Nairaland General › Ghana Will Eventually Legalize Homosexuality – Rex Omar by TribesNG(op): 10:09pm On Jun 04, 2018 |
Source: ToriBazeGhana will have no choice than legalize homosexuality in the country in some years to come, veteran highlife musician, Rex Omar, has said. According to him, there are people who were born with hormonal imbalances resulting in their homosexual orientation, therefore, they cannot be blamed for their condition. Rex Omar further noted that the rights of homosexuals cannot be violated because they are humans who need to be respected. Speaking on Entertainment Capital on Accra100.5FM hosted by Bismarck Boachie (DJ Premier) on Saturday, 2 June, the “Da Da Di Da” hit singer said: “My take on homosexuality is this: People are homosexual by choice, they have decided to be homosexuals and that is their cup of tea. There are others who are also homosexual by nature, it is in their genes. “I am not one of the people who speak against them because even if in the whole-wide-world there are two people who are homosexual, they are also human beings and they have rights. So, I am not that person who talks down to them.” When asked if he will do songs for homosexuals, he said: “Why will they approach me for a song? For what? To promote homosexuality? I haven’t thought of that. “In Africa, we have cultural sensibilities and not all of us are very broad-minded to understand this issue. The broad-minded people know that the reasons some countries have legalized homosexuality are because there are people, who, by nature, are ‘Kojo Besia’, a description for someone who is a man but has female behavior. If you deliver a baby of that nature, will you throw it into the dustbin? “This is a very controversial issue but I believe that as time goes on we will get to a point where we will understand some of these things.” When asked whether he thinks in the near-future, despite Ghanaians’ aversion to homosexuality, in years to come, Ghana will legalize homosexuality, he said: “We will have no choice. Unlike prostitution, there is no one born to be a prostitute, it is a job of choice but these hormonal imbalances like the hermaphrodite, you can’t throw them away, so, why do we have to infringe on their rights?” http://ghana.toribaze.com/entertainment/ghana-will-eventually-legalize-homosexuality-rex-omar/Lalasticlala, Mynd44, MissyB3, Fynestboi

Source: ToriBazeIn a world where money rules everything, including romantic love and even marriage, it is difficult to find women who would pick love over money. Popular crime novelist, James Hardley James might have explained it all in one of his most successful novels, What’s Better than Money?
While many women would brazenly answer ‘nothing’, budding Nollywood actress, Amaechi Uloma Regina, certainly, would not join that bandwagon. The petite, dark beauty believes love should come before money. To her, money isn’t important, because wherever there’s no love all is lost. In a question and answer session with Potpourri, the Amaigbo Umuduruoha girl, Imo State, explains why love is her priority in any relationship. “When there is love, you will not even remember that there is no money, you will just be happy with yourself, you wont even care what he wants. I prefer love, love is a beautiful thing,it’s the greatest thing,” she said. “Even the Bible said the greatest of all gift is love. Love can do a lot of things in this life, but you give love to get love,” he added. Barely in her twenties, Regina has been in the industry for ten years and boldly told Potpourri that she has been lucky enough not to have experienced any sort of sexual harassment. “I know many young actresses complain about sexual harassment in the industry, but the honest truth is that I have never encountered such. When I hear of such complaints, my thinking is that, it can’t be true.” “The Nollywood I know since 2008 when I first appeared in my debut movie by OJ Productions where I played the role of Ini Edo’s sister is not like that. Maybe, I have been very lucky because every director and producer I have worked with were nice to me. They were like big uncles. I never even saw a trace of such barbarity” Amaechi Uloma Regina is a native of Amaigbo Umuduruoha , in Nwangele local government of Imo State. She has featured in many movies like ‘ My Sister’s Blood’, ‘The Last War’, The Mafians, Blessed Child, Perfect Machine and others. http://toribaze.com/naija-news/love-more-important-money-uloma-regina/Lalasticlala, Mynd44, MissyB3, Fynestboi

