I think he just wants the GK to pull his weight a little bit more, especially with our obvious struggles in defence.

For clarity, we do not have a GK crisis and Lammens isnt the reason why we lost at newly promoted Hull and couldnt dispatch that poor Everton side.

No matter how good a goalkeeper is, he still need good defenders in front of him. Raya is a good goalkeeper but he also get good cover from his defenders. The board must change the back line next season, Maguire, Fraudlot and Shaw must be replaced with better players.

My comment was simply that I'd have preferred Martinez over Lammens, since that could've kickstarted the backline overhaul the same way signing an experienced keeper did back in 2005 after all the goalie heartbreak ( Caroll, Howard etc.) I don't know how that turned into 'that's why we lost today' or 'that's our major issue.'

I expect some bots to start tagging me every time Martinez concedes a goal or makes a mistake.

This was how you carry De Gea matter for head until he left and United signed Onana that was suppose to help keep possession, then you disappeared when he started dropping stinkers every match. Tbh, Our goalkeeper looks average - the type that would only guarantee the barest minimum.

Hopefully Lammens would also improve and be ready to pull his weight more when we eventually sort out our issues

An all-round improvement is needed in that defence..Lammens inclusive.

Most of the saves he makes are the easy ones expected from the average goalkeeper out there.

He played a role in our CL qualification by virtue of him being significantly better than a pathetic onana, not necessarily because he was very good.

I remember R2 placement shots was his weakness last season too . It was so pronounced that someone here mentioned that his hands are short (i think it was Ellexy).

Being better than Onana wouldnt be enough in the long run

Carrick should try out Carl Darlow then, let see if he does better. I still believe Lammens is very good but him and the rest of the players need to improve...

Martinez might not be the answer but the current Lammens being an upgrade on Onana doesn't necessarily make him good enough.

Like I said earlier, I wouldnt dwell on the goalkeeper issue too much..atleast for now because I think there are bigger issues that need to be addressed

We have no issue with goalkeeping considering we still parade Maguire, Fraudlot and Shaw, Lammens has done fantastically well since he joined. Abi you don forget all the big saves he made for us under Carrick last season, a major reason we qualified for CL...

Carrick should grow some balls. Cunha should start on the left, with Rashford as a sub.

At CF, Sesko should start, with Mbeumo as an option from the bench. If Amad is injured, start Mbeumo ok the right and replace him with Lacey around the hour mark.

Bench Bruno in some games and try Santos, Mainoo, and Tielemans.

At LB, it should be Dorgu with Shaw as deputy.

Carrick is messing things up, and in no time, the pressure will pile up.
