dBard:as nice as your point may seem to be don't forget that there are 4 different refineries involved with different maintenance requirements therefore if the TAM work was carried out most likely work would end at various times at the various refineries and not at the same time or within close proximity as we may experience. In addition, it is also nice you recall that just last week it was just the PH refinery that NNPC said would become operational next month now they've come to say that all would be operational I think it is only logical to conclude that the refineries aren't really as bad as to be left idle but some peoples interest (definitely oil marketers) were been protected against the nation's interest by keeping them idle. Now let me ask you if you really think GEJ won't av used the TAM project as campaign point if it was actually been executed at least he used the rail project for campaign even though it was not a completed project then and even till now. In conclusion, my take is that the refineries were not as bad as to be left idle and now Buhari wants to bring them into use therefore Buhari should take the credit. |
It has been widely acclaimed that the recent NASS drama has produced 'winners' and 'losers'. While some think the 'loser' is the APC some think it is Jagaban, but I think it is Nigeria - yes Nigeria is on the receiving end and not any other person or institution... Why? I think so because the new leadership of the NASS especially the Senate was not arrived at by answering the question 'who is best for the job?' rather, the PDP who obviously were the main determinants of the new leadership were more of interested in the question 'who is APC's candidate for the job and how do we oppose the candidate?' if the APC's candidate for the job is best for the job was not their business as there main business was how to satisfy party and selfish desires. This goes to say that for the PDP, resisting the APC agenda is more important than getting the best person to do the job. This new development would mean that mean that the APC would need to re-strategise on how to fulfil her electoral promises which obviously the PDP would most likely oppose to the best of her ability as a successful APC government would mean a total extinction for the PDP. Party manifesto is what is implemented in government and that majority of APC Senators opposed Saraki's candidature speaks volume about the latter's agenda. This is a sharp contrast to what happened in 2011 when the majority of PDP Honorables supported Tambuwal in his bid to actualize his speakership ambition. My take is that Nigeria will always be on the receiving end as long as we play 'party centered' politics as opposed to 'nation centered' politics, Nigeria will always be on the receiving end until placing square pegs in square holes become our priority as a nation not minding party, religious or tribal inclination. Nigerians need to understand that the interest of the country is more important than any party's or person's interest and therefore should consider National interest first for Nigeria to always be the winner. Thank you! |
After reading a couple of articles on President Buhari's first one week in office I am compelled to pen down my opinion. Firstly, I'll like to state that it grieves my heart to conclude that many Nigerians actually want a magician at the helm of affairs and not someone who would try to logically address the challenges confronting us. Many writers already expressed their displeasure on 3major issues and I'll like to share my opinion on each. These issues are - 1- The President's failure to publicly declare his assets 2- The President's failure to appoint Ministers and firing of Service Chiefs 3- The President's recent international trips For Point 1... it is important we note that the President already fulfilled his promise to declare his assets as he never promised to verbally read out his assets. If that information is so important to anyone then approach the Code of Conduct Bureau based on the Freedom of Information Act you can get the information for yourself. (Though I am also OK with having such published in Newspapers) For Point 2 - it is important we note that Ministers are political appointees and without them Federal Ministries will function effectively. There is at least a Permanent Secretary in every ministry who happens to be the most senior civil servant in the ministry hence responsible for the running of the ministry when the Minister is not available. While some (including myself) are of the opinion that Mr President ought to come to office with an already completed list of Ministers so he could 'hit the ground and start running' as we may expect but wait a minute and ask yourself this questions - Am I aware of the contents of the hand over notes given to Buhari? - Do I have access to confidential information available to Mr President? If your answers to the 2questions happen to be 'NO' then you should understand that you can not have a perfect plan of how you'll run your government until you get there and reality steers at you therefore, the best you may have is a sketch of your plans. No wonder Mr President once said that the APC manifesto is not like the Holy Books as it may subject to being modified. Point 3 - This is another issue causing serious debate while some believe it is OK some believe it is no but I belong to the group that considers it OK. Why? you may ask... I am of the opinion that we don't know exactly was discussed but Mr President must have considered it a necessary trip in a bid to fulfil his electoral promises. As regards changing of service chiefs and appointing of Ministers this will be done in due time. What we should be doing as a nation is encouraging the government to take her time but GET IT RIGHT. I conclusion, let us not forget that the President promised to fulfil his electoral promises within a space of 4years (52 * 4 = 208weeks) and not 1 or 2weeks so to me IT IS TOO EARLY AND UNFAIR TO RATE THIS GOVERNMENT A FAILURE as we did not get to this stage over night and things can't get better over night. To achieve anything you need time and that is what we should give this government. Thank you! |
Is there anyone in the house who is yet to be contacted after the interview especially those with the Code MRK because I've not been contacted or I'm I now OYO? |
