Image123: Lolz, I did not defend the economy but gave you what should otherwise be an obvious perspective. Bandying GDP figures around without remembering our situation is ignorant if not mischievous. There was a removal of subsidies, the biggest factor in the whole equation. Would you rather have a better GDP and debt like Argentina? 646.08 billion US dollars GDP, $14,362 (nominal) or $31,380 (PPP) with over $500 billion debt, you prefer that? You prefer 2014 when over two thirds of Nigerian states could not pay ordinary salaries and the coordinating minister of the economy was having headaches on national TV? When PMB was handing bail outs to states with nice GDP? We should somehow leave out the Oil prices that peaked (100+/barrel), the oil crash in 2015, the Recession in 2016, COVID-19 lockdowns, oil prices collapsed ($20/barrel) in 2020? We should leave out Russia-Ukraine war that spiked inflation globally in 2022, and the Subsidy removal + Naira float that every candidate promised and all analysts have been asking for for years until it was implemented in 2023? We should wish all these away and expect a steady rise? You must be living in Saturn or something. What a perspective built on emptiness of brains. No attribute of context specifics in your copy and paste work. Argentina you mentioned as a reference point is to a large extent, better than Nigeria in all indices of economic development apart from debt to GDP ratio which Argentina has theirs as 78% while Nigeria's debt to GDP ratio is 55%. Outside the above, Argentina is one of the G-20 economies, Argentina' HDI is very high, life expectancy is 77.5 Nigeria's life expectancy is 54.6, literacy level of Argentina is very high, ease of doing business very fantastic, low unemployment rate with a considerable quality of life. In all those listed above, what does Nigerian have? Can you imagine your country battling with 24.23 inflation rate? Do you know what it means for a country to be crowned with the title of POVERTY CAPITAL OF THE WORLD? Let's be pragmatic here, can you list any three positive indicators on the Nigeria's economy since 2015? Don't do your usual copy and paste work, reap up on data from IMF, World Bank. They are more reliable than your NBS. |

I'm a bonafide citizen of Nigeria but not a proud citizen going by the obvious socio-political and economic gangsterism that has been enthroned in the name of leadership. Image123: Because my conscience clearly knows that we're not earning or spending in dollars, dollars is just a global regulating unit. Per capita income means the average amount of money each person earns in a country or area in a year, that is if divided equal by population. In 2015, we were about 190million. Today, we're over 230million people. If you know a little bit of arithmetic, you will see that we're earning far more in naira. The very fact that your brains can't process past being paid to see reality is why you can't see clearly and smell the coffee. It gladdens the people in power that you'd repeat and rinse in 2027. In your state of naivety, you fail to have this little understanding that GDP per capita income is one of the quantitative indicators of economic development. Hence the need to ensure that the figures maintain a steady rise especially in a bastardized economy like yours. Any country with GDP per capita income that is below $4,000 is in a horrible condition, not to talk of yours that is below $1,000 and you are here displaying how daft you are both in critical thinking and common sense. Common sense should have let you know that heart-breaking economic conditions of this nature are not worth defending irrespective of your disposition or inclination with anyone (whether in or out of power). |
Business › Re: Nigeria's GDP Per Government From 1999 - 2024 by Trustyourself: 7:38pm On Apr 25, 2025 |
Image123: No be only GDP, na PDP. Argentina is doing better GDP and owing about $500billion. IMF recently bailed them with debt of $20billion. NOI was having headache and struggling to pay salary with some useless GDP badge in office. States were borrowing heavily and unable to pay salaries that Buhari had to bail them a couple of times. Today, companies are recording armed robber profits, states are getting more than double, reducing debts and not borrowing to do projects and "steal", and someone wants to be cursed with GDP.
Fun fact. $1640 X 500= 820,000naira. Dollar was less than 500 before subsidy removal but let's be very nice. $807 X 1500 =1,210,500 naira. Dollar is said to be 1,600 but let's be generous. Na you know why you agree for gaslight. Better convert to CNG. Can you see how naive and deceptive you are? Why multiplying per capita income which is valued in US$ with the same US$ rate? It's so glaring in your ugly face that the economy is in a terrible state and yet you are at one corner typing nonsense to deceive your gullible humans. Just because of the little hand-out party agents are giving you, your conscience disappeared. |

JAMO84: Once you stopped the insult, the killers will have no reason to kill.
It's easier for you, who claim to be civilised to stop unnecessary blabbering than to stop the miserable extremists.
And I think it's foolish for anyone to think we are fighting for God. I have seen people here who threatened to kill anyone who disrespect Oba of Benin. It's the institution he represents, not he himself. I don't expect you to understand because we Muslims don't insult Jesus the way you Christians do. Can you imagine yourself defending the barbaric killings you and your Muslim people are committing? Why juxtaposing Oba of Benin who is a human being like you and your Prophet Muhammad whom you claim is your God? Are they the same? Why is Boko Haram and other terrorist organizations killing people in the name of Allah? In this case, tell me why people will not criticise the barbaric and intolerant religion? If you claim your so called Prophet Muhammad is truly a God, then he should be strong enough to fight for himself just like other religions always leave their fights in the hands of their God to fight for them. Imagine a Muslim cleric saying that if you leave Islam, that you should be killed as a punishment. How does this sound to you as a global citizen? |
Politics › Re: ECOWAS Court Orders Nigeria To Amend Or Repeal Blasphemy Laws by Trustyourself: 8:29am On Apr 12, 2025 |
JAMO84: So, insulting prophet Mohammed is part of freedom of expression?
If there's one thing I hate about being a Muslim, it is Islam forbidding me from insulting Jesus. If we can insult Jesus like those filts insult Mohammed, there would have been no need to get physical.
Blasphemy will continue to be dangerous, whether you all like it or not. Even Jesus was crucified for blasphemy, but I guess most Christians don't even know that.
Just keep your miserable opinions about other people's religion to yourselves, and everyone will be fine. Why not leave your vengeance in the hands of your prophet Muhammad to fight for you? Why killing your fellow humans in the name of religion? If your prophet Muhammad feels insulted, he should be able to fight for himself. Or is he not a god to fight for himself? Stop killing your fellow humans in the name of defending your religion. It's barbaric, inhuman and evil. |
