Governor Simon Lalong of Plateau said his administration is succeeding in spite of challenges because of the prayers by people in the State.

Lalong made the remark at a Thanksgiving Mass and Bazaar of St. Monica’s Catholic Church, Rantiya, Jos, on Sunday.

The governor said prayers had guided his administration in restoring peace to the state.

“Even if we are not able to do any other thing, we will ensure that there is peace in Plateau so that people will go about their businesses peacefully. Investors will come and establish businesses, jobs would be created, there would also be more revenue and salaries will be paid when due”, he said.

Dr Kayode Fayemi, the Minister of Solid Minerals Development, who was Chairman at the bazaar, commended Lalong for his efforts in ensuring that people lived in peace.

Fayemi said that social and economic activities were tough in the country stressing that with fervent prayers Nigeria would overcome the challenges.

“Things may be tough but God had a purpose for us and we must give him an opportunity to fulfil the mission for the country”, he added.

Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue was represented at the bazaar by his Special Assistant on Religious Matters, Rev. Joseph Ogezi.

It was a double Wahala weekend for singer Oritsefemi who suffered at the hands of Quilox Bouncers, his management drop a press statement that claimed the 'Double Wahala' crooner started the fight with the bouncers because he was trying to defend another colleague, Sound Sultan who was also at the same period getting bounced out of the club, VIP section.

In a move that has rubbished the press release where Oritsefemi also claimed he lost jewelries worth, N8.5 million, Sound Sultan has denied playing any role in the Oritsefemi beating saga at Quilox night club, Lagos.

Celebrities are not pleased with the choice of nominations for this year's HEADIES awards. Singer Solid star took to social media to rant about the nominations, comparing what award organizers does to how the media almost ruined Donald Trump's chances of winning the USA election which he finally won against all odds.

An angry Solid Star wrote:

"Donald Trump won the US election against all odds, and we were all blinded by the lies, propaganda and hype of the media. The media even blinded themselves bringing out polls and predictions that The probability of Trump winning against Hillary with all his scandals was 30:70. But at the end he won and shamed everybody

This is the same issues we have in our entertainment industry in Africa, the media have succeeded in blinding the fans from what is real, pure and good, from what real talent and good music is about. They hype their family and friends and ignore the ones that don't text them good morning everyday and form fake friendship with them. I am not about the life of faking or acting a friend in your face and do otherwise behind your back that is why I have little or no friends in the industry cos even the artists are jealous of each other and they don't support real talents because they don't want to be exposed.
This is not directed to anybody or media house. It is a general issue that we all have to look into. Imagine an AWARD ceremony that calls itself credible, giving one artist an award and even made him make a video which was broadcasted on the screen at the award thanking them and later withdrawing the award to give to someone else. This shows the irregularities, partiality and mediocrity in the whole system.
An award organizers recently released a list and even though I was nominated I wasn't satisfied because the main category that would have meant a bit to me was missing on my nomination which is best raggae/dance hall. I can only pick one song out of the whole bunch that did a bit better than Wait refix ft Patoranking and Tiwa Savage for their year in view. No disrespect to any artist nominated or the organizers but somethings are just so wrong.
A lot of talented artists have been ignored for so long that they even start doubting themselves. Even the Grammys which is also not 100 percent credible have their flaws but try as much as possible to recognize real talent
These African Award organizers bring together some bunch of unqualified music critics and whatnot to set up the nomination list and that's where the problem starts from and it leads to artists fighting on social media over a category. My management sometimes force me to solicit for votes for awards am nominated for because it doesn't impress me at all and I DONT like awards. Most of these guys you have awarded ahead of me, met me in the industry and today they are no where to be found. I've been regular and consistent since the day I dropped my first single One In A Million ft 2face Idibia and I have never gone a year without dropping a popping meaningful song. At the end of the day the award plaques are just meaningless and useless cos them go burn or rust one day. And the whole ceremony and intentions of the organizers is to make money without regard to the artists that put in their best to their craft.
I have never been the type to speak out about issues like this. Just thought I should just free my mind small.

According to a post shared on the official and verified Facebook page of Nigeria Custom Service, it states that SEME generates over N994 Million in the month of october 2016.

The statement reads:

The Nigeria Customs Service Seme Area Command has generated N994, 813,647.06 (Nine Hundred and Ninety Four Million Eight Hundred and Thirteen Thousand, Six Hundred and Forty Seven Naira Six Kobo) for the month of October 2016. The Command also made 68 seizures with a Duty Paid Value of N35, 302,957.90 (Thirty Five Million Three Hundred and Two Thousand Nine Hundred and Fifty Seven Naira Ninety Kobo) The revenue generated for the month of October exceeded the amount generated in the corresponding year with over N60, 884,291.76.

The challenges that hampered the smooth collection of revenue in the month of October were:- The malfunctioning of the Electrical Control Cabinet and the Electricity Generating Plant of the Scanning Machine (which lasted for five (5) days), the new policy introduced by the Republic of Benin on movement of goods from the ports to their Bonded Terminals before been transferred to the park, the prevailing high exchange rate (CFA) and the dilapidated nature of the road diversion from the Republic of Benin has contributed immensely in slowing down economic activities at the border.

Commenting on the revenue figure, the Customs Area Controller the Command, Compt. Victor Dimka, disclosed that our determination to succeed all the time and at all cost is paying off, however he was quick to point out that there is room for improvement to surpass the amount generated.
Compt. Dimka noted that if the command must dare to be different and remain in total compliance as a change agent, the command must be ready to face criticism and public condemnation among many unpatriotic Nigerians. He said no amount of criticism, campaign of calumny and unprofessional publications of baseless and unverified news on the pages of newspapers against Seme will stop the Command from working strictly in compliance with the mandate of the Comptroller General of Customs. He re-stated that anything short of actualizing the mandate of the Service will not see the light of the day. He further stated that he will continue to spur his officers and men to put in their modest contribution to actualize the service mandate.

It could be recalled that on resumption of the Customs Area Controller in January 13th 2015, he disclosed that, officers and men of the Command must get it right and have a complete moral rebirth in discharging their statutory obligations. He re-iterated that the only way officers and men can complement the relentless effort of the Comptroller General of Customs is to maintain a high level of discipline, integrity and excellence while discharging their core functions of revenue generation, suppression of smuggling and facilitating legitimate trade.

Compt. Dimka re-stated that as a vanguard of change, he stands fulfilled because the major stakeholders in the Command are in compliance with the change policies and are adhering to the standard operational procedures of the Command. He added that it is only through compliance to guidelines and procedures that infractions are avoided and the service core mandate realized.

He cited an instance where members of a religious group who came for the annual worship of their deity almost took advantage of the occasion to smuggle rice into Nigeria, but were resisted by the Enforcement Unit of the Command. The Comptroller warned that no association or groups of people under any platform or guise are above the law. He told officers not to be intimidated by any unlawful union or gathering that will dare the might of constituted authority at the border.
