These are some of the things i was able to gather from a little research I did on this subject matter "can a Muslim work in an interest based bank"

Muslims are not to deal in interest. Allah said in the Holy Qur'an "Those who devour usury(interest) will not stand....Allah has permitted trade and forbidden usury(interest).... Allah will deprive usury(interest) of all blessing, but will give increase for deeds of charity..." (Qur'an 2:275-6).

in another verse Allah said: "O you who believe! Devour not usury(interest), doubled and multiplied. But fear Allah, that you may really prosper" (Qur'an 3:130).

This prohibition is for all interest-based transactions, whether giving or receiving, whether dealing with Muslims or non-Muslims.

It is also reported that the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) cursed those who pay interest, those who receive it, those who write a contract based on it, and those who witness such a contract.

May Allah guide us to the right path.

I also got this union bank offer, & after going through this trend I've lost interest on going to the training school. Cos even the 2M bond I think is unislamic. Since when I received the offer I keep asking myself why did dis offer come with a 2 year bond or 2M? What if after training something better come your way? cos I know all of us including myself have been applying for different jobs.
In my case I've applied for a lecturing job in different universities but this ASUU strike is delaying things, pls Brothers & sister in Islam I need your advise, should I take the banking job which I have to sign a bond or wait for ASUU to call off the strike and see what will happen.

Heard from someone bt don't know if it's true that NPC have send in the list of people to be recruitted to the FCC for confirmation. Homely they will start calling by next week.

Hey Nairalander, pls is any1 been called by the NPC for an aptitude test/interview, I think the application is done almost the same time with INEC, pls what is delaying NPC from calling us any in-house info from those close to them should pls post here.
