I have been a little bit curious about foreign turkeys and egg production. Does anyone have an idea if they mate and lay eggs? |
This is great! noeloge82: |
What an expose! Thank so much for these vital information from your experience! Currently, I'm having a similar issue with EKEDC. Did you know that my kilowatts rate was increased twice between May and August and I was being rated on 33kva on which I'm not? Even, my Estimated Bill has the name of a marketer I have never met yet, my bill keeps increasing! I wrote severally with evidences to the customer care but no action was taken. So, I had to copy NERC. I had already arranged for a prepaid metre to curb their criminal acts. Now no bill has been issued to me in September & October but the field guys who are agitated are now asking for my previous bill wanting me to pay on it. They are aware of these irregularities. A request I declined. Their plan now might be to disconnect my line. |
This is the sick one. Looks lame and is lean and also doesn't eat and drink much. It has been stampeded on but it has been separated from the rest. It now looks less agitated. It standing on it's legs now and appears to be showing me that it's strong-willed and will survive. So, I'm giving them all anti-coccidiossis+crd+antibiotics.

One of my birds is sick, looks lame and is lean and also doesn't eat and drink much. It has been stampeded on but it has been separated from the rest. So, I'm giving them all anti-coccidiossis+crd+antibiotics. It's 7weeks plus. |
Thanks for the concern |
Apologies I didn't give an update for a while. I haven't been around but glad to be here. Well, they clocked 7 weeks on Tuesday and unfortunately, one passed on I noticed it had emanciated and grew lean. Underneath one of it's wing was darkened as if there was no blood in it. I gave them all a mixture of antibiotics, anti-coccidiossis and multivitamins but it seemed it had been infected heavily as it grew weaker. So, the following day, I had to put it out of the misery. Population now 49. Yesterday, I noticed another one was not looking as strong as the others . On closer examination, I saw that it wasn't looking healthy, it was eating and drinking but was lacking stamina and couldn't struggle with others. So, I dashed to the vets and bought some anti-coccidiossis, anti-CRD ( some were acting as if their nasal were blocked) and antibiotics, measured a teaspoon each, added multivitamins and mixed all up with water. That's what they're drinking now. Here are pictures of a few at 7 weeks.

Cooling off in their lodge this evening.

Hatesin:Cockerel's food conversion is slower and they too can eat! You have to keep them for six months before they reach maturity and won't grow in weight. Feed them more and they grow more feathers instead of meat like Broiler. At this stage, cockerel will still be on starter feed and will look quite small. Here are pictures of matured cockerel I reared then from July 7 to December 2020. The stress ehn, can be killing and very aggressive with their beaks and nails !

Six weeks today since I ordered for them.

moneylam:Thanks. This evening, the cage was cleared after it was earlier done on Thursday. As they grow older, their consumption rate increases like Kilode? A bag I got for them on Thursday evening is almost exhausted save for a few to serve them as breakfast before dashing out to restock tomorrow. So if can can stock as many bags as possible to avoid emergency buying, do so if you have the means. Just an advice. A 25kg bag that used to sell for 4500 in January and rose to 5400 in May is now 6600 (t-fare included) but these broilers don't send you. Once they are hungry, you will hear them sing an endless sympathy tone unti you submit to their cries ![]() |
Hatesin:Okay. The broiler tastes better for me. |
Kilanee:Agrited |
Hatesin:Cockerel (not male broiler) is tougher than the broiler meat. |
OnyeObodo:LOL! You must be a member of the SARS (Special Anti-Rat Squad) . The pain induced by the poison was enough for me. What I did after was to kick out it's carcass into the street for birds of prey and cats to feed on. Thanks for the commendation! |
SLOVFO:As soon as they are good for my target market. I planned selling them off from week 7 to 8. |
SLOVFO:Thanks for the kind words. I haven't measured their weight really. I have lost two (due to an accident and that rat took one away.) Now left with 50. |
True. Not bad if you ask me. Thanks. |
Here is one of the Big Guys. This one can eat for Nairaland ![]()

Thanks. He's @izzymore. He has a thread here on NL. Aremolekunowo: |
I have decided to share a few pictures as they clocked 5 weeks today! Population:50
|
So this morning while checking around, I saw an unwanted neighbour who has been responsible for the disappearance of a few chicks in the past. But this time around, he was dead. He must have eaten the poison I bought for him. Good riddance to bad rubbish!
|
Time for photo ops
|
eddyline:After observing them, I discovered they are not 100% male after all! There are about three females among them but they could be more but not more than five I believe. Anyway, this does not affect my satisfaction of having many males staring at me every day ![]() |
Time for sorting! For equal access to feed and even growth, the selected bigger ones (in picture 1) were taken upstairs to give more room to the less aggressive feeding ones (in picture 2.) It's important to always monitor your chicks from their behaviour to food and water as well as general activities. This effort will give some level of inkling to nipping any issue which might arise in the bud. At two to three days interval, anti-coccidiossis or antibiotics is added to their water as a way of controlling infections. Tomorrow is Gumboro time!
|
Alhajiemeritus:They ate 3½ bags of Starter feed for 3 weeks plus before feeding them with Finisher. They are on the 2nd bag now and are so ravenous! |
Broilers now 4 weeks old.

Mindgames Scrabble Premier League division A side Airpop Alpha and Division B campaigners Airpop Falcons have unveiled their new kits engineered by SW 10. Airpop Alpha is competing against 11 other clubs in Division A while the all-female cast Airpop Falcons is challenging nine other teams in the second tier division. For a sport which is highly intellectual and known for developing the mind, unveiling SW 10 apparel as kit sponsor has showed a new trajectory in scrabble Championship. Adekoyejo Adegbesan who masterminded this innovation said unveiling SW10 as the teams' kit sponsor is a strategic way of motivating his players ahead of the MSPL Finale which resumes on September 17. "The unveiling of these teams is to really highlight the SW10 apparel sponsorship of the jersey. Others would be to give Airpoppers some mileage and the the MGI league."he said. The orange-coloured jersey with black tapering with "Airpopper" emblazoned on it has sparked a tingling buzz amongst scrabble buffs. A feel of the SW10 powered apparel revealed an exciting quality that matched a blend of flair and diversity which is the attribute that made the teams to stand out. Adegbesan emphasised that their strength going into the final round of games, lies in "the diversity, flair and having the best female players in the country." he continued, "members in the team represented Nigeria at the last world championships in Goa, Tunde Oduwole and Bukunmi Afolayan. Both are captains of the respective Airpopper teams." This distinct development has set Airpop Alpha and Airpop Falcons on a good stead for positive placement at the MSPL which takes a centre stage this weekend in Lagos.

It's the shavings not the dust. I was quite mindful of that. SLOVFO: |
