Excavation was the next item after the setting out and we dug trenches for the foundations for columns base and walls

For this particular project, the first operation involves the carrying out of setting out of the building.

Setting is the process of marking the exact position of a building on the ground before the actual construction starts. It involves the use of of builder's square, ropes, timber boards and other surveying instruments like the theodolite , total station etc.

My name is Bashir Sani Tsagero, a civil engineering consultant working on some of the blocks of Flats belonging to NIA at lokogoma district, Abuja.

The job consists of 3 bedroom of six flats per block and I was happened to be the consultant doing a supervision. The actual project consist of 15 blocks for the estate that sizes about 3 hectares of land. Apart from the buildings, there is infrastructural work which covers the roads, walkways, landscaping, site drainage, and sewage systems.
