Hello, My IV interview is imminent. The police report I used as part of my civil documents will be exactly one year old just 2 weeks after my interview. Do I still have to get a new one for the interview? Thanks. |
Hello @seyewest and crew Nice job your doing here. I've asked the VOs at the NIV forum but their response is late in coming. First, my wife and kids are LPRs and I just got a B1/B2 visa to visit them. The airport indicated on the ds160 is Phily but air fares to the place are sometimes double what you get for JFK, which i didn't know at the time of filling the form. To conserve money, I bought ticket for flight to New York with Etihad. I have also bought a Greyhound bus ticket from New York to Delaware. Will this be a serious issue? Also, I've not seen my kids in over a year, the two of them requested that I come a little earlier than I mentioned on the ds 160. How does one explain all these to the CBP officers? Thanks in anticipation of your counsel. |
Hello VO, My B1/B2 visa was approved recently. However, at the time of filing the form DS 160, I indicated that I will be entering the United States through Philadelphia which is the closest airport to my family. Once the visa was approved, I soon found out air tickets for that route are overly expensive. On the other hand, air tickets to JFK, New York are much more affordable. I intend to purchase the affordable ticket for the Lagos - New York route. The plan is to go by Greyhound Bus from New York to Delaware and I intend to purchase the Greyhound ticket even before leaving Nigeria. Now my questions are: 1. Will this create serious problem for me at the POE? 2. Do I need to write the US embassy in Nigeria about this turn of events necessitating change of travelling route? 3. Should I just stick to the initial travel plan indicated on my DS 160 being my first time of travel to the United States? Thanks. NB: I have a pending IV petition. |
[quote author=abujaniv post=57942603]Hello topoexavier. It is not impossible to obtain a nonimmigrant visa (B1/B2, F1, etc.) while also pursuing an immigrant visa. That said, it may be a high hurdle to do so. In applying for the nonimmigrant visa, you are demonstrating and swearing that you do not have an immigrant intent, when clearly you do in this case. Your ties to your home country will be weighed against your external ties. [] Thanks a million VO for your helpful advice. Had my interview today. Visa granted! Will be back in no time so as not to sink my F2A petition |
Dear VO, I was refused B1/B2 visa last year based on section 214 ..... I got married to the mother of my kids, who is a US legal permanent resident alongside my kids shortly after. She promptly filed form I-130 for me. Between the time of my last application for NIV and now, I became self employed and own a very profitable pharmaceutical business, though I was also a top staff of the company I last worked with and had a very good salary. Despite the ongoing process of filing, can I proceed to apply for a B1/B2 visa? Please note, I do not intend to spoil my chances of obtaining F2A visa by not obeying the rules of B1/B2 visa or becoming an illegal immigrant through it. Thanks in anticipation of your response. |
Hello VO, My F2B case is presently being processed at NVC with my father being the sponsor. My joint sponsors are my brother and sister. However, my brother lives in a different state from my father and sister. Is it appropriate for my brother who doesn't live in the same house with my dad to still fill the Form I-864A? Thanks. |