Source: ToriBazeNigeria captain John Obi Mikel admits his side have to improve quickly if they are to make an impact at the World Cup. The Super Eagles lost 2-1 to England in a friendly at Wembley on Saturday.
Arsenal’s Alex Iwobi pulled one back for the visitors after the interval, but Nigeria couldn’t find an equaliser despite their improved second half performance. Mikel knows Nigeria have to sharpen up in Russia if they to get through a tough group featuring Argentina, Iceland and Croatia.
“We are a very young team and we have to learn, it is good for this young team to have a taste of what we are going to face in Russia,” Mikel said.
“We have to learn together as a team, we have to improve and that is why we played this game against such a quality side.
“We can know where we are and now we go back to training and try and improve.”
Coach Gernot Rohr agreed with Mikel’s assessment that Nigeria have much to work on.
But the Nigeria boss blamed their slow start on fatigue caused by a difficult journey to England and rain that stopped them training the day before the match.
“The first lesson is we are not ready yet. We have to work much more in the two weeks before our first game,” the German said.
“We missed totally the first half but the preparation wasn’t good.
“We couldn’t train on Friday because of rain, the pitch wasn’t good. We arrived after a 10 hour flight, with many stops.
“In the first half our usual formation didn’t work. Some of our players weren’t fit and England put the pressure on us.
“This bad beginning was an opportunity to change and play a bit more like England in the second half. It was much better.
“Also we changed four players. Unfortunately we can’t change four players if there is a problem in the World Cup.” Meanwhile, former Chelsea midfielder Mikel saw enough from England to feel he can back Gareth Southgate’s team as potential World Cup winners.
“I think they have a very good chance of going all the way because the youthfulness and energy in this team… you can feel it,” he said.
“I think the pace in the team, you can feel it, and that is why we had some problems in the first half.
“In the second half we corrected some mistakes and played a lot better. I think the England team have a good chance.” http://toribaze.com/naija-news/nigeria-must-improve-before-world-cup-admits-mikel/Lalasticlala, Mynd44, MissyB3, Fynestboi

Source: ToriBazeEkiti police command has said the anti-riot policeman involved in the shooting at the gathering of bigwigs of All Progressives Congress (APC) on Friday was on illegal duty. Opeyemi Bamidele The policeman (name withheld) has been arrested along the politician who hired him from Lagos. Mr. Caleb Chukwuemeka, who released a preliminary report on the incident, said on Saturday that the mobile policemen was attached to 20 PMF, Ikeja, Lagos State where he was posted in bank guard duties somewhere in Ikeja. “The policeman came on illegal duty to Ekiti State ”A politician, who conspired and removed the said policeman from where he was posted by his Squadron Commander and came to Ado-Ekiti with him for an unofficial reasons has also been arrested. Policeman that shot Opeyemi Bamidele at Kayode Fayemi’s reception on illegal duty, arrested. “The police said findings had revealed that what happened was a case of accidental discharge on the part of a mobile police officer,’’ he said. He confirmed: “On Friday, 1st June, 2018 at about 1700 hours, the policeman accidentally shot Opeyemi Bamidele and one other, but he has been arrested.’’ ” The victims of his accidental discharge are currently responding to treatment at the hospital, while the injured policeman is equally responding to treatment in the protective custody”, the PPRO said. Meanwhile, the party has suspended its governorship campaigns scheduled to begin on Monday because of the incident. The shooting took place during a grand reception organized to welcome the party’s gubernatorial candidate, Dr. Kayode Fayemi, from Abuja at the party’s State secretariat in Ado Ekiti. Fayemi was a former governor of Ekiti and until his nomination as candidate, the minister of steel and solid minerals. The Chairman of the party, Chief Jide Awe, confirmed the postponement of the campaign. According to him, the suspension will continue until the police can guarantee the safety and security of the candidate and other members of the party. The party insisted that Friday’s shooting was an attempt to take the life of Dr. Kayode Fayemi , but narrowly missed the bullets which later hit a former member of House of Representatives and one of the APC senatorial aspirants, Mr. Opeyemi Bamidele. The party also demanded thorough investigation of the matter by the police while outcome of the reports must be made public. It also maintained its earlier stand that the state government was its major suspect. The state government has however dismissed as “baseless and unfounded”, the claim by the APC that it had a hand in the incident. Mr. Lere Olayinka, the Special Assistant on Public Communication and New Media to the governor, described what happened at the APC secretariat as “self-induced”. He said that dragging the state government into it was a cheap ploy to shift blame and dent the image of government.
