Government is about the people. But this seems not to be the case in Nigeria. It seems Government is about the few leaders in power. How they can amass wealth for themselves and families and leave the people hungry.

Well, the people are tired. Empty promises from government to goverment. Now, the people want to protest and goverment is saying that they should be patient. For how long. I really don't subscribe to protest but it's the constitutional right of people to protest. Below are the options available for goverment to avert this protest;

1. Simply resign and set up an interim goverment to re elect competent leaders. Must you continue to lead when you know your leadership is bringing untold suffering. There is no glimpse of hope. Things are going from bad to worse.

It's not a sign of weakness to resign. It's a sign of greatness and it demonstrates that the interest of the people should be placed above selfish and personal gains.

It's only in Nigeria and probably Africa that politicians hardly resign from office.

2. If the first suggestion is difficult to do, then this second one is inevitable. Declare a state of emergency in food supply. Open stores in centres and sell out basic food like rice in cheap and affordable prices. These stores should be guarded by soldiers. Let everyone have equal access to buy the food. The idea of distributing free truck load of rice to states will not work. First the trucks will be diverted. And over 90% of those who are supposed to benefit from it will never see it. Instead, make them available in open markets.

3. Open borders and let food come in. Release all seized rice to the market.

4. Stop immediate importation of refined petroleum products. Let our refineries work. Allow Dangote refinery to work

5. Remove petroleum from exclusive list. Let state build and have refineries. This is a long-term solution.

6. Remove security from exclusive list. Let states have their own police. The problem of insecurity is contributing to high prices of food items.

7. Support local industries. Stop importation of things we can produce such as try circle aka keke and many other things we import. We need an industrial revolution.

8. Lastly, we need agricultural revolution. It was our major source of income before oil came. Let's go back to mechanised large scale farming. Malaysia came to Nigeria few years ago, took our palm fruits and today, they are the largest exporters of palm oil.

Please, add your points and criticize constructively.

Above all, let's keep praying for our nation. Nigeria will be great again.
