Tom Harry received Ellinaz Ivanovo's mail when he was about to leave the hospital in Australia to get the scientist. The Minister did not reply her. He was driven to the Brisbane International Airport where he flew out in the Presidential jet. His thoughts swung between how close he had come to death and what Udi Daniel could possibly do to stop the monster from trampling down on the whole of Australia.

The forces had claimed that the monster suffered deep wounds and that it might never show up again, or might even have died from the wounds. He scorned the military forces for thinking that injuries would stop the monster from perpetuating future exploits.

What continued to perplex him, was why the monster was going after the Mystery Diamond. Was it the Spinasaurus that had guarded the diamond in the Coral Sea? Why did it have a striking appearance of the machines of Udi Daniel? Questions that needed immediatel response swept past his mind unanswered. The questions could only help him to arrange a few pieces of the mysteries.

He switched his thought to what Udi Daniel had said about being saved, and assigned to conquer the monster. The recent happenings made him to want to believe, that the scientist knew more. He dwelled on the fact that he had been the only survival of the crash, out of the over two hundred travelers onboard the Big Bird, it moved him to believe that something extraordinary was about Udi Daniel. As the presidential jet touched down on the runway of the Jacksons International Airport in Papua New Guinea, Tom Harry cleared the thoughts off from his mind. He got into a waiting Australian embassy SUV, and driven to the specialist hospital.

Udi Daniel recognized the Minister from a distance as he walked into the hall of the male ward in the hospital. The doctors had already discharged him after they had carried out another analysis on him. The scientist got up and walked towards the Minister, as he moved closer, he noticed that one of his hands was drawn to his body and it was not moving. He suspected an accident as the hand was in a cast, with a thick bandage.

"What happened to you?" Udi Daniel asked him.

"You must be a prophet of doom".

"I don't get it".

"Your prophecy has come to pass".

Tom Harry waved him to a corner where he supplied him some details of the state of things in Brisbane. The two men turned and headed out of the hospital. Once they had come outside Tom Harry resumed the narration of the viciousness and scale of attacks by the monster. He stressed the death of the Minister of Defence, and the manner in which he had died.

They walked in silence to where the embassy SUV was parked. Tom Harry joined the driver in the front and Udi Daniel sat directly behind the driver's seat. Once they were inside Tom Harry said, "Ellinaz replied to my mail, and she wants to hear from you badly". The Ninister brought his cellphone and punched some numbers on it and gave it to Udi Daniel as the phone rang.

"Hello!" Ellinaz Ivanovo answered sharply.
"It's me Udi Daniel". Ellinaz Ivanovo dropped the mug of tea in her hand and it shattered to pieces on the floor. "Hello, it's me".

"Oh my god!"

Other helicopters followed Adiam but the monster had lost them.

The result of the effort the military forces made in tracking the monster, got to Tom Harry in the hospital, and he became very worried. Bobby Roberts had just ended a phone call to check on him in the hospital. His right hand had begun hurting him again, it seemed like the painkillers had done the most they could do. The Minister startled the medical personnel by applying to leave the hospital for urgent national security reasons.

He had used the opportunity to let Bobby Roberts know about the prophecy of Udi Daniel. It was now obvious to the Prime Minister that the monster meant business. He could not but see that the story of the strange creature, was no longer mere tales of tortoises by the moonlight. The reality of the occurrences kept knocking him out.

Newspaper dailies had taken it to another level, by highlighting the ineffectiveness of the government to deal with the slippery monster.The turn out of tourists, continued dwindling significantly, since the previous appearance of the monster, in Queen Street. He was ready and willing to accept any kind of assistance offered to destroy the monster. When Tom Harry had told him about the offer of Udi Daniel to finish the monster, he did not think twice about it. He had readily made a private jet available for Tom Harry to fly to Papua New Guinea to bring the scientist to Brisbane.

Udi Daniel was running away from the monster barely three days ago, and now, he would be returning to Australia to take the "life" of one of his creatures. Tom Harry had no reservations about the true mental state of the scientist now, but how he would decimate the monster he had perhaps created, remained a puzzle.








Chapter Nine






Ellinaz Ivanovo had stopped going to NextTech office in the Washington DC, when it was confirmed to her by the Airline that the missing plane that had flown Udi Daniel from the Canberra Airport in Australia, had crashed in the Pacific Ocean close to an island, in Papua New Guinea. She was informed reliably that everyone onboard had died but that one of the passengers was yet to be confirmed dead. She had completely lost interest in living and was contemplating suicide, when she had received the mail sent by Tom Harry from Kairuru Island.

She put her suicide on hold while awaiting the call of Udi Daniel as Tom Harry had promised in the mail. She sincerely hoped that he was not lying about his survival. She could not imagine life without her god. She got impatient for the call to come from Udi Daniel and she fired a mail to Tom Harry, that she was coming to see Udi Daniel wherever.

The eyes of the Prime Minister popped out when he had seen the Minister of Defence bleeding copiously from his neck as he fell on the platform. Tom Harry's right hand fingers were chopped off by the razor edge of the monster's tail after it had slit the throat of the Defence Minister.

Tom Harry wriggled with pains on the platform, as blood dripped out from his hand. Five other men lay sprawled on the shore as an ambulance was driven in. The Minister for Mines and Petroleum was taken with the pieces of his fingers were taken into the ambulance, including the half-conscious Minister of Defence. The ambulance blared away with maximum speed. The Prime Minister had been lucky.

The ambulance sped through the streets with its siren blaring at its peak volume. It pulled abruptly to a halt in a nearby hospital, sending dust all over the premises. Energetic male nurses rushed out with rolling stretchers and Tom Harry and the Defence Minister were transferred into the hospital.

The Defence Minister was declared dead on arrival. The medical team swiftly got to work on Tom Harry, painkillers were pumped into his blood system and the pieces of his fingers were stitched to his right hand. The painkillers worked magic on him and he breathed normally for the first time since the incidence. He watched the doctors wrap his right palm with a bandage.

It happened so fast at the shore of the Coral Sea, he could not quite relate which one had happened first. He hoped that the Prime Minister was not hurt by the monster as he recalled what Udi Daniel had told him in the hospital in Port Moresby. He called to mind what Udi Daniel had said.

Australians had come very close to losing their Prime Minister. It was the height of effrontery to Tom Harry that, Adiam had to choose to come out of the sea when Bobby Roberts stood on the platform, to see the formation of the forces along the shoreline. Was the monster trying to prove a point? Tom Harry continued to think beneath the surface of his dying pain on the hospital bed.
His mind raced to the beaches along the Coral Sea. Ten fighter jets covered the sky above the sea in addition to seven military attack helicopters. They sighted the monster and followed it, as it moved like light along the Brisbane River towards the Walter/Taylor Suspension Bridge. It lost the shooters and bombers behind, and it came into view across the Indooroopilly Road, on the other side of the bridge.

Commotion ensued again, road users abandoned their vehicles on the road and joined pedestrians in fleeing from the bridge. The jets breezed past in hurt chase across the bridge. The monster heard sounds and spotted other bombers coming to trap it in the corner of the river, and it plunged into the water like a frog. The bombers flew past as the military attack helicopters hovered over the spot as if it was going to reappear from the spot.

Adiam came out of the river when the helicopters were gone and it skipped towards the compound of a residential building, along Melbourne Street. Screams and raucous race was triggered as it moved about swiftly and trapped a woman that was trying to run away with her kid daughter. Fear gripped the woman as she held her daughter firmly to her chest. She began backstepping from the monster as it came closer. She summoned courage and expressed no fear as she looked at the monster squarely in the face. It uncoiled its tail and it slowly extended it on the ground.

