Super Eagles Coach, Stephen Keshi, has denied applying to replace Herve Renard as Cote d’Ivoire manager, saying he is happy with managing the Nigerian team.

Keshi was reportedly listed by the Ivoirians as one of the coaches that have applied to replace the 2015 AFCON winning Renard, who resigned recently to take a job in his country, France.

Speaking through his manager, Emmanuel Addo, Keshi advised Nigerians to look for positives that would redefine the way forward for the national team, saying that after recently signing a two-year contract, he was determined to make the Super Eagles the best team in Africa.

President Muhammadu Buhari will depart Abuja for South Africa on Saturday, June 13, to attend the 25th African Union Summit in Johannesburg.

According to a statement by Femi Adesina, Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, President Buhari is scheduled to undertake his first continental assignment since taking office by chairing a meeting of the Peace and Security Committee of the African Union during the summit.

The President is also expected to hold bilateral talks with other African leaders on the sidelines of the summit to consolidate his ongoing drive to secure Nigeria and neighbouring countries from Boko Haram.

Executive Secretary of the Nigeria National Summit Group, NNSG, Mr Tony Uranta, yesterday, urged the Senate in the just inaugurated 8th Assembly to make passage of the Petroleum Industry Bill, PIB, one of its first priorities.

Mr Uranta, in a statement, called for the quick passage of PIB by the Senate, saying: “The PIB was introduced to the National Assembly since 2007.”
Uranta, who is also the Secretary General of United Niger Delta Energy Development Security Strategy, UNDEDSS, added: “It is disheartening that the PIB which sought to establish a legal, fiscal and regulatory framework for the petroleum industry was not given priority passage by the 7th Assembly.
“To sanitise the oil and gas sector and make it equitable and workable, curbing corruption by giving teeth to existing laws in the petroleum industry, the PIB should no longer be delayed.”
According to him, there was no justification for the past Assembly to have failed in passing a bill that would have put an end to the recurring crisis in the nation’s oil and gas sector.
Urging the Senate to remove the clause in the bill, interpreting host communities to mean the entire nation, he said: “There is no way the entire nation will be host community in the oil and gas sector. Every region has its endowments even in the mining sector. Host communities must be interpreted to be those producing the oil and gas in the country.”

Nollywood actor Femi Adebayo has put paid to rumours making the rounds that Funke Akindele was indeed responsible for the failure of his first marriage seven years ago.

In an interview with City People, the popular Yoruba actor and former lawyer explained that the marriage broke-up only due to the fact that his baby mama did not really like his profession.

In his words; ‘Funke had nothing to do with the marriage crash, the major reason my marriage broke-up was the fact that my baby mother does not really like my profession. Funke absolutely has nothing to do with this marriage problems. And I want people to get this clear.”

Femi added that his ex-wife sought for divorce after only two years of marriage.
In his words: ‘After about 2 years of separation, I think she couldn’t take it any longer, she filed the divorce about 4 years ago. She filed it at an area court in Ilorin where the marriage was celebrated. The marriage was dissolved and we had agreement on how to take care of the babies, how to have access to them and all that. She has the custody of the children and that is that. Under the principle of Islam which our marriage was celebrated, she should have the custody of the children.’
