Foreign AffairsIran Denies Targeting Saudi Aramco Oil Facilities (video) by Truthday(op): 9:13am On Mar 03
Saudi Arabia has shut down processing at its gigantic Ras Tanura installation, part of the world's largest oil port, after a reported Iranian drone attack inflicted serious damage. For the first time since the beginning of recent hostilities in the Gulf region, Iran has denied involvement.

Satellite imaging obtained on Monday by Vantor showed ongoing firefighting efforts at two large processing units at Ras Tanura. Bystander videos obtained by contractors and workers at the scene showed personnel evacuating the area and a blazing fire emanating from processing equipment.

High-resolution satellite images captured Monday by Vantor show the aftermath and damage caused by several strikes yesterday, by Iranian one-way attack drones, on the Saudi Aramco oil refinery in Ras Tanura, Saudi Arabia’s largest oil facility on the Persian Gulf.

In addition to its refineries and gigantic tank farms, Ras Tanura is also home to the world's largest offshore loading terminal. It has two piers extending from shore and a chain of three offshore loading platforms ("islands"wink capable of handling VLCCs. As tanker traffic into and out of the Strait of Hormuz is temporarily halted, activity levels at the terminal may be limited going forward regardless of events on land; at present, empty tankers are not entering the Arabian Gulf to load.

Though Iran is presently engaged in a campaign of retaliatory attacks against neighboring states, officials in Tehran have denied involvement in the Ras Tanura incident and have instead blamed Israel for an alleged "false flag" operation.

"Iran has announced frankly that it will target all American and Israeli interests, installation, and facilities in the region, and has attacked many of them so far, but Aramco facilities have not been among the targets of Iranian attacks so far," an Iranian military source told IRGC-linked outlet Tasnim.

Iran-backed Houthi rebels attacked the Ras Tanura complex in 2021-22 during their long war with Saudi forces, prompting temporary shutdowns. A direct Iranian strike on the refinery would be a significant escalation, as it could affect 550,000 bpd of capacity at a single site.

The impact on markets has been comparatively modest so far. Oil prices have risen about 10 percent since the strikes on Iran began - but financial analysts warn that any protracted shutdown of Arabian Gulf export cargoes could cause a significant spike, and $100 oil is within the realm of possibility once more. For energy companies in unaffected oil exporting nations - notably Russia, Brazil and the United States - the price spike will be a windfall. If sustained, it could breathe new life into the shale fields of Texas; if it were to extend long enough to impact a multi-year outlook, prices in that range would drive additional interest in offshore oil, which has long lead times and high budget commitments for initiating projects.

And that was a "freedom" That benefited Iranians??

Irony1:
Please hold on, first of all the Shah was still in power before Mossadegh was elected. What happened was under Mossadegh, the Shah's powers were limited to ceremonial just like the british monarchy when Mossadegh wanted to nationalise BP's assets(then called Anglo-Iranian oil company), the british with the help of CIA staged the coup to remove him and aallowed the Shah to have expanded powers under an authoritarian monarchy.
Foreign AffairsSaudi Arabia And Qatar Arrested Mossad Agents Planning Bombing (vid) by Truthday(op): 7:06am On Mar 03
US political commentator and journalist Tucker Carlson on Monday said Saudi Arabia and Qatar caught and "arrested Israeli Mossad agents planning bombings in those countries".

"Why would the Israelis be committing bombings in Gulf countries, which are also being attacked by Iran?" Carlson asked on his show, adding, "Aren't they on the same side?"

"Israel wants to hurt Iran, and Qatar, and UAE, and Saudi Arabia, and Bahrain, and Oman and Kuwait," he said.

Carlson, on his show, also said that Israel deliberately sows chaos among America's Arab allies.

In February, Israeli security officials detained Carlson and members of his team shortly after he interviewed Washington’s ambassador to Israel, Mike Huckabee.

In the interview, Huckabee stated that Jews have a “divine right” to colonise Palestinian land and denied Palestinian national identity.

The interview followed a public spat between the pair online after Carlson slammed Israel’s "shocking" treatment of Christians and accused Huckabee of failing to ensure protections for Christians who face attacks from Jewish settlers in the occupied West Bank and in Jerusalem.

In 2025, after he visited Palestinians refugees from Gaza in Qatar and accused Israel of murdering children, a pro-Israel advocacy group in the US named Carlson as its “Antisemite of the Year”, citing his opposition to Israel’s genocide in Gaza.

Ongoing US-Israeli attack
Carlson's latest comments come amid ongoing US and Israeli strikes on Iran, after the countries began a joint attack that killed Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, several other top officials and hundreds of civilians.