The woman took no note as she concentrated on the face of the monster. She only realized what was happening when the tail shot forth from behind and curved around her and her baby, like a gentle snake. The baby opened her mouth to scream but her mother shut her up with her palm. Adiam seemed to like her courage. It wove the tail around them and lifted them from the ground, close to its face. Adiam calmly asked, "Where is the diamond?" Afraid of telling lies, the woman pointed to a gigantic building that had the structure of a dome, and said, Its over there!"

Adiam did not hear the sound of the military attack helicopters coming to surround the building. It gently lowered the woman and her baby and uncoiled its tail. The shooters restrained from firing the monster with the woman and her kid. They watched in surprise as the monster dropped them unharmed. Adiam drew back its tail from the woman and her baby, and rains of bullets hit it from every direction. It turned to escape like a wounded lion. It flipped its tail side to side between helicopters as it vanished into the air, pulling down the propellers of two helicopters with a hard impact.

The government swung into action after the incidence that happened in Queen Street. It deployed the Navy to guard the stretch of the Coral Sea along the beaches. Heavy artilleries were positioned and manned by the Army on the the sea shore. The Airforce used hovercrafts to monitor the sea. It had been established that the monster dwelled in the sea and it would come out only in the night, however the sea was watched day and night.

The dust raised by Adiam on Queen Street never got settled, people increasingly became fearful. The government declared a state of emergency and extended the curfew over the whole of Queensland from the Coral Sea. Tom Harry had wanted to let Bobby Roberts know about what Udi Daniel had said about the return of the monster, but he let it pass when he heard the Minister of Defence assuring the Prime Minister of the readiness and capability of the forces to deal with the situation, he decided to let it slide. He had seen enough of the monster in action, to know that the forces were inferior to match it.
He did not exactly know how Udi Daniel would assist the government to crush the strange creature.

He still marveled over the miraculous way the scientist had survived the crash, and the manner he had recovered. He had heard that the flight data extracted from the Big Bird black box, revealed nothing was wrong with the plane, just as it was in the case of the cargo plane that caught fire while moving the Mystery Diamond from Brisbane to England. He tried to put the pieces together, but the puzzle got harder as he thought hard on it.

Bobby Roberts was overly concerned about the effect the prowling of the monter would have on the tourism business that turned in blocks of dollars into the economy. He decided to travel down from the capital to inspect the fortifications that the forces had built for Adiam on the coastline of the Coral Sea, in the company of Tom Harry and the Minister of Defence, and began to carry out inspection with a handful of journalists and other officials.

The inspection was still ongoing when it happened again, in broad day light. The giant monster burst the water open, near the platform that the Prime Minister stood on, with the other men. It swung its massive tail, before it disappeared into the beach in a flash, splashing water all over.

The forces followed it with fire as the attack helicopters rose from the ground into the beaches. The Naval officers released their machine gunboats and tore the sea water towards the Eastern side of the beach, where it headed. Some soldiers carried heavy guns as others rolled machine guns along the aroads that connected the beaches. The shoreline of the Coral Sea suddenly appeared like a battle ground.

Men ran helter-skelter for safety, but six men could not run. They were groaning with pains on the ground. The Prime Minister was whisked away in an armored vehicle. He had clearly seen the monster. The immense size of Adiam struck horror into him. He had stood shocked to his pants as Adiam blasted the waters open.

The Minister was sure now that Udi Daniel needed a deeper medical examination, as he walked out of the hospital to board a taxi to an airport, He concluded that if his situation did not improve by the time he would return to the hospital from Australia, he would arrange for him to be flown to the United States.

It still struck him with astonishment that no bone was broken in his body and his muscles did not rupture. Could the traditional healer have performed a magic on him, he continued to roll up thoughts in his mind as the plane he boarded flew into Queensland. All the passengers that sat by the window side on the right hand side of the plane, suddenly concentrated their gaze on what was happening in some parts of Brisbane, as the plane descended into the International Airport in the night. An electric arc shot into the air, resulting in an explosion of fire cracks. A cascading smoke from a building continued to rise in the atmosphere. Street lights switched off with a fashion all of a sudden.
As the passengers disembarked from the plane, loud noise and cries welcomed them. Tom Harry came out of the airport hurriedly to see what was going on. Vehicles collided on the road as people drove recklessly across junctions to run from whatever was causing the commotion. People ran in frenzy to different directions to safety.

Tom Harry could not get any of the runners to slow down to tell him what was going on. The madness suddenly stopped, but the city became a ghost place. People gathered in clusters and discussed what had just happened in an extremely low tones. Tom Harry walked close to a group that talked in whispers not far away, from the gate of the airport. He heard them talk about the monster and the diamond. He quietly withdrew and was driven to the Landmark Hotels close by.

Tom Harry checked into his hotel room and switched the TV ON and tuned to a local channel. It was there! The reporter was breaking the news with the headline:

"Armageddon in Brisbane!!!"

."A strange creature appeared from nowhere in Queen Street and scared everyone to death. It's a giant monster with a long tail, that moved with the speed of light. It entered a power substation after some group of persons had run into the station. The creature was heard when it loudly asked to know the location that the Mystery vDiamond was taken. It coiled its tail around ten persons and flung them out to the main road. Their heads smashed to pieces on the road, in their pool of blood".

"It moved into the control rooms and destroyed everything inside. It pushed a door open and wrapped some workers in the station with its tail and dragged them on the ground to Queen Street. Drivers abandoned their vehicles with passengers, and took to their heels on catching sight of the monster dragging about twenty five persons on the road. It disappeared from the road when it heard the sound of advancing military attack helicopters. But this was after it had slung the workers into the roof of a high rising building with its tail". The reporter was pushed to a corner as the image of Adiam appeared on the TV screen. She began to report a different story.

Tom Harry turned off the TV. He had come to Brisbane to hold a meeting with the executives of some mining companies but the happenings that had welcomed him forced him to put it on hold. For the first time, the Minister was swayed to believed that nothing was wrong with Udi Daniel. His prophecy was coming to pass. He planned to return to Port Moresby in the morning, but not before getting to know what measures the government had taken to stop the creature.

My goal is to keep it simple. My style is actually intentionall. Keep it simple and direct for readers, as much as the story appeals to them with a different onversation style.

So it's not shallow, it's just new to you, or not popular. It's my own creation, but if I keep getting concerns from my readers about my direct and simple conversation, who am I? I would change it for them.

Two men helped Udi Daniel down from the jetty into the boat. He turned around and saw Maria Ovi waving at him as the boat's engine came on. It baffled him how she could connect to a total stranger like that. He did not think she was only expressing her feelings over his survival. In some ways she appeared like the angel that had invited him to the Pacific Ocean. He did not think his meeting with Maria Ovi was a mere coincidence and ordinary, something could be more to it. He shook off the thought of becoming amorously joined to her in the future. When she had hugged him tightly in the hut, strange feelings had flushed through him, and he tried to force them back, but he ended up returning her strength.

Ellinaz Ivanovo was waiting for him in the US but he had got to reclaim his life by locking up the demon in Adiam, to be free from the manipulating influence of the powerful forces. When he promised Maria Ovi that he would see her again back in the hut, he did not exactly know how he would do so. He had said it to ease his exit. The speed boat finally got to the shore of the Kairuru Island and Udi Daniel was assisted to disembark.

