I was scheduled for today and the officer called me last nite to remind me and told me to come very early. I did as he said and arrived the office at 7:55 am, by the time I got inside, he had already submitted my file and told the security guys to let me in....I sat and at exactly 10:40 am I was done capturing.

Most people who came through the DIY ROUTE were still at the first waiting area.


Anyways, just as someone once said here, if you want to go the DIY ROUTE, You must be a man of integrity and willing to express it and have patience.

I picked up my passport today. I know you may be thinking "how possible" well I paid for a fast track; it was supposed to come out on Monday, but the officer said they had a payment error problem with my file because of the DIY I started with...but I kept pressuring seeing it was looking as though it was changing from a fast track to normal processing...just went today and they made it ready.



I don't even know why I was this impatient, I'm not travelling anytime soon. But it' still feels good having the passport handy and with this growing insecurity. Japa fit dey needed at any moment.

So the payment is to jump queue to capture and fast track? If it is, just use the officer and please, ask for copies of the documents especially the ones he helped you with or since you have a better understanding of what's needed get them available and bring with you during capturing so you don't come and here stories that touch. Plus you know him using his bio data page means he is serving as your guarantor o. That's a risk I wouldn't take if I were the officer. Also yes, DIY is possible in Abuja from people's narration.

Funny enough it is not...the money is for him to be my guarantor and those little help he gave me.

I only made that Payment because I thought "the bio data page" was such a big deal and didn't want to start begging friends and relatives to use theirs.

Yes, it's possible. Don't act a gentleman when you go for capturing. I learnt that very late when I was tired of waiting. I just entered inside the capturing room. With that boldness sef, anyone would think I was Buhari's son.

I captured on the 14th July, below is my progress so far. Will go there after 3weeks to pick my passport.

Did my capturing yesterday at the NIS hqtrs Abj. Arrived 8am for 11am appointment. Captured almost 6pm. Never seen corruption in display so openly like that before. Let me just leave out the hurrible details for my sanity sake.

Having been waiting to read your report on how your capturing went. I am supposed to be a team DIY but as it stands I have also paid an officer making it a hybrid processing. I am scheduled for 21st, I however visited there last week Thursday to see how things are done and on getting there I decided to call one officer who I had initially wanted to use last year before learning I can DIY. He came and I showed him my appointment letter, he took me to a cyberscafe where they printed the evidence of payment (usually accessed from a code in your appointment letter), he asked for some of my other documents and I luckily had some of scanned and on my email, so I sent them to be printed

It was the "bio data" English that caused me to decide to give him money, I didn't want to start asking anybody to help me get their bio data, so I asked him to use his. This request coupled with that little help he rendered in printing my documents raised the need for money to exchange hands. I kukuma gave him 12k to assist me in getting approval and court stamping plus file opening.


It was when I came back in the evening that I saw someone explain what the "bio data page" meant as simply the page in the intl passport having the person's details. I could have easily asked someone for that.

My only annoyance is that the officer is saying he didn't charge me compared to what other officers charge in Abj office and is thus calling it a favour. It's all good.

I would really like to know if it is possible to go the DIY route in Abj without paying a dime to officers.
