a corroalla 2004 his catalyst was stolen without his knowledge, but the fuel economy still perfect. He later discover after like 6months. Wen the mechanic check something on the car. Pls is it true that without catalyst the 02 sensor will not work.

Rights groups’ analysis of official data from 2009-2023 shows some 630 villages in Xinjiang had their names changed in this way.


China has “systematically” changed the names of hundreds of villages with religious, historical, or cultural meaning for Uighurs to names that resonate with the ideology of the Chinese Communist Party, according to a new report from Human Rights Watch.

The rights group, working in partnership with Norwegian advocacy organisation Uyghur Hjelp, said it identified 630 villages in the far western region of Xinjiang whose names had been changed in this way by scraping data from 2009 to 2023 on the website of the National Bureau of Statistics of China. The most common replacements were Happiness, Unity, and Harmony.

“The Chinese authorities have been changing hundreds of village names in Xinjiang from those rich in meaning for Uyghurs to those that reflect government propaganda,” Maya Wang, acting China director at Human Rights Watch, said in a statement accompanying the report on Wednesday. “These name changes appear part of Chinese government efforts to erase the cultural and religious expressions of Uyghurs.”

China’s policies in Xinjiang drew international attention in 2018 when the United Nations said that at least one million mostly Muslim Uighurs and other Turkic minorities were being held in a network of re-education centres. Beijing said the camps were vocational training centres teaching Mandarin and other skills necessary to tackle “extremism” and prevent “ terrorism “.

Leaks of official government documents , investigations by human rights groups and academics, as well as testimony from Uighurs themselves revealed Uighurs had also been targeted in other alleged abuses from forced sterilisation to family separation and targeting of religious beliefs and traditions.

The latest Human Rights Watch report said most of the village name changes took place between 2017 and 2019 – the height of the crackdown – and ensured references to Uighur history, including the names of its kingdoms, republics and local leaders before the People’s Republic of China was established in 1949, were removed. Village names were also changed if they involved terms that suggested Uighur cultural practices, such as mazar (shrine), and dutar (a two-stringed lute).

Among the examples in the report was Qutpidin Mazar village in Kashgar, which was originally named after a shrine of the 13th-century Persian polymath and poet, Qutb al-Din al-Shirazi, but became known as Rose Flower village in 2018. Meanwhile, Dutar village in Karakax County was renamed Red Flag village in 2022.

Uyghur Hjelp interviewed 11 Uighurs who lived in villages whose names had been changed, and found that the experience had had a deep effect on them. One villager told the group she faced difficulties going home after she was released from a re-education camp because the village name she knew was no longer included in the ticketing system. Another villager told Uyghur Hjelp that he had written a poem and commissioned a song as a memorial to the now lost locations where he had once lived.

The UN’s then human rights chief Michelle Bachelet requested access to Xinjiang when details of the re-education camps first emerged.

She was finally allowed to visit in 2022 and concluded that “serious human rights violations” had been committed and that the scale of arbitrary and discriminatory detention of Uighurs and other mostly Muslim groups … “may constitute international crimes, in particular crimes against humanity “.

Abduweli Ayup, founder of Uyghur Hjelp, urged international governments to do more to press China over the situation in Xinjiang, where he said hundreds of thousands of Uighur people remained “wrongfully imprisoned”.

“Concerned governments and the UN human rights office should intensify their efforts to hold the Chinese government accountable for their abuses in the Uyghur region,” he said in the statement.