They walked to the hall that housed the items recovered from the wreck and waited for the search team to congregate. Tom Harry sent a mail to Ellinaz Ivanovo in the hall before the other team arrived from the Pacific Ocean with a black box. He introduced Udi Daniel as the sole survivor of the tragedy and urged to leave the island to seek medical attention for him. They could not believe that he indeed had escaped from the disaster. Tom Harry left the hall with Udi Daniel.

"I really don't know why you're so bothered about getting a medical personnel to examine me", Udi Daniel said behind the Minister.

"You have not woken up from your dreams".

"As you can see, I'm perfectly okay".

"You don't want me to listen to you".

"I have a mission to pursue in Australia".

"What mission?'

"To save Australia"

"I said it, your mental health is affected".

"You wouldn't understand now".

"Keep your lips sealed until a thorough professional medical investigation is done on you".

"I must regain my freedom now!"

"You're not a prisoner".

Tom Harry led Udi Daniel to the field where the helicopter that brought him waited. Udi Daniel climbed unaided behind him into the flying machine. The pilot got off from the ground and changed course in the air.

Maria Ovi had followed them from a distance and watched the helicopter as it disappeared into the expanse, towards East Sepik. She couldn't place where the intense feeling of care that she had shown to the stranger came from. She had not felt anything for the opposite sex until she had met this man. It was beyond her. She returned home feeling a part of her, just departed. It was crazy to her. She sincerely hoped the stranger would come to Kairuru Island again. She did not even ask for his name.

Udi Daniel made attempts to talk to Tom Harry over the noise in the helicopter, but the Minister would shut him down each time. A portion of the Pacific Ocean reawakened the thought of the monster as the helicopter flew over it. Udi Daniel got agitated in his spirit and Tom Harry could see and feel his restlessness. He tried to calm him down as the helicopter lowered to the field of a specialist hospital in Port Moresby.

The doctors examined him thoroughly and found that no part of his body was affected. No physical injury to his bones and muscles. They could not fathom it medically, for someone that had survived a plane crash in which every other passenger onboard had died. No damage was done to his brain either, it functioned well and the result of his psychoanalysis showed that he was perfectly normal. The medical personnel assured Tom Harry that nothing was wrong with him and that he needed only rest.

However, he was admitted in the hospital, to stay to overnight for the doctors to watch him for the signs that the Minister had complained about, as they were flying from the Kairuru Island. Tom Harry was going to leave his bed side for Australia, when Udi Daniel shuffled his feet on the floor to grab his attention.

"I need to be on the phone with Ellinaz", Udi Daniel said.

"Don't bother yourself now".

"I'm fine, didn't you get it from the doctors?"

"I have already sent a mail to her, so cool it down!"

"Nothing is wrong with me, just give me the phone".

"You will get it tommorow after you have been given a clean bill of health", Tom Harry said and turned around to walk away.

"Has the monster showed up again in Australia?" Udi Daniel asked him.

"No Daniel; stop worrying about it, especially now, the Australian government would deal with it if it ever reared up".

"It's coming again, and it would be more vicious in looking for the diamond. People will be killed, a lot of places will be destroyed, and the government would be powerless to handle it".

"How did you know this? Have you become a prophet too?"

"It was revealed to me in the plane before it crashed, and it's for this reason, that I was saved, to bind the demon and set Australia free".

They flew into the island with six helicopters. Maria Ovi was on the island when the helicopters hovered above a playground and landed. She had come from the fishing port to prepare a meal for Udi Daniel. He had recovered to the extent that he could now sit upright without any help. He desired to reach Ellinaz Ivanovo through a phone call by all means, but Maria Ovi had consistently told him he would have to recover more of himself to come to the Island to make contacts. He had had another dream involving Adiam.

He stood up from the wooden chair and made some steps forward and backward in the hut. He hoped to impress on Maria Ovi, that he had recovered enough to move from the fishing port. Each time he broached up the subject of leaving the port, she would talk him down, It angered him, but he tried to maintain his cool. She had been a great nurse and he would not like to give her the impression that he was unappreciative. He felt renewed and strong from the inside.

Maria Ovi got ready and moved to the waterside to go back to the fishing port. She got into her canoe and began to paddle towards the fishing port. When she had pulled close to the port, a speed boat sped past, she saw the visitors inside, heading towards the fishing port, to where the Big Bird had come down in the Pacific Ocean.

Udi Daniel came out of the mud house to look around. He admired the setting of the coastline and the waterlines of sea vessels from view to view. He saw Maria Ovi not too far away. He waved at her and she smiled broadly. He somehow envied the simple lifestyle of the girl. She finally came on the fishing port through a jetty to see Udi Daniel feeling the fishing nets spread out in the sun around the hut. She was truly happy for him. She poked a fun at him from behind.

"Are you considering becoming a fisherman here in Kairuru?

She said it with a serious face and Udi Daniel could not help it, he nearly tripped with laughter. "I will gladly make the fishing materials available", she added.

Udi Daniel loosened up to her like never before, as the boat that carried Tom Harry pulled up at the jetty of the fishing port. She made light of the whole situation in her naivety. He had realized that Maria Ovi was a unique girl. He owed her and her father for the hospitality shown to him. She spotted a boat at the jetty and drew Udi Daniel's attention to it. She could identify only the rider of the boat; the other men were not fishermen.

"It seems like they have come for you", Maria Ovi said as she entered the hut to drop her load.

Udi Daniel fixed his eyes on the men as they climbed into the jetty. The last person that stepped from the boat looked familiar to him. As they got closer, he stood up and to recognize Tom Harry. Tom Harry didn't recognize him until he was very close. Udi Daniel looked emaciated and unkempt in his appearance. He not changed his clothes since the crash nor had he taken his bath. The two men locked themselves up in an affectionate embrace, as soon as Tom Harry recognized him.

Maria Ovi came out of the hut to see the two men shed tears on each other's shoulder. She caught the fever too and tears began streaming down her cheek. When they finally freed themselves, Tom Harry gently held him and took him to a corner of the hut, where they had a brief conversation. Maria Ovi heard all that they had talked about. Udi Daniel came into the hut to tell her that he would be leaving with Tom Harry. He touched Maria Ovi for the first time as her tears would not stop driipping from her eyes.

"Aren't you going to wait for my father to return from fishing?" She asked through her tears".

"But I've not said that I'm leaving".

"I can see it in your eyes and I've heard it with my ears".

Udi Daniel held her and tried to dub her eyes with a handkerchief.

"Please stop the tears Maria. I can't express my gratitude to you and your father enough. I must go now to keep things under control and relax the nerves of my loved ones who are in limbo over my existence. I will see you again, I promise".

Maria Ovi freed herself from his grasp and hugged him as if the world was leaving the two of them behind. The voice of Tom Harry cut the connection between them and they reluctantly pulled away. She made Udi Daniel to take the food that she had prepared before leaving the fishing port.

As Udi Daniel was leaving the hut, Maria Ovi said, "Remember your promise, I'll be waiting for you".

Tom Harry and the other men waited for Udi Daniel outside the hut. They were struck with surprise to see the shape he was in, just two days after surviving a plane crash that killed nearly everyone onboard.

Chapter Eight






Ellinaz Ivanovo had waited out the arrival time of the flight of Udi Daniel to Washington DC with fervor, from Australia. She had looked at her wristwatch every passing minute as she drove out of the Baltimore/Washington International Airport. She had connected to the Airline in Australia and discovered that the plane had gone off radar and disconnected from ground radio stations and satellites.at the fifth hour, after it had taken off from Canberra. She had contacted Tom Harry who had said the government of Australia was aware of the situation and was investigating the missing plane.

