Hon. Olusegun Odebunmi (Bunvic), former Chairman of the House Committee on Information, National Orientation, Ethics, and Values in the 9th Assembly, has expressed deep appreciation following the confirmation of his appointment as the Chairman, Board of Ogun-Osun River Basin Development Authority by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Hon. Odebunmi, who previously served as a member of the House of Representatives in the 7th, 8th, and 9th Assembly, described the appointment as a great honor and pledged his unwavering commitment to advancing the Renewed Hope Agenda of the Tinubu-led administration. He emphasized the importance of sustainable water resource management and assured Nigerians that he would work diligently to contribute to national development.

“I sincerely thank His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu (GCFR) for this great opportunity and for entrusting me with this vital role. Issues around implications of drug abuse took the centre stage at a Media literacy and Advocacy Program organized by the chairman house of Representatives committee on information, National orientation ethics and values Hon.Segun Odebunmi, at Igbo Ile, Resources Center, Ogbomoso, Oyo State.

The program which was targeted at youths in Ogo-Oluwa and Surulere local government respectively drew participants from the National Drugs Law Enforcement Agency,NDLEA and other stakeholders.

Speaking at the event, Hon.Odebunmi, said the program was organized to sensitise selected youths on dangers of drug abuse and encourage them to be useful members of their societies.

The lawmaker, who was represented by his Special Adviser, Mr Maruf Ajibolu, noted that the youths being the backbone of any society, the drive to rid them of peddling and abusing illicit drugs has become necessary.

A consultant Psychiatrist, Dr.Adeola Oduyebo who noted that drug abuse was a social threat to the youth disclosed that it was high time all hands remained on deck to eradicate it.

Dr Oduyebo explained that use of Marijuana, Colorado,Tramadol,skunk and Skoochy among others caused physical and psychological side effects on the body.

An Officer of National Drug Law Enforcement Agency NDLEA, Ogbomoso, Mrs Bukola Adeoye maintained that the agency was jacking up its sensitization and enlightenment Programs on dangers of drug abuse .

Mrs.Adeoye also gave assurance that the agency would continue to be up and doing in the fight against all forms of drug abuse.

Two of the participants who spoke to Journalist described the program as an eye opener and pledged to make use of all they learnt.

The House of Representatives has passed for second reading of a Bill for an Act to establish federal polytechnic Ayede, Oyo state, to provide full time courses and other related matters.

Leading the debate on the general principles of the bill, the sponsor, Hon Olusegun Odebunmi, said although the establishment of the Polytechnic has been declared by President Muhammadu Buhari, a legal framework is of high importance going by the principle of separation of power in a Constitutional Democracy like Nigeria's.

Hon Odebunmi explained that the polytechnic will cover for the inadequacy to assimilate the teeming population of candidates seeking admission into higher institutions from states including but not limited to Oyo, Osun, Ogun, Ondo, Ekiti, Kwara and other neighbouring States and beyond.

The lawmaker, who is representing Ogo-Oluwa/Surulere Federal constituency and also chairman house committee on information, National Orientation ethics and values, stated that the Bill seeks to establish
a fund for the smooth administrative running of the Polytechnic, while the schedule lay down the guidelines for the proceedings of the Council meetings as applicable in the establishment Acts of other related Institutions in Nigeria.

He revealed a Joint Admission and Matriculation Board, statistics which indicates that candidates that applies for admission into Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, Ogbomoso annually since 2018 keeps increasing from about 38,000 to 52,000, adding that the school can only admit not more than 10,000.

Odebunmi observed that the Bill will bring a lot of benefits to admission-seeking youths, the immediate community, the State and the entire nation by

The lawmaker, added that it will also take care of the shortfall in the education sector,
provide a platform where trainers are getting trained and can stand shoulder high with their counterparts in other parts of Nigeria.

An astute grassroot politician and a seasoned businessman, Hon Adedokun Ganiyu Adesina (shyna crown) has congratulated Mr. Olaniyan Tunji Jabata on his appointment into the Board of National Broadcasting Commission. In a special goodwill message personally signed by him, Adedokun described Tunji's appointment as justified, earned and fitting considering his useful experience in media engagement, public service, party engagements and governance intervention.

