Another 14 referees and assistants from various countries were provisionally suspended following a meeting of CAF’s disciplinary board this weekend. The cases mean 18 African referees and assistants have now been banned in the last month, with a picture emerging of widespread corruption among the continent’s match officials. https://futbolpublic.com/forums/topic/7-corrupted-african-soccer-referees-banned-14-suspended/ |

Nigerians are still giving our country a bad name. Have you heard of a romance scam? Media outlets are reporting that about 7 Nigerians have been charged by the U.S. for scamming over $1.5 million from various people via online dating. The modus operandi is that these alleged scammers create fake profiles using gorgeous profile pictures to lure unsuspecting people to their profiles. They invest time in creating a water-tight relationship with their victims which can extend into months in building trust between the parties. Then they strike. They allege that they need money from their victims who provide it. The charges filed in Atlanta include money laundering and identity theft. To appreciate the gravity and extent to which these scams are executed, read this profile by the Huffington Post. In fact, the FBI (Federal Bureau of Investigation) have detailed what romance scams involve. Be careful with online dating, don’t say you haven’t been warned. http://qwenu.com/2018/07/14/nigerians-charged-by-united-states-in-alleged-online-romance-scams/ |