Ellinaz Ivanovo didn't believe in God but she prayed for the first time in her life to no particular God. She hoped that nothing untoward had happened to the plane. She had taken NextTech to a whole new level in every front. The demand for the excavants had skyrocketed and she had plans already to incorporate the production of the humarines in Mass scale. She had watched the live coverage of the display of the humarines near the Pacific Ocean in Australia in the internet.

She had penciled down other tasks that the humarines could be needed to perform in the water. She was prepared and poised to make NextTech rule the world of technologies. The dollars were rolling into billions and great ideas wouldn't cease coming. Udi Daniel and Ellinaz Ivanovo had given the business aspect of their life a higher priority than anything else, but right now, all the achievement so far would count to nothing for her if Udi Daniel didn't return safely to the US. Her interest in business had suddenly dropped at the thought of losing him, and she realized her little a time they had spent together. She wouldn't let the scientist go again from her sight, if he made it to the United States. He was her god and science was her religion.

The Australian Civil Aviation worked tirelessly with the Airline officials to search thoroughly for the missing plane. The search was still on, when the Australian Department of Information received a mail from Port Moresby, in Papua New Guinea, about the location of a crashed plane. The search team and some government officials set out for East Sepik in Papua New Guinea immediately, to confirm the crash in the Island.

Tom Harry was among the officials that were sent by the Australian government, to Kairuru Island. He prayed and hoped that the plane wasn't the one that had lifted passengers including Udi Daniel from Canberra, heading to the United States. One of the men in the search team that worked for the Airline had flashed a ray of hope at the Minister when he said their planes didn't fly over the airspace of Papua New Guinea to the United States.

Instantly, tears welled up in his eyes and he wept bitterly. Maria Ovi tried to empathize with him. She rubbed his forehead with another concoction as she whispered consoling words into his ears. His memories came to him in a rush and he connected everything together. He now knew the dreams and the trances were notjust mere once. A demon in Adiam was seeking him for recovering the diamond, and other higher forces had killed everybody onboard the plane to send him back to Australia, to lock the demon up in exchange for freedom to life.

"For how long have I been here?" Udi Daniel asked.

"The crash happened yesterday. Your recovery has been miraculous", Maria Ovi said. "You have to consider your health above whatever you might have lost. Stop worrying about the crash and relax your mind".

Udi Daniel shook his head and said, "You won't understand, I am set for a mission, and I'm ready to go now!"

"You're not going anywhere. Not now. What's pushing you?"

Regret and bitterness crept on his face as he said, "I am a victim of my own creation, I must go back to Australia to find Adiam and separate the demon".

Maria Ovi was lost. She didn't know what he was talking about. She presumed that he still suffered from the shock of the crash psychiatrically. Udi Daniel remembered Ellinaz Ivanovo in the US and all the expectations, but his priority had changed. Udi Daniel experienced a rush of energy into him, and he suddenly pulled up his knees to sit upright on a wooden chair. Maria Ovi dashed forward to support him as he insisted on sitting. She made him to rest his back against the wall.

"Take it easy with yourself", Maria Ovi said.

"I'm doing fine Maria".

"I can see that, but take it easy".

"I created Adiam and I can fix its mess", Udi Daniel said absent-mindedly.

"What are you talking about?"

"You wouldn't understand".

"Try to make me understand".

"Maria is better not mentioned to keep your sanity".

"What do you mean? Is it only an insane mind that can understand it?"

"Yes, you're correct".

"So are you insane?"

"Yes I am".

"Is that why you screamed from your sleep?"

"Correct, Maria".

"You're behaving strange".

"I know".

"Where was your plane flying to?"

"Australia to the United States".

"The provincial government would get a word out there for the US government to come for you".

"No, I can get out of the island with a phone call, and I'm going back to Australia".

"Fine, in that case I'll arrange that for you when you're strong enough".

"I'm strong enough already to leave".

"No you're not!"

The traditional healer got back from fishing and heard voices inside the hut. He quickly came in and found Udi Daniel sitting upright on a wooden chair with his back against the mud wall, in deep conversation with his daughter. His face glowed with joy and he knelt down again to say things that had no meaning to Udi Daniel. Maria Ovi laughed when she saw the expression on the face of Udi Daniel.

"My father is thanking God for you, for sending you from the land of the dead back to the land of the living".

Mary Greenwood and Michael Bending walked straight to the end of the FBI office where the eavesdropping devices receiver installed in the house of Rod Jimmy, had just given off a crack sound. They could hear footsteps coming from the other end. They knew that he had come home. Michael Bending ensured that the receiving system was recording. Rod Jimmy punched a number on his cell phone to make a phone call.

"Hello, I am home now".

"Did the car follow you today?" The person at the other end asked as Mary Greenwood and Michael Bending looked at each other satisfactorily.

"No car followed me".

"I told you that it was a mere coincidence".

"I was really scared, I was messing with the thouit that the FBI was tracking me".

"It's not possible".

"I wasn't thinking clearly".

"Rito Birdman escaped from the FBI".

"I haven't heard that part".

"You know now".

"Thank you".

"It's alright".

Rod Jimmy ended the call and breathed a sigh of relief. A major cover had just been blown open. Michael Bending had traced the call as it routed down to Mexico with another system attached to the eavesdropping devices, and extracted the subscribers identity line. Mary Greenwood had come to know that there was another link to Rito Birdman and she would have to pin him down. She felt like a heavy load just fell off her shoulder. She smiled and turned to Michael Bending in the office.

"Mike!"

"Yeah".

"You must leave for Mexico at once to interface with the federales, to uncover the other end".
"Roger that".

"Let them know how crucial this is to the FBI and the American government".

"Copy that", Michael Bending said and left to travel to Mexico.

Oscar Averes hadn't been himself since Rod Jimmy had told him he no longer wanted the operation to terminate Adaz Obot. He would have to try other means to get an American spy for Al Ja'amah. He had just returned home from distributing substances to clients in Puebla, when Rod Jimmy called him. He just received a reminder of the deadline set to deploy the bombs in their possession into the United States, from Dr. Omar Bin Lahmir. He walked to the back of his appartment and sat on the top of a tank and lit up a cigarette to meditate.

The following day Mary Greenwood and Michael Bending stood some distance away from the gate of the guest quarter, to watch him come out. He was on time as usual to resume duty in Netfluz. Mary Greenwood and Michael Bending moved into the estate of bungalows to find the address to his house. She had gone to Netfluz to extract the address after he had lost them. It did not take long before they located the house inside the quarter.

Michael Bending went round the bungalow to find where he could sneak into the house, to install eavesdropping devices. He finally penetrated through a window after he had removed the louvres neatly. He was rounding off with the installations in strategic places in the house, when he saw a desktop computer in the corner of the house. He moved to power on the computer to copy the content of the hard disk and extract the Internet protocol address. He looked at his wristwatch and realized that he had been in the house for nearly half an hour. He had to go now. He moved briskly to the window through which he had come in. As he tried to come outside, a car pulled up at Rod Jimmy's garage. He left through the window hurriedly to see who just drove in.

He raised his head to look in the direction where Mary Greenwood had been waiting before he had slipped into the house and didn't see her. She appeared from the front of the house and his nerves calmed down. She had gone to drive the unofficial FBI vehicle in. He returned to fix the louvres that he had taken down. He made sure everything was intact and joined her. The two agents got into the car and drove off. Mary Greenwood spoke out first in the car.

"Did you find anything of interest in there?"

"I have the content of the files in a desktop computer".

"Very well, I need you to sift for any connection to Rito Birdman".

"Roger that".

