You see, while the position of VP is ceremonial and near useless (as long as the President is hale and hearty), it still remains a uniting factor for a nation as fragile and divided as Nigeria.

We have never been this religiously and ethnically divided as we are currently! Carrying both major divides along maintains that fragile balance! Disregarding the other out of your need to Garner votes will not augur well for all in the long run.

Obasanjo knew this in 1999... Yar'Adua took this into proper consideration later on...