Around 150 girls were killed in a strike on a school in southern Iran on Saturday.

France, Germany and the UK said on Sunday that they stood ready to protect their interests and those of their Gulf allies and could take what they described as “defensive action” if required.

Iran has retaliated by hitting American bases in the region and shutting down trade routes for oil.

The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said it has targeted over 500 US and Israeli sites, using 700 drones and hundreds of missiles.

On Monday, an Iranian drone attack caused a "limited fire" at Saudi Arabia's Aramco oil refinery in Ras Tanura.

European gas prices soared almost 50 percent after Iranian strikes prompted Saudi Arabia to close its biggest oil refinery, and Qatar to halt the production of liquefied natural gas (LNG).

Due to the tension, insurance providers have cancelled war-risk coverage for ships in the Persian Gulf.

Several senior military and political figures have been killed by Israel and the US since the two countries began striking Iran on Saturday morning. Donald Trump said 48 leaders had been killed.

Iranian authorities acknowledged several of the fatalities, including Mohammad Pakpour, commander of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, Ali Shamkhani, secretary of Iran’s defence council, and Defence Minister Aziz Nasirzadeh.

US and Israeli bombing on Iran has continued, with President Donald Trump warning the "big wave" is yet to come.

Three U.S. service members have been killed and another five have been seriously wounded, in the first casualties of the unfolding U.S. operations against Iran, the U.S. military said on Sunday.

The casualties were announced on the second day of strikes by the U.S. and Israel against Iran, which have plunged the Middle East into a new, unpredictable conflict that has already led to the death of Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.

The U.S. military's Central Command said in a statement on Sunday that U.S. troops suffered additional, less serious injuries as well.

"Several others sustained minor shrapnel injuries and concussions - and are in the process of being returned to duty. Major combat operations continue and our response effort is ongoing," Central Command said in a statement on X.

It declined to offer specifics of how the U.S. forces were killed and wounded, but Iran's Revolutionary Guards have launched blistering rounds of drones and missiles at targets throughout the Middle East.

On Sunday morning, Iran said it had launched an attack on the Abraham Lincoln aircraft carrier with four ballistic missiles, state media reported. Central Command said the ship was not hit and that Iran's missiles didn't come close.

The U.S. deaths are the first combat-related fatalities suffered by the U.S. military in major operations ordered by President Donald Trump since he returned to office last year. The U.S. bombing of Iran's nuclear sites last June and the U.S. military's seizure of Venezuela's president in January led to no U.S. fatalities.

Trump had warned on Saturday that there could be U.S. casualties. "My administration has taken every possible step to minimize the risk to U.S. personnel in the region," he said.

"Even so, and I do not make this statement lightly, the Iranian regime seeks to kill. The lives of courageous American heroes may be lost, and we may have casualties. That often happens in war," Trump added.

At least 8 were killed in the latest Iranian missile strike targeting the illegal Israeli settlement of Beit Shemesh near al-Quds, according to ZAKA.

Israeli media said that more than 20 were also injured.

Israeli airstrikes hit Evin Prison in Tehran during the wider conflict, killing dozens and sparking human rights condemnation.

These military actions occurred at times when diplomatic channels were still active, disrupting peace efforts and contributing to escalations in mid-2025.

Major Escalation: 2026 Attacks During Renewed Negotiations

15. Renewed Negotiations in Early 2026

After the 2025 conflict and domestic unrest, Iran and the U.S. resumed talks in Geneva seeking a resolution. Oman mediators reported some progress, including offers by Iran to scale back enriched uranium stockpiles.

16. Operation “Epic Fury” – U.S. & Israel Strike Iran (Feb 28, 2026)

In February 2026, the United States and Israel launched wide-ranging military strikes across Iran (Operation Epic Fury), targeting cities and military sites — including reported damage inside Tehran — at a time when diplomacy was underway.

17. Impact on Diplomacy

Iran condemned the strikes as occurring during negotiations, calling them violations of international peace and urging the United Nations to act.

🇮🇷 Iran’s Notable Achievements Despite Pressure

Here are some successes and resilience indicators Iran has shown in this long period of tension:

Maintaining Sovereignty: Despite decades of pressure, sanctions, and military operations, Iran has remained an independent state with its governing system intact.

Regional Influence: Iran has maintained strategic influence in Iraq, Lebanon (via Hezbollah), Syria, and Yemen, shaping regional geopolitics.

Nuclear Negotiations: Iran repeatedly engaged in formal negotiations with multiple global powers, demonstrating a willingness to seek diplomatic paths toward reducing sanctions.