They returned to the Central Intelligence Until and Mary Greenwood found a note requesting urgent update on the Prisca Bender's case. It was very obvious that someone high up in the corridor of power was pushing it. She sat thoughtfully and sent her report. She maintained that Rito Birdman might not be the prime suspect for the murder of Prisca Bender, but a key to knowing how her body had disappeared. She would never slow down on the chase to pin down the hitman. She had tracked down criminals that were more slippery with much darker backgrounds and smoked them out of their holes.

Maria Ovi unwrapped the parcel that contained the food and crouched near Udi Daniel on the mat. She began to feed him with a locally made spoon. He gulped down whatever the girl put in his mouth. He was obviously very hungry. The healer liked it,, he believed the food would give him the strength to move his muscles. He looked into a bag and brought out a concoction inside a calabash and instructed his daughter to give it to him after he had finished eating. The old man left the two of them in the hut to check his fishing nets.

Udi Daniel fell asleep almost at once, after Maria Ovi had given him the concoction. The dreams returned again and this time there was no angel but Adiam. Adiam popped out of the Pacific Ocean and chased him in his car into the city center in Brisbane. The monster caught up with him and coiled the car with his long tail and sent it flying into a playground, where children gathered. The kids scattered and scampered to safety as the car landed on the ground. It exploded into flames after Udi Daniel had managed to limp off to take cover.

Adiam followed the car into the playground and didn't see Udi Daniel but children scurrying to different directions. The monster furiously skipped about and trapped a woman who was running with two of her children, one on her right and the other on her left hand side. She was shocked to her spirit as her kids shrieked in dread. She couldn't move a muscle. Adiam thundered the question,

"Where's Udi Daniel?"

She was too frightful to say anything but shook her head as a sign of, "I don't know". The monster used its tail to wrap the woman and pulled her up close to his face and yanked her head off. The gory experience threw Udi Daniel from the dream to wakefulness with screams. Maria Ovi got up from where she was sitting to check him as she heard the screams. Udi Daniel shifted on the mat as Maria Ovi rushed into the hut.

"Where am I?" Udi Daniel asked again.

"I have answered your question before. You were rescued from a plane crash in the Pacific Ocean, and you are in a hut on the Kairuru Island in Papua New Guinea".

She could see that Udi Daniel was speedily regaining his health. His voice was coming out strong and he had begun to move his hands and legs slowly. He made an effort to prop his head on a fold of clothing used as a pillow and Maria Ovi rose to help him. She smiled broadly at the lucky man and at the same time felt pity for him with misty eyes. Udi Daniel warmed up to her.

"What's your name?"

"Maria Ovi!"

"Beautiful name, I like the sound".

"Thank you".

"Where are the other passengers onboard the plane?"

"You're the only survivor, I've told you about it before. Their bodies are in a morgue on the island".

All of a sudden, he twisted the steering to slue his car onto a narrow road that opened into the six-lane road in Western District, and dashed the car unto the third lane, causing vehicles to screech, collide and stop on the road. Michael Bending followed him; he diverted onto the narrow road and came out to see the six-lane road. Rod Jimmy had lost them and had mixed into the mass of cars surging forward on the left side, and backward on the right side.

"Wow! Rod Jimmy like James Bond!!" Mary
Greenwood said aloud.

She directed Michael Bending to turn the car around to face Netfluz. The suspect had displayed interesting tendencies and she liked it. She could still see the commotion that he had caused on the road, where he had mixed up with other cars. Some road officials were pulling wrecks of vehicles that had collided on the road as they faced the way to Netfluz.

Rod Jimmy sped through the gate of Netfluz guest quarter to the astonishment of the gate keepers. He swerved into a corner and into his bungalow. He applied the brake even as the car was still maintaining a high speed. He abruptly pulled up in his garage, causing a screak. He popped out of the car and sneaked into his house, breathing heavily and searching his head for who could be behind this. The only thing that came to his mind was the operation to eliminate Adaz Obot. He hadn't been seeing the young engineer around and he assumed he must have fallen, but at the same time he was a little confused, since no death had been reported in Netfluz.

He smartly moved to the window side of his bungalow overlooking the gate of the estate, to see if a strange car would pass. Oscar Averes had promised to get him update about the operation but hadn't, he decided to hear from him. It occurred to him that he had not removed his bag from his car. His phone and laptop were there. He ran outside to grab and dashed in. He moved to the window side again and dialed Oscar Averes.

"Hey Jimmy!" Oscat Averes said.

"What's going on?"

"I was going to call you".

"I've been waiting!

"Something happened?"

"What's it?"

"The operation was aborted by the FBI and Rito Birdman is at large".

"Damn!"

"I've not heard personally from the hitman".

"How did you know this?"

"It was the leader of Al Ja'amah in Iraq that told me".
"I'm worried".

"Over what?"

"I was followed today, and I am beginning to think someone is on my trail".

"Why are you worried?"

"It might be over the failed operation".

"It's not possible".

"Why?"

"It's one out of a million chances for anyone to know that you were involved".

"Who could be behind this?"

"It might be a coincidence".

"I doubt it".

"You know what?"

"Tell me".

"Watch it, if the incidence plays out again, you have a genuine reason to be worried".

"Ok".

"I'm going to improvise to get the target down for you".

"That's no longer important to me".

"Why?"

"Adaz Obot has left Netfluz".

"I'll talk to you again".

"Alright", Rod Jimmy said and exhaled.

In the mid morning of the next day, Udi Daniel opened his eyes slowly while lying on a mat inside a mud house. His eyes opened heavily with pains as he tried to figure out where he was in his half conscious state. He knew that this was reality. He stared at the ceiling made with old cane mats, that covered the thatched roof of the chilly mud house. He rolled his eyes around and couldn't find anyone. His mouth opened to call but no sound came out. He strained his ears to listen to a voice outside the hut, but couldn't hear anything distinct. All the fishermen had gone out to cast their nets and the healer had left him to collect some herbs.

He had been deep into coma since the Big Bird hit into to the Pacific Ocean. He had been drifting from dreams to dreams. He shut his eyes was soon asleep. It wasn't long before he got lost into another vivid dream . The same angel appeared to him in his dream and Udi Daniel tongue-lashed her for killing everybody onboard the plane.

She shed tears as she walked up to him and wrapped the scientist in her arms. She pointed to Adiam as he glided on the surface of the Pacific Ocean, with ardor. She tried to console Udi Daniel as he continued to weep.

"Pull yourself together", she said with a strong voice. "I'm not the one responsible for the crash. I'm only here to play my part. You've trespassed against powerful forces and they want you to clean up your mess. You would go back to Australia". The angel continued, "The demon bonds strongly with the diamond that you released in the Coral Sea, and It would stop at nothing to get the diamond back in Australia". The angel held his head and looked into his eyes and added, "You're the chosen one, you will go back to Australia and stop the monster'.
He was going to ask the angel how he could do all that and she disappeared.

He suddenly woke up from the dream and tried to make head or tail of the dream. The blazing sun shone through the thatched roof, into the room. His neck was stiff from the crash and was bandaged with a locally made tincture. His consciousness soared as the heat from the sun warmed his skin. His memory was on reset as he tried to connect his dreams to reality.

The healer, a fisherman in his early seventies, returned to the hut to find that Udi Daniel had opened his eyes. The old man knelt down close to the mat and offered some incantation in a language strange to himl. It was very obvious to Udi Daniel that the old man was very happy. The man couldn't speak a word in English, and he signed to him telling him that he would be alright. He brought out some leaves and crushed them on a stone, then collected the herbs in a neat white material, and squeezed out the liquid in the herbs into his eyes.

