Properties / Re: Important Checks To Make Before Renting An Apartment by truthfulness(m): 7:08pm On Jul 12, 2016
carpenter:
The points are good but you may not find a house that would tick all the boxes. You take those that are very important to you and find a way to mitigate the rest. I give am example.

1. Problem: My house has those creeping water walls, the whole estate is like that but it is fairly safe.
Mitigation: I just use waterproof cement and repaint. Someone also suggested after using waterproof cement, I should use marine paint....I have not tried that yet. I have only repainted once in 5 years.

2. Problem:The water pipes are conduit and am sure they are leaking because my water tank will finish in a day if I leave it on.
Mitigation: I bought a standalone tank so I don't have to pump water all the time, also installed valves to ensure I can turn off the water flow through those pipes when I don't need it. For the kitchen, I have a big water bucket that we fetch water to, from the kitchen tap.

3. Problem: We have a security problem that borders around petty thieves especially when there is no one in the house and when there is no light.
Mitigation: Installed burglary proof and got a solar system, so security lights are always on.

I love the estate, I love the house. I am willing to spend a little to put it into a good shape and enjoy it as much as I can. I am careful about doing too much though e.g. breaking the walls to solve the water pipe problem; that is not my problem and my house maintenance budget will not cover that. I can walk around 2am if I feel like, buy eggs on a Sunday morning, bike, several ATMs available, fuel filling station, market, loads of supermarkets, Pharmacy, hospitals are about 1km away, fairly accessible roads, cheap rent compared to other places in the same area, Lovely neighbours ... and some places and services I don't patronize but might appeal to others...viewing centers, joints, trashy night club, Suya spot, fresh bread.

Is it in Abuja?
Properties / Re: Important Checks To Make Before Renting An Apartment by truthfulness(m): 9:52pm On Jul 11, 2016
I hardly comment on posts but I just had to say a few things. What the OP said is not bad but can only work in areas/states where houses are not in demand. I live in Abj and to get a comfortable apartment with decent price and still be asking for all these to be met, then you are not ready to secure the flat because before your next visit you will find sm1 new in the flat you intend getting.
You just have to pick the 3 most important ones to you from everything listed by OP.

The OP has spoken well..... Getting a job is a job itself. The OP mentioned that have you taken time to write down the companies you would like to work with? If you have done that then search about them, know the services they offer, how they do their business and know their core values. Then write to the company explaining how you can fit in and add to their already wonderful team. This goes well to the recruiter (hr) that this person is following them up. Also go to LinkedIn and you will also find jobs there.
For fresh grad, I will find time out to give you hint on how to get your first job. Try getting some skills that will assist you and improve your marketability.

hmmmmm nice outline.

but i think Nigerians are vulnerable that's why these politicians can tell them some kinda brouhaha and just get into office, i think we need to do more for ourselves more than just listening to these guys, we need to be more responsible for who and who we elect as leaders and also be willing to stand for the consequences of our vote as well.

i say that because i believe "of which i stand to be corrected though" that a good number of Nigerians voted the present ruling party and were happy when who they wanted got in, now with the present hike in fuel prices, dollar rate and the declining state of the economy these same people are no where to be found standing by their government......everybody is "badmouthing" them.

i think we need to take a deep breathe, think hard about what we want, think of how to achieve it, be convinced it is really what we want and be ready to stand by the consequences of our actions come rain come shine.

Spot on..

Same Same.

So you said you are a telecom Engineer based in abj right?

Hows the fuel affecting you and what do you think is the way forward for this country grin

Yep.......

The fuel is affecting everyone and its really not easy but i feel it is the right thing if our leaders will truly utilized our resources.

The way forward for this country is actually forward.

First of all we lack creditable statistical record in this country thereby we cannot take care and plan for her citizen.
Secondly, we need to address the issue raised in the national conference.
Finally, we need to change our orientation. Most of the elites uses the poor as their pawn to get to office and they have nothing to offer. How can someone hold a political office when he has no plans on how to use his office to create values?

Well i can go on and on but i will stop here.