Domestic Adaptation to Sanctions: Iran developed local industries and economic workarounds to sustain certain sectors under long-term sanctions.

Israel strikes two schools in Iran, killing more than 80 people

State media says Israeli attack on girls’ school in the city of Minab in the south of the country kills dozens.

An Israeli strike has hit an elementary girls’ school in Minab, a city in the Hormozgan province of southern Iran, killing dozens of people, according to state media, as the immediate civilian cost from Israel and the United States’s huge bombardment of Iran comes into sharper focus.

Iran’s semiofficial Tasnim News Agency cited the Judiciary of Minab as saying that the death toll had risen to 85 after Saturday’s strike on the school.

Workers are continuing to clear wreckage from the site, where 63 others were injured on Saturday, said Iran’s state-run IRNA news agency. The strike is part of a wave of joint US-Israeli military attacks across Iran that has triggered an outbreak of regional violence.

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi shared a photo of the attack, which he said destroyed the girls’ school and killed “innocent children”.

“These crimes against the Iranian People will not go unanswered,” Araghchi wrote in a post on X.

Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei also slammed the “blatant crime” and urged action from the United Nations Security Council.

Separately, Iran’s Mehr news agency reported that at least two students were killed by another Israeli attack that hit a school east of the capital, Tehran.

Missiles struck a US-linked facility in Bahrain on Saturday amid escalating tensions in the region as Iran prepared for retaliation after a joint Israel-US attack.

Bahrain’s National Contact Center said the service center affiliated with the US Fifth Fleet came under a missile attack and that further details would be provided later, urging residents to follow official instructions and rely on verified sources.

Smoke was seen rising in the Juffair area, which hosts a US naval base.

In Qatar, a senior official said the country intercepted an Iranian missile using the Patriot defense system. Al Jazeera quoted a Defense Ministry source as saying that “an Iranian missile was intercepted using the Patriot system.”

The United Arab Emirates, meanwhile, announced a temporary and partial closure of its airspace as a precautionary measure, according to the Emirates News Agency (WAM).

Syria’s General Authority of Civil Aviation said southern air corridors would be closed for 12 hours starting at noon local time to ensure flight safety.

Kuwait’s civil aviation authority also announced the temporary closure of the country’s airspace.

The Jordanian army said its aircraft were conducting routine aerial patrols to safeguard the kingdom’s airspace.

Meanwhile, sirens sounded in several areas across Jordan, and the Interior Ministry issued guidance to citizens on how to respond to the alarms and what to do if foreign objects fall within the kingdom.

Israel launched an attack against Iran early Saturday under the name ‘Lion’s Roar,’ declaring a “special and immediate” state of emergency across the country.

US President Donald Trump later said the US also began “major combat operations” in Iran.

The history of Netanyahu's rhetoric on Iran's nuclear ambitions

Israel's Benjamin Netanyahu has warned of an imminent threat from an Iranian nuclear bomb for more than 30 years.

Published On 18 Jun 2025

For more than three decades, a familiar refrain has echoed from Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu: Iran is on the verge of developing nuclear weapons.

Since 1992, when Netanyahu addressed Israel's Knesset as an MP, he has consistently claimed that Tehran is only years away from acquiring a nuclear bomb. "Within three to five years, we can assume that Iran will become autonomous in its ability to develop and produce a nuclear bomb," he declared at the time. The prediction was later repeated in his 1995 book, Fighting Terrorism.

The sense of imminent threat has repeatedly shaped Netanyahu's engagement with United States officials. In 2002, he appeared before a US congressional committee, advocating for the invasion of Iraq and suggesting that both Iraq and Iran were racing to obtain nuclear weapons. The US-led invasion of Iraq followed soon after, but no weapons of mass destruction were found.

In 2009, a US State Department cable released by WikiLeaks revealed him telling members of Congress that Iran was just one or two years away from nuclear capability.

Three years later, at the United Nations General Assembly, Netanyahu famously brandished a cartoon drawing of a bomb to illustrate his claims that Iran was closer than ever to the nuclear threshold. "By next spring, at most by next summer … they will have finished the medium enrichment and move on to the final stage," he said in 2012.

Now, more than 30 years after his first warning, Israel has conducted attacks against Iran while Netanyahu maintains that the threat remains urgent. "If not stopped, Iran could produce a nuclear weapon in a very short time," he argued recently, suggesting the timeline could be months, even weeks.

These assertions persist despite statements from the US Director of National Intelligence earlier this year saying Iran was not building a nuclear weapon.

For Netanyahu, the message has scarcely changed in decades — a warning that appears to transcend shifting intelligence assessments and diplomatic developments.