He undressed him and dubbed his body with the leaves as he chanted in strange languages. He rose up and gestured to Udi Daniel that he would be back soon and left. The old man paddled his canoe to the Kairuru Island where he lived with his family. He had one of his daughters prepare something for the scientist to eat.

As she prepared the food he told his daughter, about the miracle that his god had done with the leaves of his ancestors. When Udi Daniel was brought into his hut in the fishing port the day before, his heart could barely beat. The fishermen that brought him to the port had declared him dead on arrival.

Maria Ovi got the food ready and changed into her best dress. She followed her father to see the only survivor of the plane crash. As soon as they entered the room, Udi Daniel made effort to talk. His face twitched and his mouth uttered the question, "Where am I?" She replied Udi Daniel in English.
"You're in a fishing port in Kairuru Island, in Papua New Guinea".

Udi Daniel tapped his left hand weakly on his bed and asked, "Am I alive or dreaming?"

"You're alive. Do you know what happened to your plane?"

"Crashed".

"True, but you survived. I brought some food for you to eat".

Mary Greenwood returned to Netfluz to continue her investigation with Michael Bending. Michael Bending was the FBI systems communication expert but he knew a little bit of everything. Raymond Dean was a about to leave his office when the reception announced the presence of the FBI agents. Mary Greenwood decided to meet Raymond Dean alone leaving Michael Bending behind in the reception.The office door split open as she got near.

"You're here again".

"I keep my promise".

"I'm afraid, I don't have much time up my sleeve".

"I'm not going crack nuts here Sir".

"Right away".

"In what capacity did Adaz Obot work in Netfluz?"

"He was a programming engineer".

"Did he have any issue with anyone here?"

"I don't know of any".

"Where was his office".

"All the programmers share the engineering floor".
"But he shared the same office with the Director of Programming".

"I didn't know about that".

"Can I speak with him?"

"Of course", Raymond Dean said and dialed the number of Angelo Blaze, "Hello, an FBI agent is here to ask you some questions".

"Alright".

"This is Mary Greenwood of the FBI".

"Ok".

"I understand that you shared the same office with Adaz Obot when he was here, was there any reason why he wasn't there with other programmers on the engineering floor?"

"We needed space".

"Was this cool with the Chief Programmer".

"He never complained".

'Can I see the engineering floor?"

"Of course".

Angelo Blaze popped in within seconds and took her to the second floor. Mary Greenwwhy could actually see that the floor was cramped, but could also see another office in the middle of the floor, constructed with only glasses. She finished her inspection and asked to see the office that Adaz Obot had shared. Angelo Blaze opened the door to his office and pointed at a table.

"That's where Adaz Obot had his office".

"There's one office in the middle of the engineering floor, why didn't Adaz Obot work there?"

"That's the office of the Chief Programmer, he likes to be alone in the office".

"Was he a team player?"

"Who?"

"Of course, Adaz Obot".

"All his colleagues eulogized him the short time that he spent here".

"Thank you very much for your time".

"You're welcome".

Mary Greenwood left the building tossing up things in her head. She couldn't piece together why Angelo Blaze would create space in his office for Adaz Obot, when the Chief Programmer had more in his office, and yet claimed all was fine. She suspected an unhealthy rivalry among the programmers and unacceptance of Adaz Obot. She decided to place all the twenty persons on the engineering floor including the Chief Programmer and the Director of Programming on watch. Rod Jimmy came top in her watch list.

She joined Michael Bending at the reception hall and they walked out of Netfluz into the unofficial FBI vehicle that brought them. They quietly and patiently waited for Rod Jimmy to get out. He finally came out and headed to the parking lot to pull out his car. He reversed expertly and hit the homeward road. Michael Bending engaged the FBI car and tailed him into the city. He looked at the side mirror of his vehicle and saw the same car that had followed him since he left Netfluz. He didn't read any meaning to it until he tried to snake through corners and veered here and there to lose it, but the car kept on coming behind. He knew he was being followed.

Special agent Mary Greenwood and agent Michael Bending left the FBI's office with positive vibes knowing that they were few inches away from unveiling the identity of Rito Birdman's target in the Heathrow Bing Tower. She now preferred her new company since agents Morgan Howard and Bradley Stevens let Mitchell Bannes of CNN in, on an ongoing investigation of Rito Birdman. They arrived the estate of bungalows and extracted the address of the owner of the estate and headed to 31st Street Downtown DC. She pulled out the captured image of the bungalow in her investigation and studied it as if she was seeing it for the first time. They arrived at Netfluz and agent Bending stopped at the parking lot. They moved together to the reception office where she was directed to the office of Raymond Dean, the Chief Operating Officer. They walked into an open office on the last floor of the skyscraper.

"You're welcome to Netfluz", Raymond Dean said as they moved into a very spacious room..

"Thank you", Mary Greenwood said as she settled directly opposite.

"How much do I owe the law?"

"We haven't come here to collect tax".

"Am I in some trouble?"

"We're going to be straight through", Mary Greenwood said and positioned the captured bungalow image before him. "We have come here to see your staff that lives in this bungalow".

"Its currently not occupied, you can see, it's indicated".

"Who lived there?"

"It's there any problem?"

"Just answer my question Sir".

"It's a young man that's currently not working in Netfluz".

She pulled the picture crossed with red ink by Rito Birdman in the Heathrow Bing Tower and asked, "Can you recognize this face?"

"That's him, that's the young man".

"Very well, what's his name?"

"Adaz Obot".

"Where can I find him?"

"He has returned to school".

"I'd like to get his phone number".

"You haven't told me what this is all about, is he a suspect or what?"

"You will know what's about once we get it done".

"That's alright".

"Can I get the contact now?"

"Sure", Raymond Dean said and tossed a card at her.
"We're very grateful, we'll be back again for more answers".

"Hoping I can provide them".

Raymond Dean watched the two FBI agents through the window of his office as they headed towards the parking ground. Mary Greenwood got into the SUV and pullied a call across to Adaz Obot. The young man's phone went off in a library in the faculty of Bioengineering in Harvard, and he rushed outside. He looked at the screen and found an incoming call from an unknown contact. He moved to a corner and flipped up his cellphone to answer the call.

"Hello".

"This is Mary Greenwood of the FBI. I want to ask you a few questions with respect to the role that you played in Netfluz before you left the company".

"Ok detective. What do you want to know?”

What was your job description in Netfluz?'

"I was hired to work in the capacity of a hardware programming engineer. I sneaked into embedded softwares to correct bugs among other things.

"Who was your direct boss?"

The Chief of Programming”.

"What's his name?

"Rod Jimmy"

"And your name?"

"Adaz Obot".

"Did you have any misunderstanding with anybody while you were in Netfluz?"

'Not at all".

"Did you have any fracas with anyone recently or in the past among friends or business associates".

"I can't remember any".

"I need honest answers".

"May I know what this is all about?"

"Not yet".

"I really can't point out any quarrel".

"Where was your office?”

"I shared the same office with the Director of Programming".

"What was the last job you did for Netfluz?"

"I helped to eliminate some bugs in the softwares that were loaded into some systems for field engineers'.

"Thanks for your time".

"oure welcome maam".

Udi Daniel suppressed a chuckle in the midst of the hopeless situation. He knew the announcer was preparing them to accept their fate. He looked through the window again and saw the same layout of the Pacific Ocean, but this time with more clarity.

