I can do anything to free myself. Please just speak up” I pleaded. The detective shook his head, bit his lips and stared at me.
“hmmmm, if i’m unable to make any breakthrough within two days, you will have to harm yourself in a way that it will be impossible to put you up for trial. That’s the only way out” he said cautiously......continue reading here

Nairaland / General / Surviving Behinde Development by TOSINBROWN: 8:55pm On Oct 14, 2016
URVIVING BEHIND DEVELOPMENT by T.B.A
Many a times, I listen to the complains of the people of my country about the incompetence and inadequacy of the government, and the negative effect it has on its citizen and economy. The question I ask is “What would you as a Nigerian have done differently”?. And most times the answer I get are very disturbing and I wonder if Nigeria can ever meet the standard of a developed country because as far as I am concerned we are not even a developing country but under-developed. The last person I directed my usual question to, said “I would provide light, water, roads etc” hmmm..took a deep breath. That was well said but to me that sounded like what every of our leaders had always said in the past, then it dawned on me that an average Nigerian sees the problem of the country as a survival of the fitest, that is why we extremely do everything illegal or legal to survive, pursue political ambition for personal interest at the slightest opportunity in our loosed government entity. Life's are lived like its only for a day and leave the future to handle itself, 'cut corners' at our work places, take bribes and other unimaginable things all in the name to survive and this has become a way of life which has eaten deep in our subconscious. I then realized that the problem of the country inability to develop is not the government but the people. There is a saying that the greatest asset of nation is its people which means that the people makes up the nation not the nation making up the people and the mindset of the people reflects the status and the value of a nation. Take for instance, if in Nigeria we flush out the current government out of power and replace with a totally different set of people, I can assure you that we will experience more economic wreck, why? because the people who makes up the nation, makes up the government and as long as this survival mind set is embedded in the people then we just swore in new set of thieves..Lol ,who would be more desperate than the previous ones who left power. Looking at Ghana as a reference point: It has constant electricity and all basic amenities but yet still dint make the list of developed county in the world, and what does that tells us? it simply means that the strength of a nation is not determined by the sustenance of its amenities or infrastructure but by its economic power, and the economic power is determine by the production power of it people. And not until we start conceiving the thoughts of development we will keep surviving and surviving behind development. …to be continued

As we got up to leave, i passionately pleaded to the detective to help me out. “seriously i have no hand in my husband’s death. You have to help me. You have to do something” I pleaded desperately. “as long as you are innocent, you have no problem with me. I’m a good cop. I promise to get to the bottom of this case” The middle aged officer promised while my brother smiled with relief. “now you are talking officer. Don’t let them intimidate or stop you from doing the right thing” he advised as they shook hands.
On our way out of the force headquarters, my brother held me on the shoulder and....click the link to keep reading

write with Tears, I woke up after my wedding night to see a knife buried in my husband’s
chest, our bed sheet soaked with blood. I couldn’t believe my eyes, i couldn’t believe it was all real. I held
my dead husband and looked around. “no this can’t be happening” i breathed, trying hard to control myself. But itwas all real, Damian was cold and still. He was dead for real. “nooo” i sobbed
quietly, wondering what to do, wondering the next step to take. There was any doubt, i was about
experiencing a very terrible twist in my life. Damian was definitely murdered by someone who was so desperate to destroy my happiness. I sat down on the floor while my mind flashed back to how i met my husband. After NYSC, early the previous year. I came to Abuja to live with my elder brother who was a doctor in one of the city hospitals. He had no problem getting me a good job in a very popular construction company inside the city.
Seriously i counted myself as a very lucky girl because i was the first to get a job among all my classmates and friends. I started work in Damian’s office as a secretary and that was when my life took a dramatic turn. Damian who was my boss, a white and an American citizen quickly took interest in me. He was so sweet and caring but equally a womanizer.Everyone warned me to be careful. My colleagues advised me to be professional when dealing with him and never give in to his demands, which i obeyed. But surprisingly he continued disturbing me, even after turning him down so many times. The more i turned him away, the more bolder he got. This continued until i finally gave in to him. We had a very sweet relationship that soon became the talk of the town. As our relationship progressed, i started getting threats from his old girlfriends both in Nigeria and abroad, but it never stopped me from giving up on him. Three months into the relationship, he proposed to me and met my people, drawing another shock from everyone, especially the white community. Our marriage was quickly fixed and i insisted for it to be done in Nigeria because of my family and friends which he accepted without hesitation. Damian’s mother, family members and friends arrived the country two days to our wedding. I had a very long talk with his mum and cousins who all tried to be nice to me even though the resentment on their faces were noticeable...click here to keep reading

Literature / Getting More Interesting(episode3): Jumai!..conflit Between True Love&true Life. by TOSINBROWN: 10:30am On Aug 19, 2016
Baban adjusted his tie as Dongo opened the door for him. He loved wearing a three piece suit and a tie. It was strange for people in his line of work to but he wasn’t like most people in his line of work. He was the next generation, he was the future. The future was here though, it was time to make things happen. Making things happen depended a lot on one man – Doctor Coker.
Baban paused in the reception and looked around. The building looked like any other chemical research lab he had ever seen. It wasn’t anything to pay attention to. What would come out of the building on the other hand would get everyone’s attention. Everything being equal. Making and keeping everything equal was easier said than done.
“Sir, Doctor Coker has been informed of your arrival. He is waiting in the laboratory.”
“We mustn’t keep the good doctor waiting.” Baban said.
He followed Dongo into the elevator and waited for him to punch the appropriate buttons.
“Did you do what I asked you to?” Baban asked.
“Yes sir. Everything has been arranged.”
Baban nodded.
The elevator door opened and he stepped into the long corridor. On either side of the corridor, chemists and whoever else Doctor Coker had hired were working. It was good they could not see through the glass on their end. They got to the end of the corridor and Dongo pushed a button by the door. Two seconds later, the door opened. Doctor Coker stood behind it, smiling like he had just seen an old friend.
“Welcome Professor…”
Baban raised his right hand and Coker stopped. “I’ve told you to call me Baban until this project is over.”
“Sorry Baban. You are welcome. I’m glad to have you here sir.”
“Hmhmm.” Baban said. “Dongo here told me he sent 15 million naira to you.”
“Yes sir, he did,”
“Are you happy with the money Doctor?” Baban asked.
“Yes sir, I am.”
