The Commissioner of Women and Children Affairs, Lady Mrs Ndidi Mezue, Ada Dioramma , was moved to tears as she visited, in an undisclosed hospital, Onitsha, the three kids rescued from one Rejoice Raymond and her aged mother Chidi Felicia Nwafor last week on 19th February, 2021, in a raid carried out by policemen attached to 3-3 Police station, Nkwelle. Recall during the raid that evening, the three children were found naked with their hands and legs tied, as the women were alleged to pound those kids in mortar for their devilish intentions. Arriving at the special ward were the kids are being given medical attention and taken care of, Lady Ndidi Mezue, expressed shock at the level of inhuman treatment the children were subjected to, as they had scars, with fresh bruises from a purported infliction meted on them. The doctor on call appraised the Commissioner on the extensive and prompt medical attention given to the kids so far since they were admitted, as Lady Mezue emphasised that such report will guide the Ministry on when it will be safe to move them. The kids were beginning to show sign of life except for the girl among them, gift, who according to the Doctor, was said to sustain fracture in her arm but will be taken care of. With the case now transferred to the State CID, Awka, Lady Mezue has assured that the case will be given the much accelerated hearing and everyone involved will face the law, as the State Government, through the Ministry will continue fight child abuses in Anambra. For Jeff, Ikechukwu and Gift, the visit of the Commissioner brought gleams of hope, after the torturous experience they were exposed to at their tender age. Some change of clothes and enough provisions to sustain them during their time at the hospital, to aid their quick recovery. Also, a special nurse from the Ministry was assign to them, to look after them. Few Months After, See Transformation of the little girl who was once abused by her foster mother late last year. When the Commissioner for Women and Children Affairs, Lady Mrs Ndidi Mezue Ada Dioramma, rescued her in November 2020, there were little chances that the kid would survive the numerous ragged scars ravaging her body from wire beating and red-hot machete that her foster mother used on her. Two months after, with the right care and attention, surrounded by loving people, this little angel, shines with life as one can see in her new transformation. You can’t but wonder what would have happened with her had the Ministry not come to her rescue and treated her properly. For Ada Dioramma, every child in our society has the right to food and education, and to live a dignified life. The Child Rights Act of 2003 makes it an offence to subject any child to physical or emotional torture, or submit them to any inhuman or degrading treatment. And Anambra State, through the Ministry of Women and Children Affairs, has domesticated the Child Rights Act, with other specific provisions for other kind of abuses. Under the Commissioner's supervising there has been an increase in advocacy across the state to deal with issues like this.

ANAMBRA COMMISSIONER RESCUES BRUTALISED TODDLER IN ABAGANA ACCUSED OF WITCHCRAFT The Commissioner of Women and Children Affairs, Lady Ndidi Mezue, has come to the rescue of a 6 years old child, brutalized by her foster mother in Abagana. The child whose name is Amanda was spotted by a good Samaritan, Miss Loritha Ebere Obelue from Akpu Village, Abagana, who noticed the burnt and severe scars all over body and raised alarm. The Ministry through the Child's department swung into action immediately and the culprit, 39 years old, Agatha Uba, from Imo State was picked and brought to the Ministry for questioning. Releasing that nemesis has caught up with her and speaking from both sides of the mouth, Mrs Agatha said her pastor revealed to her that the child was a witch, after years of watching her misbehave and showing signs of witchcraft. And to deliver her, Amanda will be handcuffed, beaten and kept days indoors, some days without food until rescue came her way. From preliminary investigation, it was discovered that the woman, had other 3 children under her custody, and all were allegedly stolen, as she has no child of her own. A powerful movement for the actualization of Igbo Presidency come 2023 gets underway as it was launched today at Awka, the State capital of Anambra State. The epoch making summit had in attendance respected individuals of Igbo extraction, such as Sen. Ben Ndi Obi (Ojelugbo), Comr. Ebitu Ukiwe, Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu, Chief Chukwuemeka Ezeife, Iyom Josephine Anenih, and many others in attendance. The mandate was simple and that is to brainstorm on the way forward towards actualizing a President of Nigeria from the Igbo extraction come 2023. In his opening remarks, Sen Ben Ndi Obi, CON, justifying the call for Igbo Presidency, went down memory lane; "the last time an Igbo man ruled this country was in the short-lived military regime of late Gen. Aguiyi Ironsi, which lasted for 194 days only, and if I am correct, this was like 54 years ago, and Nigeria turned 60 years penultimate Thursday". "21 years after return to civil rule; this therefore makes the clamor for an Igbo man to be President of this country not only a deservedly call, but one premised on the prism of justice, equity, fairness and inclusiveness", he enthused. Concluding he said, "for Ndigbo to successfully prosecute the journey to Aso Rock, they must consciously pursue four cardinal things, which are; Bridge across the Zones, reaching out to political parties, Mobilizing Ndigbo to be on the same page and consulting with major stakeholders across the zones". Amb. Kema Chikwe, on her own part stated that the 2023 Igbo presidency is a laudable and justified quest, but to achieve that a survey and appraisal of the Igbos as a nation must be done by the Igbos themselves. "While our country Nigeria gets prepared for the 2023 presidential election, it becomes fair and proper for the other ethnic major tribes in Nigeria to see the 2023 Igbo presidency as a worthy cause in the Spirit of Justice, equity and fair play" she stated. "The Igbos must de-emphasize selfishness in this pursuit but must come together in unity of purpose, when this is achieved then they can initiate persuasive dialogues with other parts of our country Nigeria to convince them on the need for the Igbo presidency allaying any kind of fears harbored by tribal sentiments". It was the same spirited speech from the President General of Ohanaze Ndigbo in UK, Dr Nnanna Igwe, a lecturer at the Imperial College London. Dr Igwe who bemoaned the flawed amalgamation of the country, noted that the dream of the founding fathers has not been achieved. He however said that giving Igbo a chance, will bring Nigeria to greatness again. Speakers upon speakers, all took turn to speak and the message was clear and that is the need to commence wide range consultation with all stakeholders from the zones, and living no stone unturned in pursuit of Igbo Presidency come 2023. The convener of the Global Movement For Igbo President 2023, GLOMIP2023, Comr Kennedy Iyere, speaking at the summit said the Igbo Presidency dream is a global movement and nothing is stopping it. Reawakening the 'i-can-do' spirit of the audience at the auditorium, Comr Iyere emphatically stated that the movement needs people who will support the course, live for it and if need be, die for it. With the involvement and support of UK, EU and other foreign interest, Comr Kennedy Iyere said what will make the Igbo Presidency possible goes beyond the Igbo nation. "It is going to be global. We are going to the UK, EU Congress to talk. An Igbo man can transform this country" he stated. Other in attendance include, Chief Gary Enwo-Igariwey, Amb George A. Obiozor, and Dr Tanko Yinusa. Highpoint of the summit was the unveiling of Global Movement For Igbo President 2023. Source: https://www.topgist360.com/2020/10/awka-summit-global-movement-for-igbo.html?m=1 |