The plane had spent more than three hours orbiting and had come down to an altitude of about hundred feet. Udi Daniel shut his eyes before the plane would crash, but he was soon caught in another episode of trance, more vivid than the former. The angel reappeared to him again saying,

"Jump from the plane and save every other person on board?"

"Why's the plane going down?" Udi Daniel asked.

'You used your inventions to set free the demon of diamonds in the Coral Sea. You would never know peace unless you lock it up'.

"It's that the reason why these people onboard the plane are going to die?"

"You're human, you would never understand".

Udi Daniel got shocked to reality, before the plane split into two and crashed in the Pacific Ocean, around the Kairuru Island in Papua New Guinea.




Chapter Seven





The inhabitants of Kairuru Island had watched the Big Bird as it crashed into the Pacific Ocean. The incidence stirred up fear among the locals as a large group of men and teenagers ran towards the area of the ocean where the plane had gone down, close to a fishing port.

The fishermen came out of their huts when they had heard a loud hissing noise, followed by outbursts of noise from the island. They hurriedly got into their boats on catching sight of the tail of the plane sinking into the water.They raced to salvage whatever remained in the plane. It was a total wreck. They found their way inside the plane and began to bring bodies of the passengers into their boats, to take them to the island. Other men arrived with bigger boats and joined in the evacuation. Loud cries and wailing filled the air.

One of the passengers onboard coughed out blood as his body was being carried into a boat. A fisherman noticed it and singled him out to take him to a healing home on the fishing port. As the rest continued to transfer the bodies, the fisherman sped on the Pacific Ocean to meet the healer. The healer could see them from a far, where he had poked his head to watch what was going on. He came out and helped to lift the body of the passenger into his hut. He quickly settled down to work. The passenger was a man in his late thirties.

The red arrow was now resting on the body of the jet and he could see it on the control screen. He let out a devilish grin and picked up his local cigarette that was burning away on a tray. He took a long hard drag on it before hitting the button marked ''Blow Up!'' in the control. The warhead flew from the base with a deafening hissing noise skyward as he pressed a button on the scanning system to start recording the destruction.

Rito Birdman had read the mind of the demon while Mitchell Bannes was still on the TV. He continued to make the sign of cross on his chest as he flew away with the maximum configured speed in the jet plane. The warning system in the jet jolted him from a deep thought. The system had just picked a radio signal tracking the jet and he knew what it meant. He shot himself into the air just before the jet was blasted to pieces by a missile. He had strapped the belt of a parachute around his trunk.

The parachute did not spread until he had fallen down some distance away from the scattering jet. It lowered him gently into a deep blue sea separating Iraq from Iran. He hoped to swim the distance to shore, but the strapped parachute posed a real challenge. He tried to unfasten the belt but couldn't remove it. The parachute was sapping away his energy as he made attempts to swim on.

He let go the idea of swimming with the parachute and he figured out a way to cut it off. He dipped his right hand into his pocket and brought out his key holder and used his teeth to pull out a knife. He cut himself free and breathed relief. He began to swim from the middle of the sea towards the shore with breaststroke.

He noticed a movement under the water and he prayed it was not't a predator. He was hoping that the air unit of Al Ja'amah had not seen him as he got out of the jet. He exhausted his energy just before he could reach the shore and he sank slowly into the water and took his first gulp, and as if the gulp of water had renewed his energy, he raised his head out of the water and changed to a backstroke. He continued to swim forward but weakly. He kept muttering to himself:

"You cannot die in a strange land, and in the water. You are the Birdman, keep flying, keep flying".

It worked! He finally hauled himself on the seashore and laid flat on his back as the hot sun of the day scorched him. He still bled from the corner of his head where the bullet of one of the guards of Dr. Omar Bin Lahmir had scraped.

He believed now that Oscar Averes did not set him up, but what had continued to prick his thought was how his photo was taken in Washington DC. No one had held a camera to snap him in the elevator inside the Heathrow Bing Tower. He remembered a smartly dressed young woman that had stopped the door of the elevator from closing and joined him. What preoccupied his mind was how to get to safety from the demon.

Thousands of feet below, a young boy in a fishing canoe in Papua New Guinea, drew the attention of his father to the Big Bird moving in cycles, up in the blue sky, and dropping in altitude, cycle after cycle. The boy wasn't the only one that could see the plane.

Farmers in some parts of New Zealand and fishermen in some parts of Singapore, watched the plane as it orbited high up and spiraling downwards.

Udi Daniel fell into a trance as the airplane continued to revolve. A soft but confident voice whispered to him, after calling his full name, "Ogidi Udi Daniel". He turned around to see a ravishingly beautiful tall lady, with the appearance of an angel. Her long hair was waving in the gentle wind of the Pacific. She spread her arms wide to receive him in an embrace, with a broad reassuring smile. She urged the scientist on, to fall into her opened arms.

Udi Daniel took steps towards her as she stood tall on the Coral beach with an alluring posture. The curvy coconut palm trees behind her, swayed to the rhythm of the gentle breeze, painting a background of an irresistible seduction. Her light blue flowing gown blended well with the clear blue sky. Her eyes were burning him up with tenderness and love.

Udi Daniel was caught in her magnetic web and he increased his pace to fall into her arms. As he stretched to take her hands, she disappeared with a voice, and said, "You know where to find me, come to the Pacific, I'll be waiting". Suddenly, he snapped off into reality in the plane.

Everything seemed the same with the exception of the flight attendants pacing up and down. The passengers onboard were beginning to suspect that something awry was happening. Udi Daniel was the only passenger onboard that knew the true state of things in the plane.

The flight officers tried to send radio signals from the plane, but nothing worked in the communication systems. The plane was losing control. It had revolved fifty seven cycles, before the Rate of Turn Instruments had frozen. The flight officers could not keep it to themselves anymore.

"We have a situation!" The first flight officer announced.

"I know so", Udi Daniel said invited.

"The plane has been locked in cycles since the last three hours", the reaction from the passengers made him to add quickly, "We're working it out and I'm hoping we'd get back control".

Everyone got restless. Some of the passengers began to call on different gods to save them from the situation. However, Udi Daniel remained calm and thoughtful. His experience with the angel that appeared in his trance was still fresh in his mind. Had the angel embraced him, he wouldn't have got worried about dying. He tried to open the book in his hand again but the image of the monster would not go away. This time the monster grabbed Ellinaz Ivanovo by the throat, it raised her, and slapped her to the ground. At once Udi Daniel exploded inside the plane with a terrifying cry.

The air passengers could not take their eyes off him as he behaved weirdly. A number of the passengers identified him as the man they had seen on TV, conducting the humarines operation to recover the Mystery Diamond.

The scientist felt his life spinning out of control. The demon in Adiam was not coming for him alone. Ellinaz Ivanovo had showed up in the picture, and he would not take ir. He felt regret for creating the humarines. Nothing mattered to him now except his life and the love of his world, Ellinaz.

He was ready to let go everything he had achieved, just to get home in one piece and meet the woman that breathed life into him. The voice of a trembling announcer in the plane jolted him from his reverie.

"Pull yourselves together everybody. The flight officers are doing everything possible to get the plane to function again. Don't panic, be rest assured that we would touch down in Washington in one piece".

Chapter Six






Within minutes, Udi Daniel boarded a passenger plane heading for the United States. He just received a congratulatory message from Ellinaz Ivanovo, over the successful operation. She had missed him like he had gone forever. When she got the message that he was coming home; she excitedly made the ground ready to welcome him ceremoniously. She had never felt the magnetism that made her to almost cut off the breathing of the scientist, the last time she kissed him.