He opined that today's headline ought to read: “New appointment given to the most qualified, deserving person,” with a large photograph of you. Family of the former Governor of Oyo state, Otunba Christopher Adebayo Alao Akala has released the funeral plans of the late Ogbomoso born politician and retired police chief

The Otun of the source died in Ogbomoso on 12th January at the age of 71.

The burial committee headed by Senator Brimmoh Yusuf appreciated all eminent personalities, dignitaries, political associates and friends who have paid condolence visits to the family during the moment of grief.

Hon Olusegun Odebunmi, Chairman House Committee on information National Orientation Ethics and Values has received the national leader of All Progressive Congress, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, who was on a condolence visit to the ancient city of Ogbomosho on the passing of the Soun of Ogbomosho, Ọba Jimoh Oladunni Oyewumi, Ajagungbade III and a former Governor of Oyo state, Otunba Christopher Alao-Akala.

He described both deaths as a huge loss to the yoruba race and Nigeria in general. He maintained that both will be greatly missed.

Tinubu was to later visit the family of Olubadan of Ibadanland, Late Oba Saliu Adetunji to commiserate with Ibadan and Oyo people on the passing of their well revered monarch.

"I’m here today to commiserate with the whole of Oyo state on the passing of two kings and my brother the former governor, Otunba Christopher Alao-Akala"

Earlier in his remarks, Asiwaju Tinubu admonished adherents and party faithfuls to take heart and be resolute at this trying moment. He recalled his strong relationship with the Soun of Ogbomoso and the Olubadan of Ibadan whom he described as strong pillars of support to the yourbaland.

He also lamented Governor Akala’s death at a time Oyo state require his vast experience, leadership acumen and political carriage to chant a new purposeful direction for the state.

Chairman House Committee on Information National Orientation Ethics and Values , representing Ogo Oluwa/Surulere Federal constituency, Hon Olusegun Odebunmi
has condemned in strong term the killing of Jimoh Isiaka and the subsequent attack on ogbomosho's palace during the protest in the town. He described both incidents as needless and avoidable. Segun Odebunmi (BUNVIC) who is also the chairman of Oyo state Caucus in the House of Representatives reteirated the people's Constitutional right to Assemble, peaceful protest, and freedom of speech. He described the police attack and use of fire arms on innocent protesters, who had been legitimately grieved by the excesses of some of their men who belongs to the now disbanded SARS as shameful and unprofessional. He charged the police hierarchy to commence an immediate investigation into the death of Jimoh Isiaka and others who have been confirmed to have lost their lifes in the crises, as well as several other extrajudicial killings across the country and ensure that the perpetrators are brought to book.

In his words, " to protest injustices is the foundation of all democracies. It is better to protest than accept injustices. Those who engage in non-violent direct action are not the creators of tension. They merely bring to the surface the hidden tension that is already alive".

Dokun also commisserated with Soun of Ogbomosho. Oba Oladunni Oyewunmi on the wanton destruction of the highly reverd palace of the monarch. He noted that while peaceful protests are allowed in all fledging democracies muggers, hoodlums and criminals must be prevented from taking advantage of any protest. " Kabiyesi is a symbol of peace and unity and has habitually identify with the youths in all their worries. The attack on his palace is a criminal action of some deranged youths who took advantage of the peaceful protests to unleash their nefarious intention"

He insisted that the incident must be thoroughly investigated by appropriate authorities in order to bring the perpetrators to book.[/b][b]

A man has chosen a most spectacular fashion to propose to his girlfriend by arranging with two of his friends to play the part of a hooker to create a scene at which he will bend the knee and propose to his girlfriend.

The video making the rounds on social media captured the moment as the two friends who played the part of the sex worker and also the other friend who acted as one of the persons he has offended in the past attacked the man and his girlfriend at Mauve 21 Events Center.
In the video, the lady attacked the man and his girlfriend while they were chilling at the club, claiming that he had sex with her and refused to pay.

The girlfriend tried to calm the situation as she pleaded with the sex worker and the other man to calm down so they can settle the issue amicably.