Udi Daniel relished the moment with Ellinaz Ivanovo already as the passenger plane smoothly got off from the runway and attained balance in the air. He would never let her go away when she kissed him again. It was her touch alone that would erase the memory of Adiam, that had become a demon-possessed machine, a monster. He would never believe that an invisible force could operate in a none living thing, but his machines were not none living things! They could take decisions almost naturally and had feelings. He would never understand that he had crossed lines with his creation.

Two hundred and twenty one passengers were on board including nine crew members. Udi Daniel occupied a seat in the business class by the window side. As the Big Bird cut through the expanse, he saw the Pacific Ocean and shook off the vision in his head, of the monster rising from the water to pull down the plane. He closed his eyes and mentally calculated the time that it would take for the plane to leave the Pacific Ocean behind.

The plane maintained a level flight for one hour and ten minutes before Udi Daniel opened his eyes. To his disappointment, it looked las if the plane would never cruise away from the Pacific Ocean. He stole a glance through the window and saw the same geographical layout of the Pacific Ocean, and he shut his eyes again. The waters appeared to be beckoning to him to come over with a strong force.

Each time he opened his eyes, he fought the temptation of looking through the window. He tried to read a book but the image of the monster kept crawling to his consciousness. He closed his eyes continuously as the only sure way to banish the image of the monster. He was not alone in the displacement observation outside the airplane.

The plane was cruising at an altitude just below the Absolute Ceiling, in a clear blue sky above around the Pacific. The first officer observed an unusual sequence in the flight data readings and he drew the attention of the co-pilot to it. The flight instruments had measured eight thousand miles from Australia but it was not showing in the instrument's Linear Displacement.

It became obvious that the aircraft was not moving away from around the Pacific Ocean. The first officer carefully inspected the gyroscopes for any malfunctioning while the co-pilot rechecked the Rate of Turn and Heading Instruments of the plane. They established that the aeroplane had been cycle-navigating for the last two and a half hour.

Abdul raised his garment to expose the short gun on his belt to his lord, to indicate that the job would be done on the spot. Dr. Omar Bin Lahmir assumed a friendly mood as he opened the door to meet the hitman. He roared like a lion in a great distress all of a sudden. He discovered the hitman was missing. He turned around and barked!

"Get everyone and everything to bring him down! Now!! Now!!!

Abdul chased him all the way to the outside of the ring mansion, screaming “Kill him! Kill him!! Kill!!!”

The terrorists in the mansion sprinted in hot chase from the underground to the mouth of the cave through different channels. Dr. Omar Bin Lahmir switched on the hanging screen and pulled out the surveillance camera securing the entrance of the cave and saw the footage of Rito Birdman. He immediately punched the call code of the men at the three gates leading into and out of the cave and screamed at them, "Shoot him! Shoot him down!!" He pulled another camera and watched the guards spraying bullets at him. Rito Birdman was about hopping into his private jet when a bullet grazed his head. He managed to switch on the instruments inside the jet as bullets rained on the body of the jet. He took off with the speed of light as the foot soldiers of the evil doctor advanced.

Abdul Taheem saw him flying from the ground as he popped his head out of the cave. He took a device from his pocket and spoke into it.

"My lord, he's gone, heading towards Baghdad".

"Then fail over to B!" Dr. Omar Bin Lahmir replied and smashed the device on his hand to pieces on the floor. His men had failed him.

General Mahmud Hussein was dragging a long local cigarette pipe, made with assorted dried leaves and was puffing the smoke into the air through his mouth and nostrils. He stood on the top of Al Ja'amahs airbase tank and was looking on as the cigarette smoke from the tiny wood pipe coiled into the air. A junior officer called him from the control room with a tone of urgency. Abdul Taheem was on the phone waiting to speak to the general. Mahmud could tell that something was wrong somewhere. The Deputy scarcely called the base except when Dr. Omar Bin Lahmir wanted an air operation.

He breezed into the control and said "Hello", into the table phone.

Abdul Taheem thundered from the other end saying, "Bring down the jet flying from the airspace now! Now, now!! No mistakes!

Mahmud immediately instructed the terror officers in charge of the airspace scanning systems to bring the satellites up. He was trained by the US Airforce but was not absorbed into the force when he did not come clean with his profile. Dr. Omar Bin Lahmir had thrown some carrots at him back in the United States and he agreed to join the air unit of Al Jama'ah.

He was a brilliant engineer in aeronautics that held a master's degree in Space Technology from Stanford University in California. When the evil doctor had come calling, the decision was made already for him. He had single-handedly put together most of the systems in the control of the airbase. He had successfully designed a new radar system on the desert airfield and had taken air tracking systems to another level.

He decided to bring the jet down by himself since no mistakes would be tolerated from the demon. The airspace scanners stood in the middle of a very spacious room inside the airbase close to the control.

The outside of the base was littered with ground-to-space satellites. All the systems were now ready. He pushed a button on the control and a metal cover blew out from the top of the airbase tank, exposing a warhead carrying SA-77 missile. This was a long range missile capable of delivering death to distant corners of the earth. He pushed another button and the missile system rolled on to the top of the tank on wheels. He moved to the airspace scanning systems and picked out a satellite that was overlooking the airspace from space. He punched a button on the airspace scanner and raised his head to see the satellite rotate three sixty degrees spatially on the screen.

The protection around the Brisbane museum was reinforced after the news filtered through that a monster had come out of the Coral Sea, shortly after the humarines had recovered the diamond, seeking the diamond.The Australian government was overwhelmed by the influx of tourists applying to see the recovered diamond. The government would try everything possible to stop the media from spreading the news of the monster around. Media organizations heavily stood the risk of being sanctioned if they carried the news.

Bobby Roberts, the Prime Minister, had heard the news about the monster already, and he pulled a call to the Minister of Defence.

"What's the update on the monster?" Bobby Roberts asked straight up.

"Sir, it had just been sighted and fired away from the Walter/Taylor bridge by the military".

"This is scary and not good at all for business".

"True that Sir".

"Any casualties on the bridge?"

"We're not certain of the numbers yet, but I can confirm it to you that the monster had sent an SUV into the river, before it pushed a bus full of passengers inside".

"This is crazy and unheard of, It can't be happening; I call for a crucial security meeting this minute. Spread it around the Security Heads".

"Alright Sir".

"Do you have any idea where this is coming from?"
"Tom Harry told me a while ago, that the monster had asked for the recovered diamond from Paul Gardner on the Coral Sea beach before it killed him".
"This is a ridiculous folktale of tortoises. I don't believe it, I can't believe it. Let's meet and put things right in Canberra to finish the monster once and for all".

"OK Sir".

The helicopter flying Tom Harry and Udi Danie descended into Canberra towards the situation room, where he hoped to meet the Security Heads of the government. The government knew the danger the monster posed even as it tried to water down the damage done already, for the sake of the economy. By the time the helicopter lowered Tom Harry into the government house, the security meeting was rounded off. He had hoped to give an eye witness account and stressed the slipperiness of the monster, to the different Security Heads of government present in the meeting.

He expedited the conclusion of the transaction details between the Australian government and NextTech and sixty five million dollars was transferred to NextTech. Udi Daniel got prepared to leave the capital after spending the night in the government house. He was going to travel to the United States without the humarines. Tom Harry had arranged for the humarines to be brought from the Beach Side Hotel and transported to Washington DC.

The scientist was driven to the Canberra Airport, international wing, after he opted to join a commercial flight to the US in the company of Tom Harry. He seemed to be afraid to fly as the only passenger in a private jet. He still had cold feet from the near encounter with the monster.
